Abstract:
A recently discovered manuscript by the French missionary Adolph Mabille (1836-1894) in the Morija Archives, Lesotho, remedies the lack of attention ofA History of the Work of Redemption(hwrhereafter), by Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) in the nineteenth century. This manuscript found its way from colonial America to Africa through French missionary endeavors in relgious educational training (Paris) and teaching (Basutoland). Edwards’s original aim, and the subsequent publication of ‘outlines of a body of divinity’, converged in nineteenth-century France, where thehwrwas translated in the context ofLe Réveiland taught in the course of systematic theology at the Paris Evangelical Mission Society Mission house, exemplified by Mabille’sDogmatique. Moreover, the appropriation of Edwards’shwrin the combined context of missions and religious education was extended in Basutoland, as seen in theKatekisma. The outline of the catechism may be due to Mabille’s classical training and acquaintance with ‘universal chronology’ and Scripture, but it also reflected his intimate knowledge of Edwards’s work. The reception of Edwards’s exposition of redemptive history in the catechism of Basutoland thus resonates in part with Mabille’sDogmatique—a text transmission of Edwards’sHistoire. The transmission of this text remained the same in structure, was shortened in content and modified over time, but continued as intended by Edwards: to show ‘a work that God is carrying on from the fall of man to the end of the world’.

Abstract:
Metodom analize istorijskih iskustava i savremenih dešavanja i indukcijom pojedinačnih stavova direktnih učesnika u oružanim sukobima skupljenih tokom godina, uz strukturnu analizu pojma borbenog morala, autor kroz argumentovanje neophodnosti prepoznavanja i vrednosno-moralnog, tj. „etičkog“ činioca borbenog morala kao važne determinante borbenog morala u procesu naučne sinteze pokazuje nužnu i neraskidivu vezu oba značenja pojma moral unutar vojnog etosa. Zanemarivanje uticaja kršenja moralnih normi na stanje borbenog morala predstavlja opasan redukcionizam koji može imati dalekosežne negativne implikacije po vojsku i društvo.

Abstract:
In recent work we associated a natural category to a semigroup and developed Morita theory for semigroups. In particular we gave a generalisation of Rees’ Theorem which led us to define what we call a Morita semigroup, this is our analogue of a structure matrix semigroup. In this article we formulate a method for extending Morita semigroups by groups. We say that a semigroup is an iterative Morita semigroup if it is obtained by successive applications of pasting families of Morita semigroups which have been extended by groups. By relying on Morita theory we show that every regular unambiguous semigroup is isomorphic to an iterative Morita semigroup of a special form. Our result can be viewed as a co-ordinate free version of the Synthesis Theorem.

Abstract:
Abstract Morita Therapy is a Japanese psychotherapy which contrasts with established Western approaches in teaching, through behavioural experience, that symptoms are part of the natural ecology of human experience. Morita Therapy has received increasing international interest over the decades, and the first randomized controlled trial of Morita Therapy to be published outside of China has recently demonstrated the promise of the approach in treating Western patients. To respond to the resulting interest in Morita Therapy from patients and practitioners, and facilitate further Morita Therapy research, it is necessary to provide the detailed explanation of Morita Therapy which is currently rare in the West. In this article, we fill this gap with a thorough description of Morita Therapy in terms of the key principles, objectives and processes of the approach; its basis in Eastern philosophy and naturalism; its sociohistorical context and development over a wide range of formats, patient conditions, and countries. To enable Western practitioners to appreciate and capitalize on the potential value of Morita Therapy as a distinct alternative for patients, we illustrate the approach’s unique method and objective compared to Western psychotherapies, and provide recommendations for practitioners applying Morita Therapy across cultures.

The converse is also deduced, i.e., for two Morita equivalent semirings L and R, a Nobusawa Γ-semiring A with unities is constructed such that the left and right operator semirings of A are isomorphic to L and R, respectively. As an application we first establish a relationship between Morita equivalence and Morita context of semirings, and then enumerate some properties of semirings which remain invariant under Morita equivalence.

Abstract:
AbstractIn a recent article, Barrett & Halvorson (2016) define a notion of equivalence for first-order theories, which they call “Morita equivalence.” To argue that Morita equivalence is a reasonable measure of “theoretical equivalence,” they make use of the claim that Morita extensions “say no more” than the theories they are extending. The goal of this article is to challenge this central claim by raising objections to their argument for it and by showing why there is good reason to think that the claim itself is false. In light of these criticisms, this article develops a natural way for the advocate of Morita equivalence to respond. I prove that this response makes her criterion a special case of bi-interpretability, an already well-established barometer of theoretical equivalence. I conclude by providing reasons why the advocate of Morita equivalence should opt for a notion of theoretical equivalence that is defined in terms of interpretability rather than Morita extensions.

Abstract:
Motivated by deformation quantization, we introduced in an earlier work the notion of formal Morita equivalence in the category of *-algebras over a ring [Formula: see text] which is the quadratic extension by i of an ordered ring [Formula: see text]. The goal of the present paper is twofold. First, we clarify the relationship between formal Morita equivalence, Ara's notion of Morita *-equivalence of rings with involution, and strong Morita equivalence of C*-algebras. Second, in the general setting of *-algebras over [Formula: see text], we define "closed" *-ideals as the ones occurring as kernels of *-representations of these algebras on pre-Hilbert spaces. These ideals form a lattice which we show is invariant under formal Morita equivalence. This result, when applied to Pedersen ideals of C*-algebras, recovers the so-called Rieffel correspondence theorem. The triviality of the minimal element in the lattice of closed ideals, called the "minimal ideal", is also a formal Morita invariant and this fact can be used to describe a large class of examples of *-algebras over [Formula: see text] with equivalent representation theory but which are not formally Morita equivalent. We finally compute the closed *-ideals of some *-algebras arising in differential geometry.

