Abstract:
AbstractThis study sought to assess rural people‘s level of satisfaction with motorcycle taxi transport services, taking Rongo Sub-County, Kenya as a typical case. This awareness is crucial to transport planning, particularly in the pursuit of an equitable mobility system in rural Kenya, Africa and beyond. The main data collection tool was a semi-structured questionnaire which was complemented by a key informant interview schedule, focus group discussions guide and an observation checklist. The study found that while the satisfaction of the respondents ranged from neutral to satisfied there was a strong difference between groups. Most of the respondents were satisfied with the MT services, largely due to the physical attributes of the MT. Negative reasons were mainly related to MT riders‘ mannerism, unprofessional driving, and poor safety. Nonetheless, almost all respondents recognised the importance of motorcycle taxi transport in realising their needs of accessing locations and activities within and outside Rongo Sub-County. This paper strongly recommends that rural transport needs and options should be understood from the point of view of rural people (differentiated by age, gender, occupation and income) in order to provide better rural transport services that meet different needs.

Abstract:
The online motorcycle taxi application (ojol) has become one of the most widely used applications by the people of Indonesia. However, since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Indonesia, including Makassar, something has been "missing" from the applications, such as Gojek and Grab. At Gojek there is no longer a motorbike ordering menu (Goride); while in Grab, the GrabBike menu also disappeared. The menu disappeared as a result of government policies through the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in order to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19. In order to continue to work in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, ojol drivers use various strategies. This article focuses on how the strategy of ojol drivers to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic. Using qualitative approach, this study was carried out in Makassar as a metropolitan city, as one of the cities where ojol transportation drivers operate, as well as the city with the highest number of Covid-19 cases. There are fifteen informants who participated in this study, consisting of eight Gojek drivers and the rest were Grab drivers. Data was collected using the combination of observation and in-depth interview techniques. The study shows that the income of ojol drivers has decreased drastically since the Covid-19 outbreak, as the consequence of government policies through the PSBB which limited people’s mobility, including ojol drivers. In order to survive, ojol drivers use various strategies, such as living in a state of frugality, taking additional work (such as selling food in offline system, being a construction worker, opening a small tavern, etc.). When conditions gradually improve and the PSBB policy is relaxed, they can again work with the application of general health protocols (3M: wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance) and the application of specific health protocols is also enforced (such as the use of plastic insulators for taxi drivers or passengers carrying their own helmets for motorcycle taxis), so that they can continue to work to make a living in the middle of pandemic Covid-19, even though the income is not yet fully recovered.

Abstract:
The existence of online mode of transportation has attracted consumers’ attention, and therefore many switch from the use of conventional to online mode of transportation. The switch has become a trigger of conflict between drivers of conventional transportation, such as city transportation (angkot), taxi, motorbike (bentor), rickshaw (ojek pangkalan), and drivers of online transportation, such as Grab and Go-Jek. This artikel is focused on the existence and the conflict between these two mode of transportations in Kota Makassar. It was found that online transportation has become an alternative of transportation for society for a number of reasons: practicality, transparency, trustworthiness, security, insurance, features, discount and promotion rates, as well as new employment/part-time opportunities. The existence of online-based transportation has caused a conflict between the two. In one side, online transportation is considered to facilitate drivers and their passangers. On the other side, online transportation got criticised from drivers of conventional transportation due to the fact that the latter is being marginalised by the former. Conflict between the two is commonly base on operating lisence, colour of vehicle plate that significantly impacted on payment of taxes, passangers’ recruitment base, and competitive online transportation rates. The rate has becomeone of the advantages of online transportation as well as one of the source of conflicts between conventional and online transportation.

Abstract:
Abstract The impacts of work characteristics on travel mode choice behavior has been studied for a long time, focusing on the work type, income, duration, and working time. However, there are no comprehensive studies on the influence of travel behavior. Therefore, this study examines the influence of work environment as a mediator of socio-economic variables, trip characteristics, transportation infrastructure and services, the environment and choice of transportation mode on work trips. The mode of transportation consists of three variables, including public transportation (bus rapid transit and mass rapid transit), private vehicles (cars and motorbikes), and online transportation (online taxis and motorbike taxis online). Multivariate analysis using the partial least squares-structural equation modeling method was used to explain the relationship between variables in the model. According to the results, the mediating impact of work environment is significant on transportation choices only for environmental variables. The mediating mode choice effect is negative for public transportation and complimentary for private vehicles and online transportation. Other variables directly affect mode choice, including the influence of work environment.

Abstract:
It is known that in addition to biking and walking, many students who prefer to be taken by parents or use an online motorcycle taxi to go to school. Generally, going to school using a bicycle is an alternative means of transportation that is preferred, but because of the lack of parking lots of students who ultimately prefer to be picked up and dropped off. In addition, parenting parents who are too protective of children to require children to be picked up when going to school also indirectly have an unfavorable impact on the child's level of fitness and independence. Whereas for elementary school children, the level of fitness and independence are things that must be developed for their future survival. Children must understand the importance of physical activity and implement it in their lives. For example, children who go to school, they must be more able to think about how to move their body to get to school rather than just relying on the transfer of parents. By walking to school, will increase physical activity of children. Therefore, researchers are then interested in conducting further research. The results of this study are that there are significant differences in the fitness variable of transportation used with a significance level of 0,000 and an F value of 21,914 with a mean difference of 73,393. Walking is the most dominant factor to improve fitness compared to cycling and parents take a motorbike ride to and from school. As for the independence variable there is no significant difference in the mode of transportation used with a significance value of 0.414 with an F value of 0.890. The conclusion of the research is the use of modes of transportation to the right school can increase children's fitness. Walking is the best transportation to improve fitness then followed by cycling and parents take a ride on a motorcycle. However, to increase a significant independence, it is still not possible to use transportation mode selection because parental care is the determining factor for children's independence other than the education system in schools and the surrounding environment.

Raffia rope is very popular because of its many uses, in other words it is a versatile tool. In general, raffia ropes are widely used for various matters such as business in agriculture, as a binder, as a decoration for crafts, as hangers for clothes, sewing sacks, as reinforcement materials, and many others. Raffia straps are available in the form of rolls. At this time, there are still many processes of rolling raffia still using manual methods such as direct hand rolling or using traditional methods that still use a lot of human power so that it is considered ineffective and inefficient. Because there is still a lot of traditional process of rolling the rope or using hands, the idea arises to make a raffia rope rolling machine using a motorbike and transmission. Technically appropriate technology is a bridge between traditional technology and advanced technology, therefore socio-cultural and economic aspects are also dimensions that must be taken into account in managing appropriate technology. From the desired goals, appropriate technology must apply methods that are resource-efficient, easy to maintain, and have minimal minimalistic impact. The aim of this research is to design, make and test rapia rope rollers so that they are suitable to be used to help facilitate the work of the community in the process of rolling rapia. Augmented reality technology has been widely developed and implemented in an Android-based smartphone application. This technology can be used for entertainment and education. Unfortunately, the use of education is still rare. This paper proposes an android application to introduce the types of land transportation based on augmented reality technology which is visualized in 3-dimensional (3D) form for education as well as entertainment. There are seven land transportation modes that are presented range from two wheels to four wheels, i.e. cars, ambulances, buses, motorbikes, taxis, trucks, and bicycles. Alpha testing has been carried out and shows the results that the application runs well following the expected function. This application can be delivered to the public, especially for the online learning of children in a pandemic situation. In addition, it helps parents to introduce several land transportation modes. With a 3D view, the introduction of types of land transportation is more interactive and realistic. Keywords: android, application, augmented reality, transportation
