We investigate the subcritical anisotropic Trudinger–Moser inequality in the entire space ℝ N , obtain the asymptotic behavior of the supremum for the subcritical anisotropic Trudinger–Moser inequalities on the entire Euclidean spaces, and provide a precise relationship between the supremums for the critical and subcritical anisotropic Trudinger–Moser inequalities. Furthermore, we can prove critical anisotropic Trudinger–Moser inequalities under the nonhomogenous norm restriction and obtain a similar relationship with the supremums of subcritical anisotropic Trudinger–Moser inequalities.

Abstract:
During a recent survey of epilithic diatoms in running waters of New Caledonia, two unknown Adlafia Moser, Lange-Bertalot & Metzeltin species were found. Both species are described as new based on light and scanning electron microscopy (LM and SEM). Adlafia moseri sp. nov., is characterised by its margins morphology, its large size and its low stria density, clearly visible in LM. Adlafia tjibaoui sp. nov. shows a very long internal intermissio with curved proximal raphe endings and a very high stria density. Since the generitype Adlafia muscora (Kociolek & de Reviers) Moser, Lange-Bertalot & Metzeltin was poorly described, its diagnosis is emended based on more detailed scanning electron microscopy observations. Kobayasiella saxicola (Manguin) Lange-Bertalot, only described in light microscopy, occurs frequently in some running waters in New Caledonia. An emended description of this taxon is likewise proposed based on additional SEM data.

Abstract:
A taxonomic revision of the Liogenys Guérin-Méneville, 1831 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae: Diplotaxini) from the Chacoan Biogeographical Province is presented. Liogenys now includes 92 species, including four new species described here: L. neoforcipata Cherman, new species; L. foveata Cherman, new species; L. isotarsis Cherman, new species; and L. truncata Cherman, new species; and the female of L. tarsalis Moser is described for the first time. Six new synonymies are proposed: L. denticulata Moser, 1918 is a new synonym of L. denticeps Blanchard, 1851; L. ophtalmica Frey, 1973 is a new synonym of L. bidenticeps Moser, 1919; L. mendozana incisa Frey, 1969 is a new synonym of L. mendozana Moser, 1918; L. flavicollis Blanchard, 1851 and L. fulvescens Blanchard, 1851 are new synonyms of L. pallens Blanchard, 1851; and L. densicollis Moser, 1921 is a new synonym of L. opacicollis Fairmaire, 1892. Liogenys cribricollis Moser, 1921 species status is revalidated from its synonymy with L. densicollis. A neotype is designated for Liogenys mendozana incisa Frey, 1969, as well as lectotypes for: L. bruchi Moser, 1924; L. cribricollis, L. denticulata, L. denticeps, L. fulvescens, L. latitarsis Moser, 1918; L. mendozana Moser, 1918; L. obscura Blanchard, 1851; L. opacicollis; and L. pallens. Redescriptions and/or diagnoses and updated geographical distributions are provided for 16 species. Six species previously known only from Argentina have their distribution expanded to Bolivia (L. mendozana; L. opacicollis; L. rectangula Frey, 1969), Paraguay (L. nigrofusca Moser, 1918; L. pallens), or to both of these countries (L. latitarsis).

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on some Trudinger-Moser type inequalities and their applications to the study of Sobolev embeddings they induce into the Orlicz spaces, and the investigation of nonlinear partial differential equations with exponential growth. The work presented here includes three parts. The first part is devoted to the description of the lack of compactness of the 4D Sobolev embedding into the Orlicz space in the radialframework. The aim of the second part is twofold. Firstly, we characterize the lack of compactness of the 2D Sobolev embedding into the different classes of Orlicz spaces. Secondly, we undertakethe study of the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with exponential growth, where the Orlicz norm plays a crucial role. In particular, issues of global existence, scattering and qualitativestudy are investigated. In the third part, we establish sharp Adams-type inequalities invoking Hardy inequalities, then we give a description of the lack of compactness of the Sobolev embeddings they induce

Bellamy, Gwyn. "Generalized Calogero-Moser spaces and rational Cherednik algebras." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/4733.

Full text
Abstract:
The subject of this thesis is the interplay between the geometry and the representation theory of rational Cherednik algebras at t = 0. Exploiting this relationship, we use representation theoretic techniques to classify all complex re ection groups for which the geometric space associated to a rational Cherednik algebra, the generalized Calogero-Moser space, is singular. Applying results of Ginzburg-Kaledin and Namikawa, this classification allows us to deduce a (nearly complete) classification of those symplectic reflection groups for which there exist crepant resolutions of the corresponding symplectic quotient singularity. Then we explore a particular way of relating the representation theory and geometry of a rational Cherednik algebra associated to a group W to the representation theory and geometry of a rational Cherednik algebra associated to a parabolic subgroup of W. The key result that makes this construction possible is a recent result of Bezrukavnikov and Etingof on completions of rational Cherednik algebras. This leads to the definition of cuspidal representations and we show that it is possible to reduce the problem of studying all the simple modules of the rational Cherednik algebra to the study of these nitely many cuspidal modules. We also look at how the Etingof-Ginzburg sheaf on the generalized Calogero-Moser space can be "factored" in terms of parabolic subgroups when it is restricted to particular subvarieties. In particular, we are able to confirm a conjecture of Etingof and Ginzburg on "factorizations" of the Etingof-Ginzburg sheaf. Finally, we use Clifford theoretic techniques to show that it is possible to deduce the Calogero-Moser partition of the irreducible representations of the complex reflection groups G(m; d; n) from the corresponding partition for G(m; 1; n). This confirms, in the case W = G(m; d; n), a conjecture of Gordon and Martino relating the Calogero-Moser partition to Rouquier families for the corresponding cyclotomic Hecke algebra.

Hagel, Stefan. Understanding early auloi: Instruments from Paestum, Pydna and elsewhere. Verlag der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, October 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.1553/oeai_ambh_3.

Full text
Abstract:
Starting from data on the ‘Paestum’ or ‘Poseidonia’ aulos established by Paul andBarbara Reichlin-Moser and Stelios Psaroudakēs, the ‘Pydna’ aulos, and comparable finds ofearly, mainly six-hole one-hole-shift, doublepipe fragments, possible musical interpretations ofthis important instrument type of the early Classical Period are considered. Probable pitchesand intervals are assessed by means of well-tested software and confirmed experimentally;the required double reeds of a much longer type than known from later periods are shownto be substantiated by iconographic and literary testimony. The harmonic analysis of theinstruments proposes the notion of a rudimentary tetrachordal structure, with equallydivided tetrachords, which is both plausible in terms of music-ethnological parallels and thedevelopment of ancient musical theory. Some of the studied instruments appear to adhereto an early pitch standard, seemingly coinciding with the typical cithara octave. Criticalevaluation of literary sources finally leads to a cautious interpretation as ‘Lydian’ instruments.
