Abstract:
Chip mounters are the important equipment on Surface Mounting Technology (SMT) production line, and with continuous improvement of the requirement on the mounting speed and mounting accuracy of micro-electronic components, high-speed and high-precision chip mounters have become important goals pursued by many companies and manufacturers of SMT equipment. As there is great difference in the shape, size, shape and number of pins of the components to be mounted by chip mounters, higher technical requirements on the mounting components identification and visual system must be put forward. The traditional mounter vision system controls and handles the light source system and the image acquisition system by personal computer (PC). However, in the practical application, the visual system has disadvantages such as large volume and high cost, which will lead to the shortcomings of bulky volume of the production equipment, inconvenient assembling, expensive price, difficult upgrading, etc. In this paper, to overcome these deficiencies of mounter vision system, based on the advantages of embedded system such as small size, fast response, reliable operation and relatively low prices, etc., the application of Advanced RISC Machines (ARM) embedded system in SMT machine vision system is researched, and the whole system and the module design is done with the modular design thought, which is conductive to the development and later maintenance, updating, and upgrade of the system.

Abstract:
With the widespread use of the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) in electronics assembly, the efficiency of SMT production line is the most important to increase the number of products quickly, enhance the market share and competitive strength. And the key point of efficiency improvement for SMT production line is the reasonable component distribution in chip mounter. In this paper, for a widely used SMT production line, its mathematical model of component distribution for two chip mounters was established. By identifying the model constrains and processing of the mathematical model, then the mathematical model was solved through Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based on natural selection with MATLAB. By contrast with the MATLAB function-bintprog solving, the results by PSO based on natural selection needs less iteration and short time, and the optimal component distribution program was efficiently obtained.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to test if stress on the prosthetic connection during insertion maneuvers can induce micro-warping at the implant connection. From September 2011 to July 2013, patients with implants loaded for at least 5 years that were placed with 2 different insertion implant mounters—MP (conventional) and ME (mountless)—were selected from all of those who had received dental implant therapy in the past and were attending routine check-up or spontaneous visits during the study period. Samples were obtained from inside the connection and the abutment surface using absorbent sterile paper tips. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed for total bacterial counts and loads of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa), Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Tannerella forsythensis (Tf), Treponema denticola (Td), Prevotella intermedia (Pi), Peptostreptococcus micros (Pm), Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), Campylobacter rectus (Cr), Eikenella corrodens (Ec), and Candida albicans (Ca). The analysis of variance test was used to test for differences. Nine patients (20 implants) were included in the MP group and 5 patients (10 implants) in the ME group. Regarding the red complex, Tf was seen in 80% and 30% of MP and ME implants, respectively (P < .001). Significant differences were also found in microbial load. For Td, proportions were 45% vs 10% (P = .022), with no significant differences at load levels. Regarding the orange complex, higher prevalence values were found in MP implants, although differences were nonsignificant. Microbial load levels for orange complex bacteria were higher for MP than ME, and these differences were statistically significant for Fn (4.94 vs 3.09; P = .001). Finally, Ec was detected only in the MP group, and Ca and Aa were not found in either group. Within its limitation (small sample size, retrospective analysis, indirect measurement method), the present study suggests that a mounter not affecting the prosthetic connection should be used to reduce microbial contamination of implants.

AbstractAmongst Temminck's red colobus living in the Abuko Nature Reserve, The Gambia, the mechanism for avoiding close inbreeding may depend on the form of inbreeding. Mother-son inbreeding may be avoided through learned behaviour and possibly secondary transfer by the mother. Father-daughter inbreeding may be limited due to transfer and demographic patterns but also aggression directed at the male from the mountee's mother. Maternal brother-sister inbreeding may be avoided through female transfer patterns. Presummed paternal brothersister inbreeding is infrequent but does occur and is not discouraged or avoided.

