Abstract:
Monocytic leukaemia zinc-finger protein (MOZ) is a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) implicated in haematopoiesis and acute myeloid leukaemia, as well as embryonic and postnatal development. MOZ contains multiple domains, including a MYST HAT domain and a double PHD finger domain (DPF) suggesting it interacts with histones. This work has established for the first time that the MOZ DPF exhibits dual functionality in establishing and sensing post-translational modifications (PTMs) of histones. Ma thèse a porté sur l'étude du rôle de l'histone acétyltransférase MOZ (monocytic leukaemia zinc finger protein) dans l'hématopoïèse et la leucémogenèse. Le gène MOZ est impliqué dans plusieurs translocations chromosomiques retrouvées dans des leucémies aiguës myéloïdes (LAM). Nous avons étudié l’interaction potentielle entre MOZ et MLL (mixed lineage leukemia), une histone méthyltransférase dont le gène est très fréquemment réarrangé dans les leucémies aiguës humaines. Chromosomal rearrangements associated with the M4/M5 subtype of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia include fusions of the gene encoding the histone acetyltransferase (HAT) MOZ with genes encoding the transcription factor coactivators TIF2, CBP or p300. The physiological roles of MOZ in vivo remain to be established. However, TIF2 functions to recruit the HATs CBP/p300 to ligand-bound Nuclear Receptors (NR), thus leading to transcription activation. This essay examines the first chapter in Moa Martinson’s Kvinnor och äppelträd, “Mor badar”. Drawing on the theories of Ahmed and Butler, this analysis considers how the Body, the Gaze, and Space interact to form a new presentation of bathing women, in direct opposition to the one more commonly portrayed by male Swedish primitivists during the same time. Simultaneously, the essay considers, utilizing Grosz’s idea of “body writing”, how the chapter constitutes a method for Martinson as a female writer to claim control over the portrayal of women.
