Abstract:
This paper considers the issues and theoretical aspects related to improving the design of maritime tethered systems (MTSs) with flexible links (FLs) using underwater towed systems (UTSs) as an example. That allows them to be used in the early stages of design by implementing the principles of Shipbuilding 4.0 and BIM technologies. Such regimes have not previously been described by existing mathematical models (MMs). The expected result of the current study is a significant decrease in the cost of different resources. At the same time, the basic reliable results of design solutions could be obtained already in the early stages of design. The theoretical basis of the proposed method for improving the design of MTS with FL is the improved design concept (IDC) for MTS with FL while the tool base of the method is a special modeling complex (SMC). The use of IDC along with SMC at the research (pre-prototype) design phase reduces the number of MTS design stages. The proposed method to improve the design of MTS with FL, based on the MM that notates the dynamics of MTS FL and MTS with FL, makes it possible to investigate different modes of operation of almost all MTS classes. That allows devising the recommendations for predicting possible operational loads in order to design their elements. At the same time, there is an opportunity to improve the existing methods for calculating and designing MTS with FL with the required properties and parameters, and to bring them to the level of engineering application. The application of SMC at the pre-prototype design stage makes it possible to avoid the use of physical modeling of the operational regimes of MTS with FL associated with the full-scale testing on the high seas

Abstract:
Over the last two decades, metamaterials (MMs) and metasurfaces (MTSs) have been used to fabricate innovative antenna designs, offering cost-effective solutions compared to conventional radiating systems. This paper investigates the feasibility of combining MM design concepts and imaging techniques to create innovative microwave imaging systems. In particular, we present an experimental study with the aim of enhancing microwave imaging for haemorrhagic stroke detection using a new MTS design. First, we show the improvement in performance for a stand-alone MTS-loaded antenna, by studying its operating characteristics in the near and far fields. Then, we assess the performance of the MTS on the reconstruction results from simulations and measurements on two tissue-mimicking gel-based brain phantoms with a cylindrical target representing the bleeding in haemorrhagic stroke. The brain phantom was immersed inside an imaging tank filled with 90% glycerol matching liquid. To perform the image reconstructions, we used both a Huygens based radar algorithm and a DBIM-TwIST tomography algorithm. Our simulation and measurement results indicate that the proposed MTS design improves target localization and decreases image artefacts for the tomographic algorithm and enables target’s detection through our radar technique, paving the way for a hybrid microwave imaging prototype with MTS enhanced antennas.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide a simulation modelling framework to examine the behaviour of a serial make-to-stock (MTS) manufacturing system under the influence of various uncertainties. Further, the study analyses effect of propagation uncertainties from lower to upper stream of supply chain. Design/methodology/approach – System dynamics modelling approach has been adopted for modelling and analysing the behaviour of a serial MTS manufacturing system under the influence of different uncertainties such as demand, supplier acquisition rate, raw material (RM) supply lead time, processing time and delay due to machine failure. The backup supply strategy has been proposed to mitigate the adverse effect of the RM supply uncertainty. Findings – The effect of variations of various factors on the performance of a MTS manufacturing supply chain in measured through various performance measures like work-in-progress (WIP) inventory, backlog and RM shortage at both manufacturer’s and supplier’s end. The benefit of adopting backup supply strategy under RM supply uncertainty is demonstrated. Research limitations/implications – This work is limited to analysis of a serial MTS manufacturing system dealing with a single product having two machines only. The study can be easily extended to a more complex system with multiple machines, lines and products. Practical implications – A simple simulation framework has been proposed to analyse the effect of various uncertainties on the performance of a MTS manufacturing system. The managers can simulate complex systems using simulation approaches to generate if-then scenarios to gain insight into practical problems and formulate strategies to mitigate adverse effect of uncertainties at various level of supply chain. Originality/value – The study analyses behaviour of MTS manufacturing system under the effect of various uncertainties operating simultaneously in the system. A backup supplier strategy is proposed to improve the service level at the customer’s end through improving service level at the supplier’s end. Similarly, effective strategies can be tested with the proposed simple model to reduce the effect of uncertainty at different levels of the supply chain.

Abstract:
Problem-solving skills are highly important in various aspects of life and professions, particularly in mathematics education. However, many students struggle to develop these skills due to a lack of understanding, critical thinking abilities, practice, and motivation. To address this, educators need to adopt teaching strategies that strengthen students' problem-solving skills. One effective approach is the scientific learning model, which emphasizes the scientific process, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world applications. This study aims to assess the improvement of seventh-grade students' mathematical problem-solving skills using the scientific learning model. The research utilizes a descriptive quantitative approach with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consists of seventh-grade students from an Islamic Junior High School, and data collection includes pretest and posttest questions. The N-gain formula is used to measure improvement. The findings indicate a significant improvement in problem-solving abilities among students who receive instruction using the scientific learning model compared to those who do not. The improvement is categorized as moderate in the experimental class, while the control class shows a lower level of improvement. Factors such as students' enthusiasm, implementation of real-life problems, and increased independence contribute to the improvement in students' problem-solving abilities. The implementation of the scientific learning model significantly enhances students' mathematical problem-solving skills. Based on the field findings, there is a need for improvement in soft skills to support meaningful learning activities.

