Abstract:
Manifestation of infectious pathologies in fishes usually increases in environments where organic wastes are disposed. Specimens of Mugil platanus Günther, 1880 and water samples collected at three points of the Tramandaí river were analyzed during a one year period. The macroscopic observation revealed ulcerations in the caudal peduncle area covered with a mass of amorphous and whitened tissues. Histopathologic analysis showed the presence of negative gram bacteria, probably responsible for alterations of the normal structure of the epidermic tissues. Abstract:
Estudou-se no estuário de Cananéia, litoral do estado de São Paulo, Brasil, a presença de Ascocotyle (Phagicola) longa Ransom, 1920 (Digenea: Heterophylidae), trematódeo, em tainha (Mugil platanus, Günther, 1880). Foram realizadas amostragens a fresco e cortes histológicos em tecidos provenientes de 61 exemplares. A presença de metacercárias foi comprovada em 100% dos peixes examinados, com a seguinte distribuição: coração (21,6%), fígado (19,7%) e rins (58,6%). Myxobolus platanus n. sp. infecting the spleen of Mugil platanus Günther, 1880 (Osteichthyes, Mugilidae) from Lagoa dos Patos, Brazil is described The parasites formed round or slightly oval whitish plasmodia (about 0.05-0.1mm in diameter) on the surface of the organ. Microorganisms that cause human diseases can contaminate fishes in aquatic environments as well as during their capture, handling, and transport. The purpose of this study was to isolate Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Salmonella enterica from fishes captured in the Lagoa dos Patos estuary that were eviscerated and cleaned for trade. Thirteen fish landing were analyzed and 65 entire fishes and 65 cleaned fishes were studied to determine the presence of V. parahaemolyticus and S. enterica.
