Full textThis thesis examines the role of environmental, social, and economic consciousness as a motivating factor in the adoption of responsible behaviors by collaborative consumers and voluntary simplifiers. The current postmodern context, characterized by a growing concern for social and environmental issues, presents a unique opportunity to study the transition towards socially responsible behaviors. This research contributes to understanding how consciousness of socially responsible consumption can motivate consumers to adopt responsible behaviors. These results provide valuable insights for various stakeholders advocating for sustainable and socially responsible consumption

Full textThis thesis is the result of a five-year research project in the field of communication sciences, focused on the communicational understanding of the concept of "environmental responsible behaviour"(REB). The concept REB was launched in the early days of the environmental movement and has become an important factor in the environmental discourse, especially within the domain of environmental education. However, many authors argue that no real environmental behavioural changes have occurred or that the extend of these changes has been too limited. Therefore, our main concern was to understand if and why the REB is difficult to promote and to adopt. This main question was studied from a communicational perspective in order to understand the individual and the social factors that lead to adoption or rejection. In order to focus our research, we postulated that the REB could usefully be understood as an innovation, and therefore innovation theory was combined with communication theory in order to construct a framework for analysis and understanding. The case of water in Mexico allowed us to explain how REB is defined, translated and implemented. Based on a series of field interviews and accompanied observation, we followed the REB through the communicational dimension, analysing three cases that are typical for countries like Mexico: agricultural water use, domestic water use and water related to health concerns. We observed perceptions and interests as key elements in the communication interactions concerning the adoption of the conceptual innovation. We observed negotiation and dispersion as key processes that allow the innovation to evolve. The major outcome of the thesis is that, using the communicational approach, the difficulties to change environmental behaviour (the environmental failure) can be explained by both the lack of stability of the innovation as well as its discursive success

Full textThe practice of a sporting activity is associated with better health but it can also be linked to health disorders among adolescents (substances use, anxiety, eating disorders). It is therefore necessary to identify what influence these health problems. To answer this question, five lines of analysis have been developed through the evaluation of the sport motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic) and achievement goals (mastery, performance approach and avoidance). A proposal for modelling the influence of these variables on the substances use among adolescents over a period of 20 months was achieved. This research was conducted among 526 adolescents aged 12 to 24 years. Data analysis has identified the essential role of sport motivation and achievement goals in the health disorders during adolescence. Take into account the motivational guidance that the young person sets up a sport, should improve interventions in sport and his well-being

Full textIn a context of change in the water and electricity pricing system in Morocco, can households in Casablanca change their behavior to reduce their consumption ? To answer this question, we identified the different causes of the behavioral lock of individuals and the opportunities for change cited in literature. Then, we have analyzed the evolution of the water and electricity consumption of Moroccan and Casablancan households before the implementation of the new pricing system and observedthe national stakes of the energy sector in Morocco. From 62 qualitative interviews, we have observed the different types of behavior. By analyzing in detail the collected data, we have revealed the different factors influencing the energy consumption behavior of the households interviewed in particular: their attitude, their ability to act, their environmental preference and the social influence of those around them, the behaviors put in place following the tariff increase and their future arrangements. One special attention was allocated to four groups of households that we identified using different criteriaas an extrinsic motivation to reduce energy consumption Finally, we have made recommendations for energy policy makers to support households towards sustainable and responsible consumption

Full textQuestioning people toward a behavior makes this behavior more likely to be performed. Three possible explanations of this question-behavior effect have been investigated in nine experiments: a normative, an attitudinal and a motivational explanation. Four studies tested the normative explanation. Only one of them shows results attesting that people perform the target behavior after questions to avoid cognitive dissonance. Three more experiments brought results supporting the implication of an accessibility (mediator) process in the question-behavior effect. Moreover, the attitude was decisive in the occurrence of the effect. The motivational explanation has been tested with two experiments who did not provide the expected results. The assumption was that questioning activates the goal of performing the behavior with goal pursuit consequences (i.e., implicit motivation and accessibility of the goal-related information). Results have been summarized with meta-analysis and discussed with the aim of improving the understanding of the question-behavior effect

