Woven fabric perforation is helpful to be adopted to meet the microstructure requirement of a micro-perforated panel (MPP) absorber. Unlike conventional MPP, the woven fabric micro-perforations are formed by yarn in the x (weft) and y (warp)-directions. Hence, minute holes of the MPP with a diameter of 0.1–0.3 mm or a high perforation ratio are expected to be easily fabricated, while such a specification is difficult to realize on a solid surface, as found in some studies. This research explores the theoretical principles, computational algorithms, and real-world applications of optimal control and reinforcement learning, emphasizing their convergence for scalable and adaptive robotic automation. Key topics include dynamic programming, Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equations, policy optimization, model-based RL, actor-critic methods, and deep RL architectures. The study also examines traject

Measuring What Really Matters - Beyond GDP and GNI for holistic view of national wellbeing. United Nations University - International Institute for Global Health, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.37941/rr/2023/9.

Abstract:
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Income (GNI) were designed to serve as a scorecard for economic growth by measuring the monetary value of all local goods and services produced within a given period. Today they are also used by the development assistance architecture as proxies to measure a nation’s overall wellbeing and, in some cases, eligibility for external funding. In this review, we assess the academic and grey literature to identify potential alternatives to GDP and GNI that aim to incorporate broader definitions of wellbeing. Two are particularly noteworthy for their rea

An Input Linearized Powertrain Model for the Optimal Control of Hybrid Electric Vehicles. SAE International, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.4271/2022-01-0741.

Abstract:
Models of hybrid powertrains are used to establish the best combination of conventional engine power and electric motor power for the current driving situation. The model is characteristic for having two control inputs and one output constraint: the total torque should be equal to the torque requested by the driver. To eliminate the constraint, several alternative formulations are used, considering engine power or motor power or even the ratio between them as a single control input. From this input and the constraint, both power levels can be deduced. There are different popular choices for th
