Full textFlera studier har undersökt sambandet mellan arbetstillfredsställelse och ålder. Resultaten tyder på att äldre trivs bättre med jobbet men det saknas dock empiri som förklarar detta eventuella samband. Denna studie syftade till att undersöka förekomsten av samband mellan upplevd arbetstillfredsställelse och variablerna; Herzbergs hygien-och motivationsfaktorer samt ålder. En enkät delades ut till 100 anställda på psykologiska institutionen vid Stockholms universitet. Resultatet visade inget signifikant samband mellan ålder och arbetstillfredsställelse. Inget signifikant samband återfanns heller mellan interna och externa faktorer i relation till arbetstillfredsställelse. Frånvaron av signifikanta samband diskuterades dels i termer av att upplevd arbetsplatstillfredsställelse är individ- och arbetsplatsspecifikt samt att ännu okända variabler kan ha betydande inverkan.

Full textThe purpose of the study is to examine whether Herzberg's two-factor theory is still relevant in practice today in the teaching profession. The study is qualitative with a deductive approach based on Herzberg's two-factor theory. A total of 10 semi-structured interviews were conducted with high school and university teachers, which were then analyzed thematically. The result showed that Herzberg's theory is still applicable and valid in the profession of teaching. The results, on the other hand, show that there are differences in which factors that are the most important for the teachers in relation to what Herzberg claimed. The most important factors for the teachers' work motivation are having their own responsibility over their time, recognition and the psychosocial work environment. Suggestions for further research are to secure the ranking of the factors that are most important for the work motivation within the teaching profession. Also evaluate if there are factors from Herzberg's two-factor theory that are ranked differently in other professions.

Full textThis is a study that investigate work motivation and work motivation conditions among different categories of telemarketers based on Herzberg's two factor theory regarding hygiene- and motivation factors. The study highlights two main research questions; the first question investigates if the priorities and the assigned role of occupational factors in job satisfaction and job performance at work among telemarketers differ based on gender, socioeconomic status, working hours, education, age and salary. The second question investigates if different job satisfaction among telemarketers is depending on gender, socioeconomic status, working hours, education, age and salary. The material that forms the basis of this study is a survey in the form of comprehensive survey at a call center with a total of 104 respondents in the study. The study is limited to investigate the working conditions of motivation from an employee perspective in their own work. Previous research shows that the factors contributing to job satisfaction and job performance differs depending on various background variables. That is, the various factors in individuals work affect job satisfaction and job performance in different ways. Previous research also shows that job satisfaction is different at work due to different background variables. The result of this study shows that factors in job satisfaction and job performance varies between different categories, however, the main result regarding job satisfaction and job performance shows that hygiene factors in the form of pleasant colleagues, salary and mental work environment to be the strongest factors for all categories. The manager's leadership tends to be, based on the result, of the greatest importance for job satisfaction on all categories. A distinctive result regarding job performance is also that the motivating factor varied tasks proves to be of significant importance for the category of women, unskilled workers, part-time, less educated, younger and low pay. Regarding job satisfaction the result shows that it differs between the different categories of telemarketers who participated in the study. The categories of women, skilled workers, less educated and younger adolescents tend to express a lower degree of job satisfaction.