Abstract:
AbstractProblem-solving ability is essential in learning mathematics, not only as a learning objective but also as a vital skill for addressing real-life problems. However, field observations indicate that students' mathematical problem-solving abilities remain relatively low. One approach believed to enhance this ability is the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aims to examine the improvement of problem-solving ability through the PBL model and to categorize the level of improvement achieved. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population consisted of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh, with a randomly selected sample of class VII-8 using random sampling techniques. The data collection instrument consisted of pre-test and post-test problem-solving questions. The collected data were analyzed using the Independent Samples T-Test and N-gain score calculation. Data obtained from 31 respondents showed an improvement in mathematical problem-solving ability after implementing the PBL model, with the improvement falling into the moderate category. The hypothesis test yielded a significance value of < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant improvement. Based on the N-gain score analysis, the improvement was categorized as moderate. Therefore, the PBL model is proven to be effective in enhancing students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, although the level of improvement remains within the moderate category according to the N-gain results.

Abstract:
Based on the 2018 PISA report, the literacy and analytical abilities of Indonesian students are still very low. Poor literacy and analytical competence can be one of the factors that cause the low comprehension ability of Indonesian students in understanding and reading information. One method that has been proven to improve students' competence and skills, especially in analytical skills and increase students' curiosity is inquiry-based learning. Unfortunately, not all teachers have the pedagogical competencies needed to conduct inquiry learning. This problem is also seen in teachers in MTs. Nurul Huda Malang. Therefore, this community service activity is carried out to increase the capacity and pedagogical competence of teachers to improve the quality of learning that can trigger analytical attitudes in students. The implementation of service is carried out through several stages, namely: surveys and learning observations, training syllabus design, training implementation, and training evaluation. From the results of the implementation evaluation, it is known that the inquiry learning training is very useful and can be immediately applied by the teacher. In addition, there are other opportunities in the future to carry out training related to digital learning media needed by teachers in MTs. Nurul Huda Malang.

Abstract:
UAV-assisted MEC networks provide extensive communication coverage and massive computation services for mobile terminals (MTs), which are considered a promising edge paradigm to support future air–ground integrated communications. In this paper, an energy-efficient scheme in NOMA-based UAV-assisted MEC systems is proposed to address the system’s energy constraints and its inability to support massive MT access. Our goal is to minimize system-weighted energy consumption by jointly optimizing the allocation of transmission power, computation resources, and UAV trajectory scheduling. As the formulated problem is non-convex and difficult to solve directly, we decompose it into two manageable sub-problems and propose an iterative algorithm based on successive convex approximations (SCA) to solve each sub-problem alternatively. Simulation results show that the proposed joint optimization algorithm achieves a significant performance improvement compared to other benchmark approaches.

Abstract:
This research aims to determine the pedagogical model developed in relation to the mission of the MT language group. Overall, the research was carried out using the R & D method through 4-D steps: define, design, develop, expand, and disseminate (Thiagarajan, 1974). From these 4-D steps, the first three steps in developing learning models were carried out in the first year after experiments were carried out in previous research in 2023. Furthermore, the teaching development guide manuscript was still carried out in the second year. In the second year, the teaching models that have been tested still undergo a further development stage to perfect them, and then they are tested again on a larger scale. The results in the third year will undergo the dissemination stage. The manuscript for the Guide to Developing a Multimedia-Based Teaching Model will be subjected to a limited trial to obtain input as material for improvement. So, this manuscript is still in the development stage, which will be followed by the dissemination stage in the third year

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' speaking ability through learning with the modeling method. This research is a classroom action research. The research subjects were all class VIII students of MTs Alkhairaat Pinotu for the 2020/2021 academic year, totaling 20 people, namely 12 boys and 8 girls. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. The design of this study refers to the Kemmis and McTaggart model which consists of four components, namely 1) planning, 2) action implementation, 3) observation, and 4) reflection. The data collected in this study is in the form of teacher and student activity data during the learning process obtained by using observation sheets and student learning outcomes data obtained by giving individual tests to students. In the research that has been carried out, it was found that for the Grade VIII students of MTs Alkhairaat Pinotu, the score of the pre-action speech students was 45% and then increased from 71.2 in the first cycle to 78.2% in the second cycle. The increase in the second cycle was due to the researchers placing more emphasis on the concept of motivating students to be bolder in speaking out from the reflection of the first cycle in giving speeches using the modeling method. While in cycle II, the researcher emphasized changing the model in learning. Thus, the application of modeling media can improve the achievement of speaking skills (speech) of class VIII MTs Alkhairaat Pinotu students so that the application of modeling media is carried out by teachers to improve student learning outcomes