Abstract:
Abstract1. Up to 50% of weaned northern elephant seal pups, Mirounga angustirostris, present on the Año Nuevo mainland rookery at the end of the breeding season showed evidence (tooth marks and injuries on the neck) of having been mounted by males. 2. Male-inflicted injuries on weanlings ranged from superficial tooth marks to deep gashes and punctures that bled and exposed the blubber. Most marks were superficial. 3. Approximately 0.5 % of all weaned pups died on the rookery from 1969-1990; about 35 % of the dead weanlings showed physical evidence that they were killed by males and males were suspected of having killed most of the rest. 4. Males mounting weanlings displayed many behaviors that are characteristic of male sexual behavior toward adult females and most weanlings responded like non-estrous females. Weanling mounts lasted an average of 2.8 min (N = 81) and were usually terminated when the male did not pursue an escaping weanling. There was no bias in the sex or the size of mounted weanlings. 5. Males also mounted conspecific juveniles (one and two years old), although these interactions were relatively infrequent because most juveniles were at sea during the breeding season. The behavior of males and juveniles during mounting attempts was qualitatively similar to weanling mounts; rarely, yearlings were killed by males. 6. Most mounters (91 %) were subadult males and were observed to mount weanlings only once in a breeding season. Occasionally, a male persisted in mounting weanlings repeatedly, within a season and across years. Weanling mounters did not differ from other males in their proximity to harems or in their copulatory success. 7. The proximate factors leading to weanling mounts appear to be male sexual inexperience, high libido, limited access to adult females, and stimulus generalization. Functionally, male sexual behavior toward weanlings appears to be a low-cost by-product of high male sexual motivation that may enhance a male's reproductive success. Weanlings exhibit behaviors, such as grouping into pods, seeking microhabitat refuges, and resisting mounts, that may reduce the chance of being mounted by a male or of being injured during a mounting attempt.

Abstract:
As demand for complex precision parts increase, the existing fabrication methods such as MEMS, and LIGA technology have technical limitations with regard to high precision, high aspect ratio, and high complexity. A microstereolithography technology based on DMDTM(Digital Micromirror Device) can meet these demands. DMD enables a system to handle dynamic patterns. In this technology, the same standard format of the conventional rapid prototyping system, the STL file, is used, and 3D parts are fabricated by stacking layers that are sliced as 2D section from STL file. Whereas in conventional methods, the resin surface is cured by scanning laser beam spot according to the section shape, but in this research, we used an integral process which enabled the resin surface to be cured by one irradiation. In this paper, we dealt with the dynamic pattern generation and DMD operation to fabricate microstructures. Firstly, the microstereolithography apparatus and process were discussed. Secondly, the DMD operation according to mirror tilting, and optimal mounters for DMD and reflecting mirror according to light path were described. And thirdly, complex 3D microstructures were demonstrated.

Abstract:
Feed drive systems consisting of servo motors and ball screws are generally used with NC machine tools, wire bonders, tip mounters, etc. Higher speed and accuracy are continuously required to the feed drive systems. In order to achieve higher performance of the systems, it is effective to analyze the dynamic behaviors using simulations. This study proposes a feed drive simulator consists of parameter identification and simulation modules. The parameter identification module consists of 3 sub-modules; identification system for friction forces, identification system for frequency response, and identification system for electric delay. The identification algorithms for unknown parameters are newly proposed. The simulation module is based on a mathematical model which consists of mass, inertias, stiffness, damping, frictions, servo gains, electrical delay, and control frequency. The simulation module also has a servo tuning function. The simulator, which includes a Graphical User Interface (GUI) was developed using Visual C++. Actual feed drive systems were used to confirm the effectiveness of the simulator. It was confirmed that the simulator identifies parameters systematically, simulates physical values for different motions, and automatically determines servo gains based on the parameters identified.

Abstract:
A positioning system has been developed that places dies quickly and with high accuracy on a rigid substrate. The increased accuracy makes it possible to stack dies, or use dies with an ultra fine pitch, while not sacrificing speed. A single camera system determines the position of the die on the bondhead, as well as the position of the substrate. As a result, the effect of thermal drift is minimized. In order to decrease the cycle time, the camera system is mounted on the bondhead, so that the die position can be measured while moving. This concept has been successfully integrated and tested on an existing component mounter machine. The resulting accuracy has been increased from 10 to 3 μm (3σ), while the placement cycle time can be reduced by 20 %.