Full textDuring half a century the society has been changed from an industrial to knowledge-driven society. Industry companies have standardized requirements and companies that works with development in production has unique qualifications. The public employment office was created during a time that each tailored to then general requirements were dominating and the adaptation average appropriate worker and appropriate work where general. When the monopoly was stopped, crew companies begun to settle down on the market that flexibly adapt themselves to carried out now specialized needs that require sophisticated adaptation average work and job seekers. Companies lose the confidence for the public employment office and politicians threaten the organization with big closure. If the public employment office can continue to exist the adaptation of the average appropriate work and appropriate job seeker must function better. This led to the essay's aim: Which differences are between the public employment office and the private employment offices with respect to change ability?
In order to reply to the aim deductive run-up and qualitative survey method with semi structured interviews on a public employment office and private employment office were used. A higher manager and two section managers were interviewed on the public employment office and a manager on Adecco with snowball selection stem to get higher results that otherwise could not have been possible.
The result showed that the public employment office is devoting too much time to administrative information and meetings that instead would give results through communicating with carried out. But the personnel is motivated and becomes encouraged to giving new proposals, but that the legislation does not permit all changes. The crew company Adecco is a profit driven company that aims itself on profitable trade groups and does not have an extensive legislation what do that changes easy can come to levels. A lot of resources are imposed carried out and the adaptation goes good.
The conclusion is drawn that the public employment office can deliver a customer value to carry out. In order to that all companies will experience a value the public employment office also needs to concentrate against companies that require university graduates.
Under ett halvt sekel har samhället förändrats från industrisamhälle till kunskapssamhälle. Industriföretag har standardiserade krav och företag som sysslar med produktionsutveckling har unika kvalifikationer. Den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen skapades under en tid som var anpassad till då generella krav var dominerande och anpassningen mellan lämplig arbetare och lämpligt arbete var generell. När monopolet avvecklades började bemanningsföretag etablera sig på marknaden som flexibelt anpassar sig till företagens numera specialiserade behov som kräver förfinad anpassning mellan arbete och arbetssökande. Företag mister förtroendet för den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen och politiker hotar organisationen med stora nedläggningar. För att den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen skall kunna fortsätta existera måste anpassningen mellan lämpligt arbete och lämplig arbetssökande fungera bättre. Allt detta ledde fram till uppsatsens syfte: Vilka skillnader finns mellan den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen och de privata arbetsförmedlingarna med avseende på förändringsförmåga?
För att svara på syftet användes deduktiv ansats och kvalitativ undersökningsmetod med semistrukturerade intervjuer på en offentlig arbetsförmedling respektive privat arbetsförmedling. En högre chef och två mellanchefer intervjuades på den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen samt en chef på Adecco med snöbollsurval för att få fram högre resultat som annars inte hade varit möjligt.
Resultatet gav att inom den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen ägnas allt för mycket åt administrativa uppgifter och möten som istället skulle ge resultat genom att kommunicera med företagen. Men personalen är motiverad och blir uppmuntrade till att ge nya förslag, men att regelverket inte tillåter alla förändringar. Bemanningsföretaget Adecco är ett vinstdrivande företag som inriktar sig på lönsamma yrkesgrupper och har inte ett omfattande regelverk vilket gör att förändringar lätt kan komma till stånd. Mycket resurser läggs på företagen och anpassningen går bra.
Slutsatsen dras att den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen kan leverera ett kundvärde till företagen. För att alla företag skall uppleva ett värde behöver den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen även inrikta sig mot företag som kräver akademiker.

Full textMotivation is a key factor for the success of a project. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the understanding of how project managers are motivating project teams. The empirical data is based on qualitative data from six personal interviews with project managers in the technology industry. The empirical material has been analyzed mainly with the motivation theories Self Determination Theory and the Two factor model. The study found seven main themes that could categorize the project managers ways of action: Theme 1 – Cohesion and Social relations, Theme 2 – Meaningful work - creating common view of project goals, Theme 3 – Information exchange and Progress, Theme 4 - Participation, Responsibility and Trust, Theme 5 – Degree of Control, Theme 6 – Feedback and Recognition, Theme 7 – Celebrating success and conclusion. The ways of action can be summarized to: Getting to know the group. Giving an overview of the project. Sharing information and success of the project. Allowing everyone to participate and delegate responsibility. Having a balanced control function. Giving continues feedback. Celebrating success. The analysis with the Self Determination Theory showed that the basic psychological needs autonomy, competence and relatedness, were affected within the seven themes. The same ways of action could be experienced in various ways depending how they were performed, with the effect that end up in different places on the internalization scale. The project managers mainly used external factors to influence motivation. The analysis with the Two factor model showed that the project managers used motivational factors to a greater extent than hygiene factors to motivate, except for social relations. This was probably due to the fact that hygiene factors usually are company-specific and are beyond the control of the project managers. The analysis showed that the seven themes described in the study influenced different motivational needs. Every project manager had an understanding that motivation was important and that internal motivation was preferable. However, nothing in the study indicated that the project managers had a greater understanding of the psychological processes of the individuals had, that their ways of action influenced. The project managers’ ways of action were based on their own experiences, rather than anchored in formulated processes or theories. None of the companies in the study had an conscious articulated motivation strategy that project managers could use.

