Abstract:
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major health problem currently affecting over 225 million people worldwide. It is often described as a major metabolic disorder, which can result in numerous long-term complications including retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy and cardiomyopathy. DM is due to a deficiency of insulin or insulin resistance. Of the 225 million diabetic patients, around 5-10% suffer from type 1 DM (T1DM) and the remaining 90-95% suffer from type 2 diabetes (T2DM). T1DM is due to insulin deficiency whereas T2DM is due to either a reduction in insulin secretion or insulin resistance. Pa

In the conventional ionomers, the ionic groups are placed randomly along the polymeric backbone resulting in a network structure that is rather poorly defined. This slow evolution of disks is due to the effect of non-axisymmetric potentials, among which, a bar potential is perhaps the most effective of all. Abstract:
As nanocomposites provide considerable improvements in material properties, scientists and engineers are focussing on biodegradable nanocomposites having superior material properties as well as degradability. This thesis has investigated the properties of biodegradable nanocomposites of the aliphatic thermoplastic polyester, poly (lactide acid) (PLA) and the synthetic biodegradable polyester, poly (butylene succinate) (PBS). To enhance the properties of this blend, nanometer-sized clay particles, have been added to produce tertiary nanocomposite. High aspect ratio and surface area of clay prov
