In order to reach our goal, we analyzed the software MSN Messenger in regards to its use in the business administration area and by an interpersonal communication group. For these studies we used theories that emphasize the aspects of face/without face interaction, the importance of form for the groups which were analyzed. We tried to map the history of science and technology development in the state of Goiás and the effort of the government to fight the digital exclusion. However, we found members of the society who are highly qualified, therefore making use of the information technologies in their daily life, this enabled us to get to know the inner aspects of each group, as well as their specific characteristics. The application of theories was done through the analysis of interviews and dialogues which furnished us the structure and application of the groups and also the influence of the MSN Messenger over the sociability forms of their members.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the practices and uses of the Internet and of Windows Live Messenger. It charts out different uses of the Internet and WLM among young people, and analyses the way they are adopted, at a time when the individual is experimenting with social and cultural identities. It deals with the specificities of WLM, and the types of sociability associated with it. The results of the study show that practices linked to the objects studied evolve in some areas, while remaining stable in others. The thesis seeks to establish the key traits which go to make up, socially and technically « young people’s culture », and lays out the different criteria specific to the propagation and adoption of a technical artifact by young people. Understanding and analyzing the social uses of WLM allows us to identify the relational context surrounding its insertion and the social and cultural evolutions implied by associated practices. For this reason, the study is based on a corpus composed of two empirical data-sets, recorded three years apart, involving middle-school, high-school and university students from the Côte d’Or region of Burgundy. From a theoretical viewpoint, the study is based on user sociology and approaches the Internet and WLM as social and technical artifacts. This perspective questions the concepts of digital culture, of digital and social divides, of social use and of social relations. A final part of the thesis applies the findings to the development of ICT in Burgundy and in rural regions, in the form of a set of guidelines. A series of three interviews were conducted with local politicians elected to the French senate, in order to establish the vision of political leaders both on local and national levels, concerning the role and the issues surrounding ICT from the point of view of urban development, and their implications, in terms of social relations, for maintaining social cohesion

Abstract:

This study is belong to constructional futures research, the major research method is Causal Layered Analysis (CLA), a methodology of futurology, which we can watch and read all different situations and clues by participant research. Using of CLA method that we understand underlying change processes and culture’s deep assumption, and furthermore we are able to find out principal direction and tendency influencing future development. In the later period, this study adopts the Ethnographic Futures Research (EFR) in qualitative inquiry to elicit scenarios. Drawing support from sociocultural leaders who guide us to expand our view on the question, and they increase social options exactly and properly. Through EFR scenarios, we shape four creative future images. They are: (1) the cybersociety of perfectly individual liberty; (2) the cybersociety of individualism and diversification; (3) the cybersociety of alienation and dissimilation; (4) the transparent and surveillance cybersociety. Finally, we try to make reflective thinking about possible implications of optimistic or pessimistic visions at collective desire.
96
As the design trends towards cross-field and cross-country modal, and distance designing become the market environment that the designers must face. The distance designing system is a tool developing in this environment. Comparing to the immature development in initial stage, the generation in technology and internet develops rapidly and grows to be mature. Moreever, it develops many distance communication facilities in software and hardware, such as Interwise、Co Create-OSD、Pro/E-Windchill, to help the progress of the distance designing. This kind of system has been a mature design tools, but it is hard to popularize to design market for the expensive price. In this thesis, we try to apply MSN Messenger and Skype to the cencept development stage which is the most frequent interaction part in executing process. After understanding the meaning, properties and problems, we discuss in effect of the results of the cencept development with different media (handwriting, digital communication tools) and prove the possibility of real-time communication system applied to cencept development by Qualitative analysis. Further, we construct a distance designing communication modal in cencept development stage based on MSN Messenger and Skype and make the cooperative design tools broader and more convenient in future.