Full textTetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) is the required cofactor for the activity of the enzymes involved in the synthesis of dopamine, serotonin and nitric oxide. BH4 is therefore necessary for many central and peripheral physiological processes including neurotransmission, inflammatory response, oxidative stress regulation, vascular and endothelial function, and metabolism. However, BH4 can be easily oxidized and degraded and decreased BH4 brain levels has been observed in many neuropsychiatric diseases including Alzheimer's disease and major depression. Consequently, the decrease in BH4 levels in these pathologies could contribute to the onset and aggravation of symptoms. Despite these observations, the effects of BH4 administration on brain function and related behavior remain largely unexplored. The aim of this thesis was to characterize the effects of peripheral BH4 administration on brain function and behavior in mice. We investigated the effects of BH4 on the mesolimbic dopaminergic system and motivation in physiological condition and during acute inflammation. Then, we explored the therapeutic potential of BH4 in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. We first demonstrated that BH4 crossed the blood-brain barrier and that a peripheral injection of BH4 increased its cerebral levels. Our results also showed that under physiological condition, BH4 administration potentiates dopamine release into the nucleus accumbens and motivated behaviors. In condition of acute LPS-induced neuroinflammation, BH4 administration helps to reduce neuroinflammation. Therefore, BH4 may have beneficial effects on dopaminergic and motivational disturbances induced by inflammation. In our second study, we demonstrated that chronic administration of BH4 reversed memory deficits observed in the transgenic triple murine model of Alzheimer's disease. We also observed a decrease in neuroinflammation and an improvement in glucose tolerance. However, these memory, metabolic and inflammatory improvements are not accompanied by a decrease in amyloid and tau pathologies. This work had contributed to a better characterization of the neurobiological and behavioral effects of the BH4 and reinforces its therapeutic potential

Full textThis research aims at better understanding the role of the perceived risk in decision-making process to adopt recommended health behavior. Particularly, built on (i) existing gambling studies, the concept of perceived risk both in consumer psychology and in health research, (iii) Rothman and colleagues’ works on health framed-messages and (iv) models of health behavior change, this study contributes to address a specific issue: In what extent does the perceived risk of adopting responsible gambling behavior influence the evaluation and the adoption of such a health behavior? Whereas, to the best of our knowledge, there is no measurement instrument of the perceived risks of adopting responsible gambling behavior, this research aims at developing a measurement index measuring the perceived risks of adopting such a health behavior. Following Churchill’s, Rossiter's, Jarvis and colleagues’ and Mackenzie and colleagues’ recommendations regarding the development of measurement instruments, we conducted a quantitative study (n = 22 gamblers) in order to thoroughly conceptualize the concept of perceived risks of adopting a responsible gambling behavior. Three quantitative studies (n = 605 gamblers) allowed assessing the stability, the predictive and discriminant validity of the measure. Results show that the perceived risks of adopting responsible gambling behavior index is a valid and reliable measure formed of five dimensions: perceived risk of (i) living less excitement, (ii) having less socialization, earning less money, (iv) winning less money and, finally, (v) having less distraction from daily life. Results suggest that gamblers perceive responsible gambling as a risky alternative to gambling because they would not be able to fully satisfy their gambling motivations. Moreover, the perceived risk of adopting responsible gambling behavior play a key role in gamblers' decision to adopt such recommended health behavior

Full textFocusing on the purchase of fair trade products as an illustration, this thesis studies how current social and environmental concerns about consumption are reviving the topic of meaning in consumption pratices. In a postmodern world characterised by symbolism in consumption and a global ‘crisis of meanings', ethical and ‘responsible' consumption behaviors are studied through their contribution to identity construction processes among consumers who declare themselves to be ‘responsible'. The concept of identity, at the crossroads of several disciplines, is analysed in a broad literature review and through its links to consumption behaviors. Consequently, an original epistemological and methodological process is suggested in order to improve the understanding of ethical consumer behaviors : an interpretative process of 14 narratives from 40 individual interviews, studies using a structural analysis. The individual and comparative results enable us to enter into the details of the meanings that these responsible consumers grant to their consumption and the way the concept of identity can be used. An ethical consumption typology based on the meanings given by the narrators is suggested ; it distinguishes the acts of ‘moral conformity' from the deep critical postures, the latter of which derive either from political essence or a desire for liberation from the consumption ‘system'. This study provides interesting inputs that strengthen the existing theories on consumer behavior and gives better clues to business in the markets of ethical or sustainable products