Full textThe purpose of the thesis was to gain a greater understanding of what motivates women to take up a position as a squad commander, soldier, or sailor (GSS) in the Swedish Armed Forces. The study provides a piece of the puzzle on what motivates women to take up employment, which is important as the Armed Forces is facing personnel growth while the agency today does not reach the stated goals in the mentioned personnel category. In the study, we can see that women take a job as they are primarily looking for a profession that can give them opportunities for self-realization, a connection with a sense of belonging and community. These driving forces have been explained and reported with the help of motivation theories. The characteristic of the study is that women's motivation to take up employment as GSS has not been studied before. As no clear differences between theories and the empirical data of the study have been demonstrated, we see that there are other factors that must be affected if more women are to take a job as GSS. The Armed Forces, and perhaps also society at large, must highlight the role of the Armed Forces and clarify the possibilities serving within the authority as GSS. Influencing an individual's willingness to take up employment is difficult but disseminating enlightening information about positions to the target group of young women is an important factor that can increase the influx of women into GSS positions. At the same time, we see in the study that it would be beneficial to examine the target group's knowledge regarding professions in the Swedish Armed Forces and then GSS in particular. Recommendations to the Armed Forces are to study why developed goals are not achieved but even more importantly, review and edit the goals based on the target group's interest to achievable levels, focusing on the conditions of the population. Information activities within the framework of the basic training must continue to be carried out in a coordinated manner. The study shows that these information efforts have a good effect and should be developed as the Swedish Armed Forces is facing a growth where the entire population has a significant role as a recruitment basis to realize this.

Full textDe flesta chefer ställs inför frågan hur de bäst motiverar sina medarbetare att prestera väl, men utmaningarna och möjligheterna i motivationsarbetet varierar mellan privata och offentliga organisationer. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka och analysera hur mellanchefer i Uppsala kommuns kommunledningskontor och Vasakronan AB:s region Uppsala använder motivationsverktyg samt vad eventuella skillnader mellan organisationerna beror på. Med utgångspunkt i fem väletablerade motivationsteorier – Herzbergs tvåfaktorteori, Maslows behovshierarki, rättviseteorin, förväntansteorin och målsättningsteorin – skapades en modell över sambandet mellan hur chefer kan motivera sina medarbetare, vad som skiljer olika motivationsverktyg åt och vilka särdrag olika organisationer har. Därefter genomfördes djupintervjuer med tre mellanchefer i respektive organisation för att undersöka hur de resonerade kring användandet av olika motivationsverktyg och de empiriska resultaten analyserades i ljuset av författarnas teoretiska modell. Undersökningen visar att psykosociala motivationsverktyg är de viktigaste i båda organisationerna, men att mellancheferna i Uppsala kommun framförallt motiverar sina medarbetare med meningsfulla arbetsuppgifter och ett viktigt syfte, till skillnad från Vasakronan där utveckling och resultat står i fokus. Vidare framkom att ingen av mellancheferna anser att begränsade ekonomiska resurser utgör något större hinder i motivationsarbetet, men att den djupt rotade likabehandlingskulturen hämmar en individanpassning av motivationsverktygen i Uppsala kommun.