Abstract:
The NorthEastern Collaborative Access Team (NE-CAT) focuses on the design and operation of synchrotron X-ray beamlines for the solution of technically challenging structural biology problems and provides an important resource for the national and international research community. Currently NE-CAT operates two undulator beamlines: 24ID-C - tunable in the energy range from 6 to 22keV and 24ID-E - not-tunable, but optimized for Se SAD experiments. Both beamlines are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. MD2 microdiffractometers installed at both beamlines provide very clean beams down to 5 microns in diameter and are capable of visualizing micron-sized crystals. Large area detectors (ADSC Quantum 315 at 24ID-E beamline and Pilatus-6MF at 24ID-C beamline), not only provide the best diffraction data, but also make possible to resolve large unit cells. Both beamlines are equipped with ALS style automatic sample mounters. Locally developed software suite RAPD provides data collection strategies, quasi-real time data integration and scaling and simple automated MR/SAD pipeline through 384 core computing cluster. Users of the beamlines are supported by experienced resident crystallographers. To meet the needs of technically challenging crystallographic projects, cutting-edge hardware and software ideas are implemented. A summary of beamline capabilities, technology, scientific highlights and details of availability will be presented. Funding for NE-CAT is provided through P41 grant from the NIGMS and from the NE-CAT member institutions.

Considering features of PCB marks and components image, in order to search a consistent location for reference images in multidimensional parameter space, the algorithm of geometric characteristic recognition location is proposed. Geometric location algorithm mainly include model training and real-time search. Compared to edge location and traditional localization methods, which not only adapt the gray-scale linearity and the gray non-linear changes, but also support changes in scale and perspective. Numerical results shows that the position deviation of geometric positioning algorithm is less than 0.5 pixel, the angle deviation is less than 0.5 degree. This algorithm is robust, simple, practical and it is better than the traditional location method.

Abstract:
The surface mounting of electronic component is the major manufacturing technology for the electronic products in the last decade. The surface mounting technology (SMT) is an assembly process that assembles the surface mountable component (SMC) and the printed circuit board (PCB) together. The SMT mounter is an automatic assembly machine that processes the SMT assemblies in terms of the optical positioning and robotic handling. The SMT assembly consists of calibrating printed circuit board (PCB); vacuuming components form feeder stations; compensating the orientation of the vacuumed surface mountable component (SMC); and finally placing SMC chips on the PCB. In order to increase the throughput, the synchronous batch vacuuming of SMC components is designed. In addition, different types of component feeding and mixing in each batch increase the difficulties of finding the best component mounting sequence. In this paper, the optimal component placement scheduler is desired to perform higher assembly performance and to reduce the cycle time. The proposed optimal component placement scheduler is developed based on the rule based heuristic search approach. In addition, to evaluate the cycle time of each heuristic search, the route oriented Petri nets (ROPN) based SMT assembly models are constructed. The optimal component placement scheduler can be further determined in terms of evaluating the ROPN SMT assembly models. Finally, the practical test PCB board data is discussed in this paper.

Abstract:
Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd., founded in the city of Tomi, Nagano Prefecture in 1975 and listed on the JASDAQ Stock Exchange in 2007, is an up-and-coming company. At first, the company developed and manufactured the special order item like the electrical equipment unit, the chip mounter, and the automatic transfer line system, etc., which were the “Engineering” still remaining in the name of the company. The Company’s first ever original product was a pen plotter which made the best use of the servo technologies cultivated in earlier experiences in producing custom-made products. This then led to the development of cutting plotters that utilize cutters instead of pens. Knowledge gained on the needs and characteristics of the Company’s mainstay market seems to have opened the door to the later commercial success of the company. The product that has most influenced the direction of the company has been the large-size ink jet printer put on the market in 1996. The company, in order to meet the needs of sign graphics (the company’s mainstay market), has added new inks and technologies for large-sized printing to the fundamental ink jet technologies introduced by Epson, and in so doing has grown into a leading company in the field. Moreover, the Company has steadily prepared to advance into the field of industrial products with printing and cutting technologies applied to plastic plates, etc. and also into the textile and apparel field, in which printing is done on fabric. These technologies all provide main stay products for digital on-demand production, an innovative production method.

