Traffic safety may be ensured by normal operation of all elements of the system, including the driver, a motor vehicle and transportation medium. Insufficient safety of some particular elements of this system (the lack of discipline of the participants of traffic, poor technical state of a motor vehicle or road, etc.) are the main causes of traffic accidents. Statistical data on traffic accidents in 2000–2009 in Lithuania is presented. Collisions of motor vehicles in 2009 make one of the largest proportion of all traffic accidents ‐ 33.4%. Motor vehicle crashes can lead to traumatic experiences. High-impact collisions usually cause severe injuries or fatalities. A collision warning system that analyzes driving behaviors and warns drivers of impending crashes can prevent road collisions and save lives, so increasing traffic safety. An application of the Naïve Bayes classifier model to determine the potential for rear-end collisions between highway vehicles is presented. The increasingly tougher international regulations force motor vehicle designers and manufacturers to find complex solutions that should increase the protection of motor vehicle occupants. In this paper the author carries out an analysis on the energy absorption by a front strut-type structure of a motor vehicle involved in head-on collision with a rigid barrier inclined at various angles. Small overlap collisions open new challenges for car manufacturers with a view to developing structures able to absorb the impact and provide safety to the motor vehicle occupants.

Although a review of previous research shows that the literature is extensive on the impact of speed on traffic safety, the majority of previous researches mainly focused on rural roads while rarely on urban roads. It is crucial that the relationship between speed and road collisions should be investigated in urban areas because of the fact that a high ratio of collisions is occurred on urban roads. Frontal motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) resulted in 10,813 fatalities and 937,000 injuries in 2014, which is more than any other type of MVC. In order to mitigate the injuries and fatalities resulting from MVCs, new safety restraint technologies and more biofidelic anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs) have been developed. However, the biofidelity of these new ATDs must be evaluated, and the mechanisms of injury must be understood in order to accurately predict injury. Evaluating the biomechanical response, injury mechanisms, and injury threshold of the thorax are particularly important because

These injuries often result from incidents such as motor vehicle collisions, falls, or penetrating wounds, leading to complications like aortic injury, cardiac trauma, or pulmonary contusions. Timely recognition and effective management are crucial for improving patient outcomes in these cases.
