Abstract An Induction motor reliability survey at an egg processing plant shows that almost 50% of the total motor failures are fan induction motors. Visual investigations of the faulty fan motors show that the main cause of the induction motor failure is air gap eccentricity. In this study, experimental tests are performed on a 1.1kW three-phase induction motor to detect air gap eccentricity and overheating of the induction motor. Heating tests show that end shield housing temperature reaches 100°C with blocked air flow from the fan, which can reduce the lifespan of the bearing. Dimension mea

Reliability is one of the most important requirements for electric motor installations. Bearing assembly is a common source of failure for most electric motors. One of the main reasons for such failures is the wear of the bearing seat of the end shield. This paper presents a combined technology for increasing the durability of the bearing bores of electric motor bearing shields made of aluminum alloys. The technological concept is that a worn-out end-shield bore is firstly restored by supersonic gas-dynamic spraying, and secondly, in order to improve anti-wear properties, it is strengthened by

This chapter looks at economic policy in Northern Ireland in the context of severe economic difficulties experienced by the UK as a whole. It shows how the Labour government sought to shield Northern Ireland from economic realities because of the conflict, increasing public expenditure and desperately seeking industrial investment. The level of desperation in this endeavour is illustrated through examples such as Harland & Wolff’s shipyards and the DeLorean Motor Company. The experience of the 1970s, and particularly under the Labour government, set the pattern for the following decades with a steadily increasing subvention from the rest of the United Kingdom and a growing dependence on the public sector, all at a time when the opposite trend took place in Great Britain.

The work is focused to develop and evaluate the functional correctness of remote controlled water trash collector. A water skimmer is a semi-autonomous device that will float across the water surface of any water body and collect the garbage and the debris floating on the surface. A robot is developed for clearing debris from the water's surface. Arover in construction that can offer great stability, and good maneuverability, and readily collect all the trash floating on the water bodies. A motor-driven collecting-arm system is developed to remove and collect surface debris, collecting the waste and redeploying it into a rectangular basket on the hull through a conveyor belt. Large volumes of debris may be accommodated inside this design, and it makes waste collection efficient in a compact area. Styrofoam will be used to create the hulls for the prototype, which will then be covered in waterproof epoxy and wrapped in fiber. The system's overall weight will be supported by strong, light aluminum framework. The robot’s propulsion system, which will be based on a differential drive mechanism and delivers tremendous thrust and 360o turning capability. Inside the hull, electronic circuits and motors are installed to shield them from the water. Gathered trash can be measured through FSR sensor and the data is updated in the website as database management. This system is cost-effective, robust, and durable. The system is also extended to manage the database for collected waste.

Abstract:
This chapter describes the European political geography of invention, upon which the Anglo-Dutch-American process would draw. Much of the technology underpinning the rise of early modern Europe, including printing, navigation, and gunpowder, developed in China first. Yet in China, long-range voyaging was suppressed, as was printing in Constantinople. These were successful political attempts to control the movement of people and of ideas. In Europe, there was no central power capable of exercising such control, even had the will existed to do so. On the contrary, despite strenuous attempts to shield valuable information from rivals, in Europe new developments and discoveries tended to unleash a field of competitive response. As a result, the early modern acquisition of global empire was the work of many powers, rather than one. Political and (from 1517) religious competition were primary motors of the process, driving it faster and further than would otherwise have been the case.

This article lights the need for the identification of resource elasticity in handheld edge computing systems and its related issues. Under a few developing application situations, for example, in urban areas, operational checking of huge foundations, wearable help, and the Internet of Things, nonstop information streams must be prepared under short postponements. A few arrangements, including various programming motors, have been created for handling unbounded information streams in an adaptive and productive way. As of late, designs have been proposed to utilize edge processing for information stream handling. This article reviews the cutting-edge stream preparing motors and systems for misusing asset versatility which highlights distributed computing in stream preparation. Asset flexibility takes into consideration an application or administration to scale out/in as per fluctuating requests. Flexibility turns out to be much more difficult in conveyed conditions involving edge and distributed computing assets. Device security is one of the real difficulties for fruitful execution of the Internet of Things and fog figuring conditions in the current IT space. Specialists and information technology (IT) associations have investigated numerous answers for shield frameworks from unauthenticated device assaults. Fog registering utilizes organize devices (e.g. switch, switch and center) for dormancy mindful handling of gathered information utilizing IoT. This article concludes with the various process for improvising the resource elasticity of handheld devices for leading the communication to the next stage of computing.

Abstract:
The need for continuous technical development brings fresh innovatory solutions and at the same time indicates new trends. For years, common applied solutions have not been adequate enough to the newly established and evolving needs. Furthermore, the global development brings new challenges and needs for the aviation propulsions. An example of such a problem can be particularly noticeable in recent years, with the growing popularity of remotely controlled, small flying objects, commonly called drones, which designated new opportunities in the field of aviation, as well as become a source of new needs. An unusual challenge is the application of a drone in extremely difficult weather conditions or surrounding conditions causing its multiple and relatively strong bounce off the obstacles that may occur while using the drone to inspect ventilation ducts, in confined areas with a large number of installations, in dense forest conditions or in space with strong turbulent atmospheric conditions. In such cases it is not possible to avoid multiple collisions with various obstacles. It is necessary to design drone and its drive so that such collisions will not damage the flying object and moreover that maintenance of the full control of the drone will be possible. As the answer to those needs a drone was designed with a passive protection system. To protect against the collision consequences, the static parts of the drone—the power supply, controllers, motors and extension devices as well as the rotating parts—propellers are covered outwardly with a protection shield. In this paper the behaviour of the protection system of flying autonomous robot's propulsion during collision with perfectly rigid obstacle was checked. The performed numerical crash analysis simulates probable collision situations in operating conditions specific for the researched drone.

Abstract:
One night in early October 1997, Felipe G., a nine-year-old child of Dominican immigrants to New York City living in East Harlem, woke up struggling for breath. Felipe had had asthma attacks before, and his parents knew, or thought they knew, what to do: they called for an ambulance, which rushed him to the emergency room of Harlem Hospital nearby. But this time he stopped breathing on the way to the hospital, and could not be revived there. His younger sister Ana also has asthma, but so far has never had to go to the emergency room. The tenement building in which Felipe’s family lives is three blocks from the Harlem River Drive, a highway on which thousands of cars travel each workday, emitting, in spite of their catalytic converters, large quantities of oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and incompletely combusted gasoline. Several blocks north is a parking garage for the diesel trucks of the New York City Department of Sanitation. The drivers of the trucks that use the lot often keep their motors idling, so that great quantities of diesel exhaust particles are emitted to the surrounding area. The Harlem district of New York City, inhabited mainly by African-Americans and Hispanics, is shielded to a large extent from the prevailing west winds by higher areas on the west side of Manhattan. Hence, air pollution produced within Harlem—for example, by cars, diesel trucks, and buses, and by an electric power generating plant located there—tends to remain longer than in other areas of the city. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection operated a network of air monitoring stations from the 1940s to the 1970s, during which time Harlem was consistently found to be the most polluted area in the city. It had then, and still has, one of the highest rates of hospitalization for asthma in the city. In most countries, asthma is more common among children of higher social class. In the United States this pattern is reversed: people living in the inner cities of the United States, mostly low-income minorities, have higher rates of asthma than other Americans.
