The platygastrid subfamily Sceliotrachelinae, while represented globally by numerous biologically important taxa, is generally poorly known for the Afrotropical region. It contains a number of species of economic significance, including some that attack hemipteran pests of citrus. Here we review the taxonomy of the subfamily for the region. The uniparental parasitoid Closterocerus chamaeleon (Girault) is discovered to be fortuitously present on a population of the invasive Eucalyptus Gall Wasp Ophelimus maskelli (Ashmead) in Riverside, California. This is the first report from the New World of C. chamaeleon, which has proven to be a highly effective natural enemy of O. maskelli in the Mediterranean Basin. The taxonomy and identification of C. chamaeleon is discussed.

Two tentatively distinct morphological forms belonging to the Darwin wasp genus <i>Lochetica</i> Kriechbaumer, 1892 (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) were found to occur in Finland, although only one species is known in Europe. The identity of the two forms were resolved by examining additional museum material, DNA barcoding and revising the relevant types.
