Abstract In visible light communication (VLC), light emitting diodes (LEDs) are used as transmitters; the air is the transmission medium and the photodiodes are used for receivers. This is often referred to as light fidelity (Li-Fi). In this thesis, we provide the methodology to evaluate the performance of VLC hotspot networks in the context of data downloading on the move scenarios by using throughput-distance relationship models. In this context, first we study the different properties of optical transceiver elements, noise sources, characterization and modelling of artificial light interfer

Move ordering is important to alpha-beta tree search efficiency since a well-ordered minimax game tree precipitates more cutoffs than a randomly ordered tree. The use of move ordering heuristics is shown to be a valuable addition to the alpha-beta algorithm. Eight different move ordering heuristics are described and implemented on a skeleton chess program. The relative gains in search performance are observed for each individual heuristic as well as for combinations of heuristics. It is shown that when searching minimax game trees to a depth of 6 to 9 plies with well-chosen "killer" heuristics

Abstract:
A vector mode analysis of dispersion-shifted-mode triangular-index fibers with a trench is presented. The aspects considered are the total dispersion, splice losses and bending loss of such fibers as a function of the trench width and location, wavelength fluctuations, index difference, as well as core radius change. The presence of a trench has pronounced effects on the performance of these fibers, yielding combined advantages of dispersion-shifted and dispersion-flattened fibers, and also improves the splice loss and bending loss characteristics. Some fiber characteristics due to the presenc

Internationalization within the information communication technology (ICT) sector has become more essential today and this has raised the international competition over customers. The Nordic markets growth and development in its ICT sector has brought new competition and has been the substance of change in business concerning, organizational changes, reduce transaction costs and rationalize and restrict supply chains. The purpose of this thesis is therefore to compare the Nordic ICT markets and the potential for small IT firm namely, Radar Group International AB. To be able to understand Rada

Comparative approaches are fundamental to analyzing genomic sequence data, and therefore touch almost all aspects of bioinformatics research. The core tasks of sequence alignment, phylogenetic inference, and ancestral sequence reconstruction must be performed as accurately as possible in order for their results to be useful. Due to the difficult combinatorial nature of these problems, as well as the necessary assumptions made by the models upon which they are based, even the best methods to solve them will make errors. These errors will impact and potentially bias any downstream analysis perfo

We focus on the immediate NAK mode, as specified in [1], under the assumption that PDU error events of forward and backward channels are statistically independent. We point out the problem of duplicated retransmissions due to the long propagation delay and analyze throughput efficiency. We also present modeling and analysis of th