Aim: The aim of this study is to examine what technical consultancies could work with in order to instill the technical consultants with loyalty and motivation. Completion: Eleven technical consultants at eight different technical consultancies have been interviewed. Results: Type of assignment, development of skills and certain reward systems are motivational factors for technical consultants. The loyalty of the consultants depends on the psychological contract, which contains the motivational factors as well as three hygienic factors; salary, formal education and certain reward systems. The psychological contract also contains the values and social activities of the technical consultancy.

Full textTitle: Personality traits and motivation Purpose: To illustrate how a senior executive’s personality traits affect how they motivate their employees. Theory: The Big Five, work motivation and Herzberg's two factor model. Method: A qualitative study with a constructive perspective with one hermeneutical position. Four semi structured interviews were conducted, all of them were recorded and transcribed. Respondents were selected with a purposive sampling. Empirical: A compilation of the four semi-structured interviews conducted. Conclusion: A senior executive’s personality traits were found to have a certain impact on how they motivate their employees. The extent to which this effect is varied between the various senior executives. In one case where a senior executive had average levels of most personality dimensions and low levels of extraversion as well as emotionality, they were perceived to be calm, reserved and task-oriented. Which affected motivational work by using internal motivation factors in such a way that they left the responsibility to the employees themselves. In another case, a senior executive had distinctive levels of agreeableness and conscientiousness, a little over the means of extraversion and low levels of emotionality and openness to experience. Where primarily, there was a low level of extraversion that suggested that they are more task-oriented, which proved to impact in order to motivate their employees, through the internal motivation factor recognition. Another senior executive with similar personality characteristics, though with a significantly higher level of extraversion, which means that they are person-oriented instead, involved much more in their employees more than individual individuals and showed a much greater interest in their development and well-being. The senior executive used internal motivational factors such as recognition, achievement, personal development opportunities and hygiene factors such as rewards and salaries. Another senior executive was found to use the same types of motivational factors, but with a completely different level of commitment and interest in their employees, which is probably due to the personality traits, which is the opposite of the other senior executives

Full textSyftet med undersökningen är att undersöka skillnader och likheter i motivation mellan ideellt och kommersiellt ledarskap genom att beskriva och analysera hur ledare i sex organisationer arbetar med motivation.
Fottler (1981) visar på de skillnader som finns mellan dessa organisationstyper. Vidare beskrivs Herzbergs (1964 tvåfaktorsteori som behandlar hur medarbetare kan motiveras genom antingen inre- eller yttre motivationsfaktorer, så kallade motivations- och hygienfaktorer.
Den ideella sektorn saknar många av de incitamentsinstrument som den kommersiella besitter, exempelvis lön, vilket medför att de i större utsträckning motiverar med hjälp av Herzbergs (1964 motivationsfaktorer som litteraturen föreskriver. De kommersiella ledarna verkar dock medvetna om vikten av att motivera genom dessa. En annan faktor som också påverkar ledarskapet är organisationsstorleken.

Full textThe most common type of job in Sweden is to work as an Assistant Nurse in elderly care. It is also the profession with the highest level of sick leave. The job implies a heavy workload and the working conditions are far from ideal. The demographic development in Sweden contributes to an increased demand for trained staff in elderly care. Both new recruitment and existing staff shall be required to meet this need. Employees who thrive in their jobs have a higher level of commitment and work harder to do a good job. Job satisfaction can thus be said to be one of the factors contributing to ensuring an adequate supply of necessary nursing skills. The purpose of this thesis is therefore to provide an in-depth understanding of motivation and job satisfaction amongst Assistant Nurses in elderly care. Factors that affect motivation and job satisfaction in the workplace, both positively and negatively, have been identified by interviewing 9 Assistant Nurses who work in nursing homes. The empirical data gathered in the study has been analysed utilising the Self-Determination Theory, Herzberg's two-factor theory and previous research on motivation and job satisfaction among Assistant Nurses in elderly care. The results of this thesis reveal that on the whole, Assistant Nurses’ motivation and job satisfaction are largely affected by their work situation and by how the work is organized. The working conditions either encourage or hinder the opportunities for Assistant Nurses from preforming the best possible care of the clients, create good relationships with colleagues and get sufficient time for recuperation. This support, camaraderie and rest, both during and in-between their work shifts, is crucial for their sense of motivation and job satisfaction.