Abstract:
AbstractGenerally, nonreproductive sex is thought to act as “social grease,” facilitating peaceful coexistence between subjects that lack close genetic ties. However, specifc nonreproductive sexual behaviors may fulfill different functions. With this study, we aimed to test whether nonreproductive mounts in Barbary macaques are used to 1) assert dominance, 2) reinforce social relationships, and/or 3) solve conflicts. We analyzed nonreproductive mounts (N = 236) and postmount behavior in both aggressive and nonaggressive contexts, in 118 individuals belonging to two semi-free-ranging groups at La Montagne des Singes (France). As predicted by the dominance assertion hypothesis, the probability to be the mounter increased with rank difference, especially in aggressive contexts (increasing from 0.066 to 0.797 in nonaggressive contexts, and from 0.011 to 0.969 in aggressive contexts, when the rank difference was minimal vs. maximal). The strength of the social bond did not significantly predict the proportion of mounts across dyads in nonaggressive contexts, providing no support for the relationship reinforcement hypothesis. Finally, in support of the conflict resolution hypothesis, when individuals engaged in postconflict mounts, 1) the probability of being involved in further aggression decreased from 0.825 to 0.517, while 2) the probability of being involved in grooming interactions with each other increased from 0.119 to 0.606. The strength of the social bond between former opponents had no significant effect on grooming occurrence and agonistic behavior after postconflict mounts. Overall, our findings suggest that nonreproductive mounts in Barbary macaques have different functions that are not affected by the strength of the social bond.

Abstract:
This paper presents the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) observations conducted for the project "Heritage preservation and ethnobotany. Analysis of the influence of conservation treatment on genetic material comprised in historic herbaria“ (project no. 2014/13/N/HS2/03118) funded by the National Science Centre in Poland. The main aim of the project is to establish if treatment methods used by herbarium conservators and mounters in different countries are harmful for the DNA material comprised in herbarium specimens. In order to analyse this problem the author conducted an international survey among specialists with documented experience in herbarium treatment. The next step was the evaluation of the results and the choice of materials. The chosen materials were then applied to samples of herbarium specimens, artificially aged in the climatic chamber, and subjected to DNA analysis. The results of the survey illustrated the variety of the materials used to treat and mount specimens. Some of them, such as methyl cellulose, were used in different concentrations and different degrees of polymerization. The project limitations determined the selection of materials for further testing, particularly when it comes to the concentration of a particular adhesive/consolidant. At the same time the main assumption was to identify versions of the material that can effectively penetrate the specimen in order to intensify the potential influence on its DNA. Dessicated plant specimens are not a common material in conservation research because their structure is highly heterogenic, fragile and brittle. Moreover, the materials used for mounting and conservation treatment are most often adapted from bookbinding and paper conservation disciplines. They are not always suitable for the treatment of botanic material and may cause damage. When observations of stratigraphic samples under a traditional microscope proved unsatisfactory, the potential of SEM imaging was examined. SEM turned out to be a very useful tool to observe the effects of simulated conservation treatments conducted on herbarium specimen samples, but only when samples were coated with gold. The conclusions from these observations informed decisions about what versions of the conservation and mounting materials should be used for further testing. Additionally, some samples were observed after artificial aging in aclimatic chamber. It enabled us to observe the degradation of the layers of materials applied onto the specimens. The analysis focussed on the leaves of two species, Fragaria vesca (wild strawberry) and Arabidopsis thaliana (thale cress).

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to study the influence of reflow atmosphere and placement accuracy on the solderability of 01005 capacitor/SAC305 solder joints. Design/methodology/approach The 01005 capacitors were mounted on OSP-coated pads, and the samples were fabricated in four different atmospheres, i.e. 200 ppm O2/N2, 1,000 ppm O2/N2, 3,000 ppm O2/N2 and air. After the reflow process, visual inspection and X-ray detection were carried out to examine the solder joint shapes and possible defects. Some of the samples fabricated in different conditions were cross-sectioned and the solder joint microstructures were analyzed. On the other hand, besides placing the components on their normal pad positions, a 50 per cent offset of the x-axis (long axis) or y-axis (short axis) was introduced into the chip mounter programs to evaluate the 01005 capacitor’s assembly sensitivity to placement accuracy. The process-induced defects were investigated. Findings Experimental results indicated that an N2-based protective atmosphere was necessary for 01005 type assembly, as it could obviously improve the 01005 solder joint quality, compared with the air condition. The protective atmosphere had little effect on the appearance, quality and microstructure of solder joints when the oxygen concentration was below 3,000 ppm. But a very low oxygen concentration could increase the risk of tombstoning defects for the assembly process. The N2-based protective atmosphere containing 1,000-2000 ppm O2 was acceptable and appropriate for the assembly of tiny components. Originality/value The results of this work provide a set of reflow process parameters and recommendations for 01005 size component assembly in manufacturing.