Full textIn an economic context of globalization characterized by a succession of environmental, social and health crises, the recent development of alimentary short supply chains illustrates a major change in the perception of ethic and local consumption. Among these supply chains, the AMAPs, Associations for the Preservation of Local Farming, are grounded in local fair trade and constitute an increasingly privileged mode of supply. Based on ethnomarketing method, of long period immersion on the research field, this thesis aims to a thorough understanding of amapien's consumption. Emerging results lead us to first discuss the concept of proximity, through highlighting the link between proximity, trust and alimentary reassurance. Second, allow us to highlight a quest for the reenchantment of consumption, that requires the valorization of the act of simple buying and a quest for hedonism in the experience of consumption, the rooting of the individual through the quest of link and authenticity by consumption and finally a quest for spirituality. Finally, these results brought to light the empowerment of the amapien consumer, who takes power by participating to the shaping of market offer, and thanks to a socially responsible consumption, that may be connected, for some amapiens, to a resistance through and to consumption

Full textAttention is essential for mental functioning (in individuals) because of its implication in behavioural regulation and adaptation. LaBerge (1995) proposed a model of attention including the notion of preparatory attention, in which the frontal lobes seem to play a crucial role. Preparatory attention contributes to goal achievement and, more generally, to adaptative behavior. We studied preparatory attention, using an experimental test developed by LaBerge (LaBerge et al. , 2000) in patients suffering from a neurodegenerative disease involving frontal lobe dysfunction (frontotemporal dementia associated or not with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease) in which attentional defecits are frequently described. The results are in contradiction to precedent studies. The slope of response times, measure of preparatory attention proposed by LaBerge, could reflect different processes depending on whether this slope is high or low. The study of the orientation of selective attention using the spatial cueing task (Posner, 1980) demonstrates an engagement and/or disengagement deficit associated with an inhibition of return deficit in patients with FTD and AD. We also studied the implication of preparatory attention in planning and activities of daily living. The relationship with planning and activities of daily living confirms the necessity to dissociate both types of slope in so far as only low slopes are correlated with these activities. The low slopes may potentially be the reflection of a deficit in working memory, global attention or divided attention. Our results confirm the implication of an attentional component in planning and activities. However, preparatory attention does not seem to be linked specifically to these activities

Full textCompulsive eating, found in some forms of obesity, and anorexia nervosa (AN) can be considered as opposite pathologies in regard of their symptomatology, i.e. increased/decreased food intake, decreased/increased physical activity and decreased/increased motivation in obesity and AN, respectively. Even though little is known regarding the pathophysiological mechanisms of these diseases, accumulating evidence point to a dysfunction of the mesolimbic pathway, and the Nucleus Accumbens (NAc) in particular. My PhD project aimed at determining whether manipulating the activity of discrete neuronal subpopulations of the NAc could be sufficient to mimic symptomatic dimensions of compulsive eating and/or AN. The NAc is mainly composed of medium spiny neurons (MSN) that are segregated in 2 populations based on the dopamine receptors they express, either D1 (D1-MSN) or D2 (D2-MSN). Using a chemogenetic approach coupled with analyses of i) incentive processes, ii) food intake and iii) physical activity in mice, we found that acute activation of D2-MSNs or D1-MSNs leads to obesity-like and AN-like phenotypes, respectively. I will assess whether chronic manipulations of each MSN subpopulations is sufficient to trigger obesity or anorexia like symptom or– or concomitantly thanks to a unique double-transgenic mouse model. We observe while D1 chronic activation mediate weigh lose as a result of an excessive wheel running, weigh gain trigger by chronic D2 activation is due to low physical activity and daily consumption increase

