We aimed to identify sub-groups of motor vehicle collisions in Victoria, Australia, and the association between collision characteristics and outcomes up to 24 months post-injury. Data were extracted from the Victorian State Trauma Registry for injured drivers aged ≥16 years, from 2010 to 2016, with a compensation claim who survived ≥12 months post-injury. People with intentional or severe head injury were excluded, resulting in 2735 cases. Latent class analysis was used to identify collision classes for driver fault and blood alcohol co

Data were gathered from three provincial sources: administrative data from the Alberta Ministry of Health and Wellness, records from the Alberta Trauma Registry, and death certificates from the Office of the Medical Examiner. Results:From all three data sources, 450 cases of SCI were identified. Of these, 71 (15.8%) died prior to hospitalization. The annual incidence rate

In most low- and middle-income countries, trauma registries are uncommon. Although institutional registries for all trauma patients are ideal, it can be more practical to institute departmental registries for specific subsets of patients. We describe methods and experiences for data collection and examine patient and injury characteristics, data quality, and the utility of the registry. ObjectivesSafety restraints reduce injuries from motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) but are often improperly applied or not used. The Childhood Opportunity Index (COI) reflects social determinants of health and its study in pediatric trauma is limited. We hypothesized that MVC patients from low-opportunity neighborhoods are less likely to be appropriately restrained.MethodsA retrospective cross-sectional study was performed on children/adolescents ≤18 years old in MVCs between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2021. Patients were identified from the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles trauma registry.

An adaptive control system is an advanced method for controlling the speed of a moving motorized vehicle. Using this intelligent control system, the driver can easily control the speed of the car according to his wishes or the prevailing situation. The adaptive control system consists of a sensor attached to a moving vehicle which then registers the speed of the car and provides input to the processing unit. The controller is designed according to the force exerted by the car to drive a certain distance in a certain time. This time, the control uses a PID controller. This method is followed fo

We randomly selected 83 274 control births from women in the BN matched on age, gestational age and crash date. All study subjects were linked to medical claims and the Death Registry to identify the maternal outcomes after crashes.
