Full textThis study examines the creation of the business idea called Easy Move. This business idea is going to take advantage of the real estate boom that is present in Peru, adapting the needs of the market to the service. The concept of this service is to connect an independent carrier with a customer interested in moving services. By means of hypothesis and concierge, the possible scenarios of this business are examined, and the business idea is shaped according to the needs of the clients. The data analysed showed that there are different types of needs in people who want to move. Different types of clients are identified, the people who plan their move, the people who do not plan their move, and need to move immediately and the independent carriers that need clients interested in their services. In addition, the analysed data reflects that if the problem of a potential client is solved, they will feel satisfied and will require the service.

Johansson, Jennie, and Leni Andersson. "To move or not to move : Factors affecting the career mobility of engineers." Thesis, Jönköping University, JIBS, EMM (Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Management), 2007. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hj:diva-753.
Full textBackground: The most important resource of today’s companies is human resources. This has lead to a vast literature in the field of Human Resource Management, and within that are the fields of motivation and career management. Given the importance of technology intensive companies’ and the fact that engineers are increasingly dissatisfied and recognized as being difficult to manage a part of the literature have focused upon management of engineers. In this it is widely ac-cepted that engineers need special treatment, however, literature is not complete and a part which, up until now, has gained little attention is the one concerning career mobility.
Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to identify the inducements and obstacles to the career mobility of engineers.
Frame of Reference: The first part of the theoretical framework covers motivation, in which the authors focus on McClelland’s Content Theory of Motivation, given its close connection to need for achievement, a central aspect in career mobility. The second part deals with previous research on management of engineers. Based on the Frame of Reference the authors construct the Career Mobility Model, which serve as a foundation for subsequent structure and interpretation.
Method: In order to fulfill the purpose of the thesis the authors chose a qualitative research method, and conducted twelve semis structured interviews. The results were then analyzed in the light of the theoretical framework.
Empirical Findings: The empirical findings consist of interviews with engineers of different ages, employment time and stages of their career. The interview results are organized based on the theoretical framework to aid forthcoming interpretation.
Analysis: In the analysis the authors apply the empirical findings on the Career Mobility Model, thus interpret the different obstacles and inducements to career mobility. The authors’ interpretations reveal a clear excess of obstacles compared to inducements at the company participating in the study.
Conclusions: By creating a challenging work situation and offering continuous education companies can create a good foundation for career mobility. However, without a uniform career management program combined with visible career routes and established communication channels a company will lack critical aspects of in-ducements to career mobility. Moreover, technical companies need to remember that the best specialist may not always be the best manager, given the many ob-stacles a specialist focused manager can induce.

Full textSEW-Eurodrive (SEW) is a company that manufactures and sells products in the field of electric motors, exercise electric motors, gearboxes, decentralized electronics, motion control, frequency converters and servo systems. SEW-Eurodrive currently has a number of different demo equipment to show different product features for customers at industrial fairs. In year 2017, SEW launched its new product family, MOVI-C, in driving electronics. Because of this, a new, complete MOVI-C demo device has been developed in this project to show the features of the product family for customers at industry fairs. Before the project started the engineering department at SEW had already decided how the new demo device would demonstrate the new product family's functions. The project started with the development of a requirement specification for the demo unit. Among the requirements were that the demo unit would fit in a transport solution and clearly show what is being demonstrated. Based on this requirement specification, a concept generation was made. To find as many conceptions as possible, the main problem was broken down into sub-problems, in which multiple sub-solutions attempted to resolve. The sub-solutions were first evaluated individually to eliminate inappropriate sub-solutions. In consultation with the engineering department at SEW, some overall concepts were selected for the continued selection process through a weighted selection matrix. The weighted selection matrix rated the different concepts in a variety of criteria, and through this a whole concept has been chosen. A 3D model was created by the selected overall concept and simpler strength calculations, center of gravity calculations and design calculations were made. Manufacturing documentation in the form of drawings and order lists have been produced. Possible further developments of the resulting overall concept are stiffening angles that would make the structure more stable, as well as investigate the solutions for transport wheels more.

McLeod, Christine. "Changing places resilience in children who move /." University of Sydney, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/2123/1844.
Full textFigures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that over 40% of all Australian children moved at least one time in the census period from 1996 to 2001 (ABS, 2001). The literature varies in the impact that this has on children. The purpose of this study was to examine the associations between residential relocation, resilience and the emotional, behavioural and academic adjustment of children 8-12 years of age who had moved. Risk factors as identified in the literature as well as the relative impact of resilience were examined. By studying how adjustment occurs in the context of resilience, possible areas for prevention and intervention may be developed for the large numbers of children who move. Results showed that the sample population was in the normal range in academic and behavioural terms. The sample was found to have repeated more grades than average; however the children did not exhibit significant behavioural or emotional consequences. A number of demographic factors have been indicated in the literature as affecting adjustment after residential relocations, yet these were generally not found to be significantly associated with adjustment for this study population. Socioeconomic status was the only factor other than resilience to have been significantly associated with adjustment. Possibly due to the developmental stage of the participants, only the resilience subscales of interpersonal strength and school functioning were found to be significant in their positive association with adjustment, leading to fewer behavioural and academic problems. While the children in this study have all had the potential stress of moving house, the demographic characteristics of this sample would suggest that they might not have had to encounter multiple life challenges or adversities. This conclusion may help explain the lack of significant effects of demographic factors on the adjustment of the children in this sample. Results highlight the importance of good schooling and that the core business of schools in building and enhancing the intellectual functioning of children, is a vital component in the development of resilience. These findings suggest that different aspects of resilience may be important for different developmental stages and different life stressors. The distinction between cause and effect when examining resilience factors is discussed and it is suggested that outcomes in one context may be treated as influences upon outcomes in another context.

Heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes are the leading causes of death in the United States. In addition, the prevalence of obesity has significantly increased since the 1970s. In Kansas, 37% of adults are overweight and 24% are obese. These chronic diseases and conditions tend to be prevented by and/or managed with both adequate physical activity and a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. In Kansas 48.5% of adults meet the current recommendations for physical activity set by the American Heart Association, while 20% of adults consume the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables. Public health officials need to work together to encourage Kansas adults to increase their participation in physical activity and consumption of fruits and vegetables to help prevent future health problems or manage current chronic diseases. To help address these health issues in Kansas, Kansas State University Research and Extension developed the 8-week Kansans Move into Health nutrition and physical activity program, building its framework around the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Using TPB, participants address attitudes and perceived norms as well as perform specific behaviors associated with healthy eating and physical activity. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of condensing the 8-week nutrition and physical activity program into four one-hour classes using a pre- and post-survey. Nineteen participants from the Johnson County community signed up to participate with 63% (n=12) completing the program. Results indicated that participants changed their belief that nutritious foods are more expensive (p≤0.05). Furthermore, participants gained knowledge in how to prepare healthy snacks that are quick and easy. All other measures did not change (n=19; p>0.05). Future research evaluating longer program interventions could better assess attitudes and perceived norms associated with healthy behaviors and determine whether the increase in knowledge leads to behavior change.
Cody, Scott M. "If you move their hearts, you can move their minds| California high school principals' leadership focus on adolescent well-being." Thesis, University of Pennsylvania, 2017. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=10242084.
Full textIn discussing his approach to school leadership, a successful high school principal in Los Angeles told me, “If you move their hearts, you can move their minds.” This line speaks to the crucial but often unacknowledged importance of addressing adolescent well-being as a foundational component to school leadership. My qualitative research utilizes case studies of four high schools in California to answer the following questions: What do successful urban high school leaders experience as they focus on adolescent health and well-being? How do they identify the nature of student need and attempt to address it? What perspectives do they hold on structures, programs, and practices that value student health and well-being?
This study seeks to understand how principals consider the health and well-being of their students as core elements of their leadership practice even as they negotiate dwindling school budgets for health services and balance multiple pressures and priorities. In considering this relationship, I argue that leaders must think about how they are creating environments that value students’ health as necessary preconditions for their academic achievement. My analysis uncovers how principals perceive opportunities to support or enact programs, services, and staff that address student well-being in ways that correspond to their broader vision of instructional leadership.
Major findings from my work indicate that these principals from low-income and high-minority schools utilize Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, either explicitly or implicitly, to support student development. By focusing on building relationships as a core value in their work, they are able to recognize the specific needs of students as both adolescents and learners. In doing so, they create systems and structures that support students to find their voices, both as individuals and as members of a collective school community. At the same time, these school leaders also support their teachers in creating curriculum and classroom culture that appreciates both the academic and non-cognitive components of learning, often with the support of community partnerships.
While mainstream educational discourse leaves little room for school principals to focus on the holistic approach of understanding the students on their campuses, I argue that these leaders must consider their students’ layered hierarchy of needs for them to thrive, both academically and socially. While it is certainly possible for schools to be successful without implementing the practices in this study, the major findings in this work create a framework for high school principals to consider in their practice. My research offers insight into innovative leadership practices that can transform the way we prepare school leaders, educate students, and conceptualize the purpose of public education.

This dissertation is a study of how religion is manufactured, policed, imagined, and defended in the modern United States. It traces the history of one group, MOVE, from its inception in the late 1960s to the present in order to illustrate how the category of religion functions in the modern United States. The central premise of the book is that MOVE people believed MOVE was a religion. They believed, nearly from the very beginning of the group, that John Africa was a prophet who communicated on behalf of the divine, that his Teachings were inspired and had supernatural effects on the body, and that MOVE people had a role to play in a cosmic conflict between forces of good (The Law of Mama) and forces of evil (The System). Despite this, MOVE was rarely allowed to be a religion. That is, MOVE’s claim that they had a religion was, more often than not, dismissed. Historians of religion have, in recent years, begun turning their attention to the people with the power to define lived experience as either religious or secular. In MOVE’s case, the people who defined their experience as secular, and not religious, included police officers, judges, journalists, established religious leaders, and politicians. At various points throughout MOVE’s history, these social actors articulated a series of claims about what “true religion” was and why MOVE did not count. The disconnect between how MOVE people viewed themselves and how MOVE was understood by most outside the group points to the central concern of this dissertation.

Mobile and wearable interfaces try to integrate digital information into our everyday experiences but usually require more attention than is appropriate and often fail to do so in a natural and socially acceptable way. In this thesis we present "ReachMedia," a system for seamlessly providing just-in-time information for everyday objects. The system is built around a wireless wristband that detects objects that the user is interacting with and allows the use of gestures for interaction. Thus enables hands-and-eyes-free interfacing with relevant information using a unique combination of audio output and gestural input, allowing for socially acceptable, on-the-move interaction. We demonstrate that such an interaction is more natural to the user than existing mobile interfaces.