Full textWe studied the influence of social motivation, defined as the motivation to seek social proximity, on the formation of social relationships between familiar conspecifics in Japanese quail selected for their high (HSR) or low (LSR) social reinstatement behaviour. After a short duration of pair contact (= 24h), one-week-old LSR quail showed a stronger preference for a familiar conspecific than HSR quail. However, six-week-old HSR quail revealed a stronger ability to discriminate according to familiarity than LSR ones. The HSR quail chicks formed a weaker social bond with the familiar conspecific than LSR ones, despite their higher social motivation. The strength of the bond decreased with increasing group size in both lines. Social instability induced a decrease in emotional reactivity (ER) of LSR quail, which indicates habituation to social changes, whereas ER of HSR quail was high regardless of social conditions. At last, LSR quail chicks showed a higher ER than LSR quail. To conclude, social motivation clearly influences the way Japanese quail chicks perceive their social environment and interact with it, and LSR quail seem able to adapt more easily to life in groups

Full textThis study enhances an ecological approach of the motivated behaviour of learners in their 9th class, carried out as a part of a literal arithmetic learning activity, and mediated by a gamified Computing Environment for Human Learning (CEHL), in which game elements are implemented. This approach shows that motivated behaviour and gamification are situated. This means that the effects produced depend in part on the individual characteristics of learners (sex, socioeconomic affiliation). Furthermore, it also depends on their relationship to mathematics (initial motivation), and to the game (player profile). In addition, it hinges on their perception of the motivational style of the teacher, which is characterized by the autonomy left to the learner, the way the teacher structures the activity and is involved in it. The ecological approach thus makes it possible to find a set of determinants of motivated behaviour in a non-hierarchical learner-CEHL-teacher relationship, showing the conditions for the integration for this type of CEHL

Full textThe present dissertation aims at applying goal regulation theory to the study of innovative work behaviour. After reviewing the state-of-the-art of innovation literature (first chapter), we conducted three empirical studies on distinct samples. In the first study (second chapter), we hypothesized and found that proactive goal generation – which includes envisioning and planning processes – was positively related to innovative behaviour, and that affective commitment, interacting with production ownership or, alternatively, with leader support for innovation, strengthened this relationship. In the second study (third chapter), we proposed and showed that planning mediated the link between envisioning and innovation, and that psychological empowerment and team support for innovation positively moderated the relationship between envisioning and planning. Finally, in the third study (fourth chapter), we theorized and demonstrated that learning goal orientation, psychological climate for innovation, and task variety enhanced innovative performance indirectly through the mediation of envisioning and planning, and that learning goal orientation amplified the relationship between planning and innovation. Theoretical and practical implications of our works are addressed in the general discussion

Full textThis thesis aim is to participate to the study of organizational commitment. At the begining of this research is a case of change in a public hospital where absenteeism rate feld down between the anouncement of the change and the moment when it hapened. This problematics lead us to choose the organizational commitment as the variable to be explained, job involvement as a middle variable, experiences of change and identification variables. To well understand this phenomenon we have defined a quantitative methdology with a necessary first qualitative step which aim was the largest comprehension of the diferent faces the problematic has made emerged. The research covered a 94 persons sample while the experiences have been measured with an had-doc scale. We use the allen et meyer's affective and continuance scale and lodhal et kejner's scale. The research results lead us to identify experiences structurating the hospital staff experiences of change. We showed these different experiences can predict wether affective commitment or continuance commitment. In addition the interest of a jointly use of organizational commitment and job involvement we have shown the importance of "number of children". Eventually this results are discussed. We have shown the contributions and limits of this research

