Abstract:

This paper explores the income effect which motherhood has on women, using (American) Census data. The hypothesis states that the income effect is negative. Previous studies have shown that indeed children lower the income of women and that it is decreased with every additional child. We test our hypothesis using data from the Census Bureau from the year 2018, consisting of over 800 000 answers, and running multiple regressions to measure the effect which the number of children have on a woman’s income. As predicted, the results indicate that our hypothesis is true with a 26% decline in income

Species relationships of the endemic Elaphoglossum, and the extent and distribution of population genetic diversity were investigated using allozyme analysis in chapter five. As well as supporting the relationships of the taxa in the molecular phylogeny, the allozyme data suggest a hybrid origin of E. dimorphum between E. nervosum and E. bfurcatum. This thesis explores the negotiations of motherhood identity of four Pakeha New Zealand mothers. During unstructured group interviews the four women were asked to talk about their experiences as mothers and the representations of motherhood they encountered in popular culture. Rather than focus on media texts, the research was designed to explore the embeddedness of media reception in these mother's everyday lives.