Abstract:
In this paper, we show that there exists a category equivalence between certain categories of A-rings (respectively, ring extensions of A) and B-rings (respectively, ring extensions of B), where A and B are Morita dual rings. In this category equivalence, corresponding two A-ring and B-ring are Morita dual. This is an improvement of a result of Müller, which state that if a ring A has a Morita duality induced by a bimodule BQA and R is a ring extension of A such that RA and Hom A(R, Q)A are linearly compact, then R has a Morita duality induced by the bimodule S End R( Hom A(R, Q))R with S = End R( Hom A(R, Q)). We also investigate relationships between Morita duality and finite ring extensions. Particularly, we show that if A and B are Morita dual rings with B basic, then every finite triangular (respectively, normalizing) extension R of A is Morita dual to a finite triangular (respectively, normalizing) extension S of B, and we give a result about finite centralizing free extensions, which unify a result of Mano about self-duality and a result of Fuller–Haack about semigroup rings.

Abstract:
Morita therapy, developed by Shoma Morita (1874-1938) in Japan, is a type of psychotherapy that has been applied to deal with neurotic symptoms. This therapeutic approach is based on the conviction that neurotic symptoms are universal issues that eventually subside if the symptoms are accepted and everyday activities are carried out. By examining a school-refusing female adolescent suffering from somatic complaints (mainly psychogenic fever), the present study explores the effectiveness of Morita therapy-based consultation on the adolescent’s school refusal tendencies. The findings indicate that, after the school counselor provided Morita therapy-based consultation to the parents of the school-refusing adolescent and the school staff members, the adolescent returned to school and psychogenic fever became afebrile after several days of resuming regular school attendance. The implication of the results is that Morita therapy can be effective for dealing with school-refusing adolescents suffering from neurotic symptoms.

When the qubits are initially in the disentangled state, the destructive effect of intrinsic decoherence on entanglement can be moderated by the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, the concurrence increases with the increasing Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction following the evolution of the time t.

AbstractFor self-injective algebras, Rickard proved that each derived equivalence induces a stable equivalence of Morita type. For general algebras, it is unknown when a derived equivalence implies a stable equivalence of Morita type. In this article, we first show that each derived equivalenceFbetween the derived categories of Artin algebrasAandBarises naturally as a functorbetween their stable module categories, which can be used to compare certain homological dimensions ofAwith that ofB. We then give a sufficient condition for the functorto be an equivalence. Moreover, if we work with finite-dimensional algebras over a field, then the sufficient condition guarantees the existence of a stable equivalence of Morita type. In this way, we extend the classical result of Rickard. Furthermore, we provide several inductive methods for constructing those derived equivalences that induce stable equivalences of Morita type. It turns out that we may produce a lot of (usually not self-injective) finite-dimensional algebras that are both derived-equivalent and stably equivalent of Morita type; thus, they share many common invariants.

Abstract:
AbstractFor self-injective algebras, Rickard proved that each derived equivalence induces a stable equivalence of Morita type. For general algebras, it is unknown when a derived equivalence implies a stable equivalence of Morita type. In this article, we first show that each derived equivalence F between the derived categories of Artin algebras A and B arises naturally as a functor between their stable module categories, which can be used to compare certain homological dimensions of A with that of B. We then give a sufficient condition for the functor to be an equivalence.

AbstractWe prove two results on the tube algebras of rigid C*-tensor categories. The first is that the tube algebra of the representation category of a compact quantum groupGis a full corner of the Drinfeld double ofG. As an application, we obtain some information on the structure of the tube algebras of the Temperley–Lieb categories 𝒯ℒ(d) ford> 2. The second result is that the tube algebras of weakly Morita equivalent C*-tensor categories are strongly Morita equivalent. The corresponding linking algebra is described as the tube algebra of the 2-category defining the Morita context.

Abstract We prove the existence of Morita model structures on the categories of small simplicial categories, simplicial sets, simplicial operads and dendroidal sets, modelling the Morita homotopy theory of {(\infty,1)} -categories and {\infty} -operads. We give a characterization of the weak equivalences in terms of simplicial presheaves, simplicial algebras and slice categories. In the case of the Morita model structure for simplicial categories and simplicial operads, we also show that each of these model structures can be obtained as an explicit left Bousfield localization of the Bergner model structure on simplicial categories and the Cisinski–Moerdijk model structure on simplicial operads, respectively.

AbstractAS a generalization of Morita duality, Kraemer introduced the notion of quasi-duality and showed that each left linearly compact ring has a quasi-duality. Let R be an associative ring with identity and R[[x]] the power series ring. We prove that (1) R[[x]] has a quasi-duality if and only if R has a quasi-duality; (2) R[[x]] is left linearly compact if and only if R is left linearly compact and left noetherian; and (3) R[[x]] has a Morita duality if and only if R is left noetherian and has a Morita duality induced by a bimodule RUS such that S is right noetherian.