Full textIn the current context of Vietnam, the stabilization of the growing development, the research of a better quality in human resources for a sustainable development are key elements. The emergency is to rise up the quality of education to fuel the social and economic development process in the country. This is the objective pursued by the Vietnamese government's policy of emulation at each level of education. However, those last years, two phenomenons appeared. First of all, is the indifference coming from the majority of students who are no longer interested by the emulation and refuses to make efforts to be member of students’ competition teams at every level. Secondly, it is the refusal of a part of the student's parent to allow their kids to participate in the teams. Consequently, the objectives initially set up, start to be threatened. The current work is interested to the elite system established in Vietnam. It will try to analyze the reason of this evolution and introduce proposals to this phenomenon in targeting the four important actors for the emulation system success that are educational frameworks, teachers, students and their parents. We will establish surveys by questionnaires towards those factors to understand, to understand the psychological implications of the emulation system currently in force

Full textThe objective of this study was to compare the impact of using only a Fitbit watch with using a watch as well as receiving counselling in kinesiology and nutrition on motivation, physical activity, and life satisfaction. Sixteen sedentary men aged 20-35 (mean: 26.9 ± 4.1 years) were randomly assigned to one of two groups: G1) Fitbit only (n = 8); G2) Fitbit + counseling (n = 8). They were evaluated before and after the 60-day intervention as well as six months later (follow-up). They completed the Recent Physical Activity Questionnaire (QAPR), the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire 2 (BREQ-2) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Participants demonstrated significant improvements in regards to physical activities (lower sitting time, higher level of physical activity (time and frequency)). However, there are no statistically significant differences in self-determination between or within groups (over time). Finally, some stability of life satisfaction over time for both groups was observed. Besides, it is important to be cautious when generalizing these results to the general population. The relevance of using ambulatory devices as Fitbit within kinesiological and nutritional counselling is discussed.

Full textThe organizations come under many pressures leading them to seek an increase in their economic performance so as to survive and thrive in an extremely competitive environment, without sacrificing a social performance which guarantee the satisfaction of their customers and their staff. In this context, the management of inefficient behaviours in the workplace, conform or not to the standards in force within the organization, becomes crucial. Studiing the case of deviant and inefficient non violent behaviours of employees in the workplace, we show that such behaviours strongly handicap the economic and social performance, to the detriment of all stakeholders of the organization as well as its customers. Taking the case of seven different organizations in the service sector, we show that their organizational structures, both physical, technological, equipmental and normative (rules of the game and working procedures) have many defects that prevent them from influencing behaviours in the workplace towards efficiency, explaining in part the adoption of deviant behaviours in the workplace. We show also that managerial practices are not sufficient to maintain the adaptation of organizational structures to the changing environment and ensure compliance. We observed that a combined development of organizational structures and managerial practices allowed to influence behaviours in the workplace towards greater compliance and efficiency. We accordingly noticed an increase in the economic and social performance of the organizations studied

Full textCoordination failures and interest conflicts are persistent problems in organizations. These problems are not merely economic or rational. Social preferences also influence how these problems are understood and addressed. Understanding the influence of social preferences on problem solving, collaboration, and conflict resolution can improve organizational functioning. I find that the social preferences of status striving and relationship maintenance hinder one another: Status striving reduces the collaboration benefit from relationships, and relationship dampens the competitive impact of status. Social preferences also affect the formation and retention of cultural routines. Groups with a strong sense of identity use their problem-solving routines more consistently and are more likely to retain the routines during individual decision making. Status interferes with the formation and retention of routines in that groups are less consistent in using them and individuals show lower retention of the group routines. Relationship between two of the three members helps the two to solve the problems more consistently, but the group as a whole applies its routines less consistently, and the retention of routines also suffers. Finally I find that the demand for leadership goes up the more difficult the coordination and conflict resolution problems become, and that leadership enables the group to achieve higher value outcomes as compared to individual actions and mutual punishment when the coordination problems become harder to solve

