Abstract:
Abstract. The mineralogy and chemistry of the less than 20μm fraction of marine sediments at Morphou Bay, north-west Cyprus, are presented to characterise fine-grained sediment supplies from basic and ultrabasic rocks of the Troodos Massif within a typological setting. The sediments comprise a mixture of smectite, illite, kaolinite and iron rich chlorite. They also contain amorphous iron oxides/hydroxides, calcite (with some magnesium substitution for calcium) and an amphibole. Spatial patterns in mineralogy occur: the near-shore sediments are rich in smectite, chlorite, amphibole and amorphou

Abstract:
The thin-walled cooking pottery of the early to late Roman period originating from the area of Morphou Bay in the northern part of Cyprus, excavated by the Paphos Agora Project of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, is studied in this paper in order to shed new light on the nature of the supply patterns of this extraordinary class of pottery. The collected data—on the macroscopic characteristic of the ware and shape—and a chronological analysis as well as quantitative study of the assemblage have indicated a continuous presence of this group in Nea Paphos, reflecting perhaps some sort of sp

Abstract:
The loss of genetic diversity in farm animal genetic resources is a growing concern, with many local breeds facing possible extinction. This study on Goat production in Cyprus was carried out to establish the morpho–biometric profile of indigenous Cyprus Native Hair Goats, for which there is no scientific information necessary for their proper classification and identification, for that purpose 60 animals were measured on 17 morphobiometric traits. A two–way analysis of variance with the interaction of the effects of age and gender was performed. White, chamoise, light buckskin, brown–white, w

Abstract:
This study aims to determine Curie point depth (CPD), Heat flow and the boundaries of geological structures of Cyprus Island using EMAG2 magnetic data. CPD values were calculated by applying spectral analysis technique to magnetic anomaly map divided into 60 blocks (60x60 km2). Then, different thermal conductivity values (K=1, 1.5 and 2.5 Wm–1 K–1) and heat flow values were calculated using CPD values. CPD values ranged from 12.4 km to 28.18 km, and heat flow values were calculated between 20 and 50 mW/m2 for K=1. Shallow CPD values (CPD< 15km) were calculated in Polis, Morphou Bay, in the