Abstract:
94
Recently, Instant Messaging (IM) has been widely discussed. Based on the content of discussion in this study, we can observe that IM is gradually becoming an important commercial communication tool. The increasing number of worldwide IM subscribers and the fast growing online revenue boost the potential of IM as a key business opportunity in China. As the numbers of users grow tremendously, the emerging commercial opportunities are attracting many investors’ interests to enter this market aggressively. Online payment plays an important role in the electronic commerce. It provides efficient trading experiences for both sellers and buyers through the internet. Therefore, the goal of this study is to investigate into the factors that affect consumer’s intention to use the online payment which integrated with IM. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is considered as the basic model. To better reflect IM context, the research model also incorporates Prior Experience, Familiarity and Trust. The results showed that consumer's intention to use a new payment method on IM was influenced by his/her prior experience and familiarity. Together, they explained 56 % of the observed variance in the payment method on IM. Trust toward the payment method, one the other hand, did not exhibit direct influence to the consumer intention to use the payment method on IM. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

Abstract:
99
This study describes the phenomenon of languages used in synchronous Computer-Mediated Communication, focusing on MSN Messenger, and the issue of language contact – code-switching (CS)–among Chinese- English bilinguals in Taiwan. Previous studies placed a great emphasis on conversational data of CS (Gumperz 1983; Myers-Scotton 1993; Muysken 1997). Little attention has been paid to how bilinguals or multilinguals use their linguistic resources in the CMC setting (e.g. Huang 2004). The aim of this research is to reveal how CS is identified among writing systems, depending on inspecting the language patterns and language use in online communication. The data reveals that, contrary to previous studies, there are two levels of CS, that is, CS analyzed at the level of language and at the level of writing system. Three languages and three writing systems used on MSN Messenger are identified in my data. The languages include Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English; meanwhile, the writing systems include Standard Written Chinese (SWC), Chinese Zhuyin and English alphabet. At the level of language, four patterns of CS are found: CS between Mandarin and English, CS between Mandarin and Taiwanese, CS between Mandarin and Taiwanese-Mandarin and CS among Mandarin, English and Taiwanese. Considering CS at the level of writing systems, three patterns are identified: CS between SWC and English Alphabet, CS between SWC and Chinese Zhuyin and CS among SWC, English alphabet and Chinese Zhuyin. Based on common thinking, both SWC and Chinese Zhuyin are used to represent not only Mandarin, but Taiwanese, and Taiwanese-Mandarin (Yang 2008); while English alphabets are merely used to represent English. Contrary to previous studied in the field of CS, the data shows that MSN Messenger users can use SWC and Zhuyin to represent English with similar to the usage of English alphabets to represent either Mandarin or Taiwanese. The data finds that there are more tokens of CS at the level of writing system (58.02%) than those of CS at the level of language (41.98%). The higher percentage of CS at the level of writing system may be attributed to the fact that the usage of writing system is so various and diversified, resulting from the widespread employment of English alphabet. The high frequency of using English alphabet is due to the great variety of linguistic features of English, such as capital letter, versatile English letter, onomatopoetic word, emotional icon (emoticon) and abbreviation. It is concluded that CS is a common language phenomenon on synchronous CMC whether at the level of language or at the level of writing system.

Abstract:
96
Using a GPS to navigate, a guard locates a car theft and utilizes vehicle tracking which is at present widely employed. In this paper the terminal device using a microcontroller combines a GPS and a GSM/GPRS to make a portable and remote controlling device, and an embedded server is used as a transfer location server. In this way one accomplishes real-time vehicle trajectory monitoring. Clients can remotely monitor a vehicle’s position anywhere. Besides, as we have designed the remote monitoring using a virtual comport to combine the existing commercial or free electronic map directly, we need not develop or revise the electronic map software. We have designed a smart server using software agent technology which integrates an MSN Autoresponder, an authority manager, a moving objects detector and a streaming media encoder into a powerful PC to implement the auto-reply, the authority, the active alert and the remote monitoring functions. By using the remote video surveillance and MSN communication technologies, the remote clients can monitor the cameras. The location of the remote clients may be anywhere in the world, provided that there is an MSN Messenger.