Thus, the model proposed by Meyer, Becker and Vandenberghe has been used, in order to be tested empirically. Besides, different conceptions of values have been studded. Finally, we propose to use the theoretical approach of Mc Donald and Gandz (1991, 1992). Main objective of this research is to measure effects of individual values on motivation and organizational commitment, for a population of HRD and RH managers, all members of the association NADHR (National Association for Human Resources Directors). These French managers have been contacted by internet (http://www. Valeurs-gestion-des-ages. Com/) in order to answer to this national survey. 475 answers have been received for a target population of 1700 managers. 430 questionnaires have been treated and analyzed. The data analysis consisted in several PCA and in a typological analysis. Multiple regression analyses confirmed positive effects of values on motivation and commitment, as it was proposed. Finally, this exploratory survey (drived during the year 2007) shows that HRD and RH managers have two main operational value sets to drive their HR functions: "conservatism" and " group’s cohesion ". Results of multiple regression analyses found that motivation was predicted by the RH manager’s “group’s cohesion” values whereas commitment was predicted by the RH manager’s “conservatism” values

Full textForeign language teaching in public schools in Brazil needs deep changes for the learning-teaching process to be more effective. Usually, students leave school after studying the foreign language for four years without sufficient knowledge to communicate in the language. This indicates that something needs revising and updating. Communication Pedagogy can offer an important contribution for education today. The need for the outside world to enter the classroom, including the new technologies, is urgent. Through these technologies, textual patterns change, becoming smaller, and resorting to plenty of images. These new texts are not present in the vast majority of Brazilian public schools, which, in the case of foreign languages, prefer to use long texts, most of the time without images. Even when images are present they are used as illustrations only, not actively worked on. As a result of Communication Pedagogy, with an emphasis on Multimodality, we resort to a visual grammar perspective to explain the new textual patterns that circulate in our society. It is from this perspective that we designed a project asking groups of students from public schools in Pelotas, Southern Brazil, to produce multimodal texts. The students created booklets after reading Little Prince and watching the movie based on the book. These booklets were then analyzed in the light visual grammar, as proposed by Kress and van Leeuwen. Our initial hypothesis that students knew how to use multimodal structures in their productions, even if intuitively, was confirmed. Besides that, students also showed a high level of autonomy and motivation, consistent with their involvement in the tasks that were proposed

Full textThis research seeks to characterize the concept of time-pressure and its effects. A review of the interdisciplinary literature makes clear three principal effects of time-pressure: the acceleration, the selection, and the change of the adopted decision-making strategy. An exploratory qualitative study enriches the concept. The union of this approach with the models proposed in the published literature gives birth to the integrating framework, which goal is to test the effects of timepressure according to four decision-making channels: Systematic (S), Affective (A), based on cognitive Shortcuts (R), and using mechanisms of Imitation (I). Three of the four channels are validated. The experiment reveals that consumers adopt simultaneous and complementary decision-making channels. Time-pressure influences purchasing intentions in direct and indirect fashion. The emotional and cognitive dimensions explain why and how the time constraint influences the consumer’s behavioral response

Full textAlthough the drive for muscularity was related to some deviant behaviors such as eating disorders, the underlying types of motivation and socio-cognitive variables are only scarcely identified to date. The main goal of this thesis was to apply the trans-contextual model of motivation (Hagger & Chatzisarantis, 2009), integrating the theory of self-determination (Deci & Ryan, 2000) and the theory of planned behavior (Ajzen & Madden, 1986), to show the motivational sequence underlying the drive for muscularity behaviors among male bodybuilders and the eating behaviors in male athletes practicing at risk sports such as bodybuilding and running. Five studies comprise this dissertation. Study 1 presented a literature review of the drive for muscularity and muscle dysmorphia among bodybuilders. The purpose of the study 2 was to develop and validate a questionnaire (DMS-FR) to measure the drive for muscularity among French-speaking male athletes. Studies 3 and 4 applied the trans-contextual model of motivation in the drive for muscularity behaviors context among male bodybuilders, and in the eating behaviors context among male athletes practicing at risk sports (i.e., bodybuilding vs running). Study 5 qualitatively explored other psychosocial factors that may explain the development dynamics of eating disorders, according to the competitive level of the bodybuilders. The main results showed that different types of motivation (i.e., auto-determined and controlled) were positively related to drive for muscularity behaviors among male bodybuilders and to eating behaviors among male bodybuilders and runners, both directly and through the socio-cognitive variables of the theory of planned behavior. This thesis defends the importance of studying the psychosocial mechanisms which could explain deviant eating behaviors among male bodybuilders in the perspective of developing preventive tools

