A comparative study of the structural characteristics of microvessels with a perivascular arrangement of tumor cells and microvessels with normal structure located in the peritumoral zones of an intracranially implanted glioblastoma ("glioma C6") was conducted. The study was performed on rats. Morphometric method was used to determine the area, internal diameter and length of microvessels for 21 days after the introduction of tumor cells into the brain of rats. Changes in the structure of microvessels with glioblastoma cells were registered throughout the entire observation period. The active

Neurophysiological investigations have demonstrated that there are unique fluctuations in the migraine brain functional activity between the ictal and interictal periods. Here we investigated the possibility that there are fluctuations over time also in whole brain morphometry of patients affected by episodic migraine without aura (MO). Twenty-four patients with untreated MO underwent 3T MRI scans during ( n = 10) or between attacks ( n = 14) and were compared to a group of 15 healthy volunteers (HVs). We then performed voxel-based-morphometry (VBM) analysis of structural T1-weighted MRI scans

Objective: to analyze the immunohistochemical and morphometric features of intestinal metaplasia, intraepithelial neoplasia and undefined gastric intraepithelial neoplasia. Materials and methods. During video gastroscopy using the video endoscopic system EVIS EXERA III with an Olympus 190 gastroscope (Japan), biopsy specimens of 40 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis were obtained. Immunohistochemical studies allowed the formation of groups: intestinal metaplasia (cell proliferation exclusively in the intestinal metaplasia growth zone), indefinite intraepithelial neoplasia (single cells i

BackgroundIn type 1 diabetes, changes in the GFR and urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) are related to changes in kidney structure that reflect disease progression. However, such changes have not been studied in type 2 diabetes.MethodsParticipants were American Indians with type 2 diabetes enrolled in a clinical trial of losartan versus placebo. We followed a subset who underwent kidney biopsy at the end of the 6-year trial, with annual measurements of GFR (by urinary clearance of iothalamate) and ACR. Participants had a second kidney biopsy after a mean follow-up of 9.3 years. We used qu

The study examines the dynamics of changes in the morphometric dimensions of the free wing bones in Japanese quails that received and did not receive probiotics during postnatal ontogenesis. It was noted that the absolute indicators of the morphometric parameters of the humerus, radius, and ulna in quails that did not receive probiotics increased sharply until the 25th day of postnatal ontogenesis, stabilized between 25 and 60 days of age, and slowed down after the 120th day due to egg-laying levels. AbstractThis study aimed to evaluate the influence of pH changes on morphometric parameters of casein micelles and a general overview of their conformational structure through microscopy techniques, Raman spectroscopy and multivariate analysis. It was found that casein micelles morphology and protein secondary structure depend strongly upon pH. The changes of arithmetic average roughness (Ra), size, and shape of casein micelles at different pH are properly characterized by atomic force and cryo-transmission electron microscopy. Morphometric changes of casein micelles were correlated correctly

A morphometric study of liver changes at different invasive doses was conducted in rodents (Oryctolagus cuniculus). In a comparative aspect, the thickness of connective tissue formed around the portal tracts and the thickness of cellular infiltrates in the same area were studied at an invasive dose of 100, 50 and 10 metacercariae of Ophistorchis felineus (Rivolta, 1884). The experiment was conducted on sexually mature male rabbits at the age of 6 months, in each observation group of 10 individuals. Clinically healthy animals were infested with Ophistorchis felineus per os metacercariae once. T