Full textVår studie handlar om motivation och missnöje hos anställda samt chefer. Arbetet handlar merspecifikt om vad som motiverar människor på arbetsplatsen samt vad som gör dem missnöjda.Motivationen kan uppnås genom två typer av belöningar, monetära samt icke-monetärabelöningar. Där monetär belöning innebär prestationslön eller bonus och icke-monetär innebärresor, utrustning och andra förmåner. Detta är den vanligaste formen av belöningssystem varssyfte är att skapa en hög motivation för att säkra effektiviteten hos företagen ellerorganisationen. Uppsatsen utgår mycket från Herzbergs tvåfaktorteori, vilket består avmotivations- och hygienfaktorer. Problemet som kvarstår idag är företagen inte är redo atthöja hygienfaktorerna om de anser de som finns redan är rimliga. Detta kan medföra att deanställda inte känner sig tillräckligt motiverade vilket i sin tur leder till ett missnöje påarbetsplatsen. Företag använder sig av belöningssystem för att rekrytera, motivera och behållakompetenta medarbetare till sina organisationer.I arbetet var frågeställningen: Hur påverkar faktorerna och belöningar de anställda ochcheferna samt vilka faktorer är det som motiverar respektive skapar missnöje påarbetsplatsen?Vårt syfte var att lyfta fram chefers och anställdas synpunkter på vad som är viktigt för demnär dem när det gäller motivations- och hygienfaktorerna och belöningar. Syftet är att habättre inblick i belöningssystemets funktionalitet i organisationen, hur olika belöningar ochfaktorer tillfredsställer medarbetarna.Vi har valt att arbeta med öppna ostrukturerade intervjuer eftersom vi vill skapa en djuparediskussion kring hur viktiga belöningssystem är för respondenterna. Vi använde oss utav sjustycken respondenter varav fyra chefer och tre anställda.I vår studie har vi kommit fram till att chefer och anställda är nöjda med deras monetära ochicke-monetära belöningar och att de upplever lite missnöje på arbetsplatsen. Studien visadeockså att sällan få återkoppling, sämre arbetsförhållande, arbeta under tryck, dålig relationmellan kollegor och mycket ansvar kan i framtiden leda till att anställda tröttnar på jobbet ochatt de då kan söka sig till nya företag som har bättre belöningssystem.

Full textClient contact is a central part of social worker’s work environment. This study examines and highlights social worker’s experiences, feelings and attitude in case of no client contact, and how this affects social worker’s job satisfaction, work motivation and work efficiency. When a client does not come to a booked visit or mismanage his/hers agreed contact frequency with his/hers social worker, "a gap" occur in the work where the social worker’s satisfaction, motivation and efficiency at work tend to change. This study is quantitative and highlights the importance of social worker’s perspective on client contact that fails to appear. To get answers to the questions data were collected through a web survey. The questionnaire was sent out to 284 social workers that are active in Jönköping County, of which 115 social workers responded to the survey. Data were collected from the municipalities of Jönköping County through an online survey. The result shows that the social worker’s sense of support in case of no client contact and the opportunity to spend so much time on the client as the social worker deems necessary, is important for the social workers job satisfaction and motivation. For those social workers that experience client contact that fails to appear as a barrier, it also takes longer to start a new task after the realization that a client fails to appear at the agreed contact. When the client contact fail to appear from social worker’s daily work, it prevents social worker’s opportunity to do their work, which includes to do a meaningful work that the client benefit of and enjoy.