Full textOur study focused on the genetic control of social and fear behaviors and their relationships with production traits in a second generation crossing between two lines of quail divergently selected for their social reinstatement behavior. The results warn us about a possible deleterious effect of the selection for higher productivity on the animal’s sociability and emotional reactivity. At the same time, they also indicate possible synergies between a stronger social motivation and a precocious laying onset, or a lower emotional reactivity toward a novel object and a higher egg production. The study allowed us to construct the first genetic map of medium density using SNP markers in the quail. Linkage analyses reveal a total of 45 QTLs with 23 linked to behavioral traits and 22 to the production traits. Most of the behavioral QTLs were linked to the social motivation (15). Also, some regions control both emotional reactivity and weight or sociability and the age at first egg. At this stage of the study, several candidate genes related to sociability were suggested

Full textThis thesis proposes a complementary vision in the study of the post-merger integration phase by analyzing the processes of identification of the employees to the merger. Organizational identification has an influence on employees' commitment. Employees' commitment is a key factor in the success of the cooperation during the merger. The object of search of this doctoral research is the identity transition lived by the employees following a merger. Individuals having a dual identification, i. E. Individuals able to rely on several identities are more at ease with changing situations. This thesis examines two questions : (1) How does dual identification develop during the identity transition lived by the employees after a merger ?; (2) Which is the influence of the dual identification on employees' commitment? This research analyzes quantitative and qualitative data collected at Air France and KLM, that is to say more than 3000 questionnaires and 100 interviews. The longitudinal design makes it possible to analyze employees' reactions six, twelve and eighteen months after the merger. Thanks to the analysis of the antecedents and consequences of the dual identification, this research contributes to a better understanding of the identity transition after a merger. It proposes to the executives some little known tools to improve the management of the process of integration after a merger

Full textThe object of this research is centred on Individual Coaching in Company. Here is it about new and very different strategic models, which take into account the behavioural dimension of actors: personal accompaniment which we could, in contradistinction to coaching gurus and in a little bit excessive way, qualify « Humanistic coaching ». First of all, the study attempts to define what are the objectives, the limits and the sources. It is also the occasion to present in the detail the methods used by the qualified coaches. Then, we approach the post industrial society context , demonstrating how the working can become a source to be badly even source of suffering. We bring, « de facto », answering elements to the question: in what is the coaching a process of accompaniment in the change in company in post modern society ? Finally, by display of concrete cases, we explain, as example, implemented practical variations in the banking tertiary sector

Full textThe research, made beside two groups of employees (permanents, sub-contractors on site), aims at : examining if this professional status are combined with some profiles of working relationship ; showing how the professional self-efficacy and the social comparisons intervene in the relation between status and working relationship. These hypothesis are testing within the framework of an analytical approach (from dimensions usually studied separately) and an approach of integration (articulate these dimensions). An ascending hierarchical classification separated three profiles of working relationship : no polarized implication, polarized implication, recess. The results show that the professional self-efficacy and the social comparisons have some effects on the dimensions of working relationship and their organizations. They show too the interest and the complementarity from two approaches in order to explain the variability of working relationship between the two studied groups

Full textEating disorders (ED) are known to have complex etiology with low and worrisome recovery rates (Keel & Brown, 2010). Various motivational issues would trigger this recovery. However, studies about ED’s motivation show mixed results, suggesting a non-optimal understanding of this concept. It appears relevant to explore new avenues that could refine our understanding of the motivational dynamics in those disorders. The present study attempts to explore motivation determinants in patients with ED through the Self-Determination Theory (SDT). More specifically, the objective is to explore the extent to which changes in the basic psychological need satisfaction and self-determination in motivation may be related to the evolution of pathological eating behaviors in people suffering of ED and following a treatment program. The initial sample is composed of 37 women participating in an intensive treatment program for ED who completed, at three times (before, in the middle and at the end of treatment), questionnaires evaluating SDT constructs as well as pathological eating symptoms. The results show significant associations between the quality of motivation evolution and the improvement of pathological eating symptoms. Patients who benefit the most from the treatment are those with the higher self-determined motivation in general during the treatment. Moreover, self-determination level in motivation is a predictor of the positive eating symptoms evolution. In conclusion, the results show that SDT concepts are relevant in the motivational dynamics in ED as well as in their treatment.

Full textThis thesis studies the Tunisian banking sector and why it is characterized by large volumes of nonperformantloans. Based on a sample of 11 commercial listed banks during 2009-2011, we examinethe impact of ownership structure and board characteristics on credit risk. Our results reveal thedeficiency of these governance mechanisms. From the appearance of new attempts to explain bank failures by the contribution of behavioralfinance, we try to identify the role of overconfidence in the reckless credit policy. Our results showthat overconfidence recent worsening Non Performants Loans of Tunisian banks. In order to deepen our research, it seems interesting to check the impact of overconfidence on bankers’risk-taking behavior. We extend our work with an experimental study to detect the impact ofoverconfidence on the banker’s risk-taking behavior. Our results of multinomial logistic regressionsshow that banker’s overconfidence evolves with experience and influences negatively his credit risktakingbehavior

Full textThe literature on co-creation platforms has been mainly focused on studying the crowds (i.e., participants) and that by investigating their motivations, their characteristics, and the strategies they use (i.e., cooperation, competition, coopetition). Therefore, researchers did not study opportunism even if its importance has been emphasized in prior research. To fill this gap, our research aims to explore and understand opportunistic behavior of actors or co-creators (i.e., brands, platforms, and participants) in the virtual context, especially that of co-creation platforms, using the method of Netnography in two famous co-creation platforms and a forum which is dedicated to different creators. Our research background, the main results as well as theoretical, methodological, and practical implications are presented in the related chapters

Full textThe main objective of this thesis is to propose a specific reading of suicidal ideas involved in the decision to commit suicide by using a psychometric instrument, namely the Scale of Suicidal Ambivalence (EAS). This scale intends to evaluate suicide-promoting thoughts versus thoughts inhibiting the suicide act, with their simultaneous presence constituting suicidal ambivalence. When the weight of thoughts favouring suicide outbalances that of suicide-inhibiting thoughts in the decision scale, one is expected to proceed to the act.Suicidal crisis inpatients were recruited (N = 120) for the purposes of the study. Some of the patients had very recently committed an attempt to suicide (<6 days), others less recently (<6 months) and others before a considerable amount of time (> 6 months).A first study tested the psychometric properties of our scale anticipating the assessment of suicidal ambivalence, allowing us to regard suicidal ambivalence as a valid construct and consider the future clinical use of this scale. Other results highlighted a strong adherence to suicide-motivating thoughts just before the suicide attempt. Permissive ideas promoting suicide [P+] manifest more strongly in the actual passing to the act. Regarding those who recently attempted suicide (<6 days), they tended to have a lower current motivation for living compared to the others; hence the importance of intervening early after suicide attempt. The findings of this study allow us to propose a cognitive-motivational support for individuals who committed suicide, that integrates the concept of suicidal ambivalence

Full textThe research work conducted in the framework of this thesis aims to contribute to three issues related to the nature of information, its perception and its transmission using a mobile application (tool for change). Our contributions on the nature of information and more particularly its complexity are intended to facilitate the understanding of information. Based on the algorithmic theory of information and more particularly the complexity of information (Kolmogorov complexity), a new classification method has been proposed. This work has allowed us to better understand the impact of information complexity on individuals. We also paid particular attention to the perception of information by analyzing the characteristics that influence the decision process in humans. From this analysis, an exploratory eye-tracking study was carried out to highlight the effects of information complexity and position on an individual’s choice in an urban mobility task. Our research on the creation of a behavior change tool led us to the design and development of a mobile application to monitor one’s own CO2 consumption. The objective of this application is to understand the factors of acceptance of these tools and the influence of the complexity of the information on these factors. This contribution is also an experimentation in real conditions of all our work, in a research context still little exploited, the urban mobility
