Abstract:
This study explores the concept of sainthood in the medieval Islamic tradition. A close reading of the unexplored writings of two 14th C. mystical thinkers, Muh&dotbelow;ammad and `Ali Wafa', shows the presence of at least three distinct currents of thought regarding sainthood. One has been adopted from the Sufi order of the Shadhiliyya, one from the writings of a 9th C. central Asian mystic al-Tirmidhi, and one from the controversial 13th C. thinker Ibn `Arabi. Our study analyses how our Egyptian writers, Muh&dotbelow;ammad and `Ali Wafa', synthesized and elaborated upon these currents to develop a distinct doctrine of sainthood. Although our writers are to be located firmly within the Sunni tradition, it is significant that they felt free to draw on Shi'ite ideas for the construction of their own theory of the final great saint.

Abstract:
Long after a career that was as much marred by criticism as marked by accomplishment, Muhammad Au receives considerable public acclaim for his athletic accomplishments and his humanitarianism. However, no scholarly attention has been given to this man as a literary force who, through the power of his word, impacted the consciousness of this nation and world. This dissertation examines Ali as an artist operating within the context of African and African American oral literary traditions and will explore the impact of his oratory on the sociopolitical consciousness of this country. The analysis of the oral literature of Muhammad Ali, which consists of his lectures, interviews, and poetry, will involve an assessment of those aspects that make it a manifestation of the verbal culture of Africa and African America. Moreover, the study illustrates the degree to which the rhetoric and verse reflects both African-American national consciousness (i.e., black nationalism) and African folkloric tradition. In his creation of himself Ali utilizes traditional African and African American mythoforms like the trickster, the Badman, and the culture hero. In this respect, Muhammad Ali is the only athlete to emerge as an Afrocentric cultural hero. This subject encompasses matter of literature, African American studies, speech communications, and popular culture.

Wood, Augustus Clark III. "The sixth finger: Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, and the unconscious race hero in sports." DigitalCommons@Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center, 2012. http://digitalcommons.auctr.edu/dissertations/443.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examines both the mentality of black race heroes in American sporting history and the surrounding atmospheric influences on personality, mentality, masculinity, and global perspective on said heroes, using the case studies of iconic boxers Jack Johnson and Muhammad Au as the primary focus. This study was based on the premise that both boxers initiated a conscious effort of racial pride, black agency, and global hegemony through their consistent success both inside and outside the ring. The researcher found that in almost blind adoration, African Americans chose two unconscious, self-righteous, and raceless blacks who utilized their gifted abilities as boxers to only capture full masculinity in the forms of wealth and power. In response to their considerable inferior treatment at the hands of the majority, blacks actively sought dominant representations of success and defiance of the norms to carry their dreams of black pride. However, both Jack Johnson and Muhammad Ali repeatedly rejected their anointed statuses of “race men” for the chance at true wealth and power in the commercialization and exploitation of their masculinity. In addition, the background environments of both figures are essential to the true analysis of the mentality and perception of the boxers. The conclusions drawn from the finding suggest that both individuals rejected their hometown communities’ ideals of agency and activism and instead opted to embrace the more lucrative ideals of independence (Johnson and Galveston) and interdependence (Ali and Louisville). As the black community witnessed both Jack Johnson and Muhammad Au continuously thrive and capture success in a predominantly white and commercial environment, they also saw the potential to showcase the greatest aspects of the American black race not just nationally, but also globally to other black groups. Therefore, race consciousness would both intensify and spread if powerful, masculine icons continued to dominate in societal contests like sports. Because of these desires, blacks across the nation supplied insurmountable support and sustenance to these figures throughout their careers. In fact, to most blacks throughout the nation, both pugilists possessed superhuman qualities, or a “sixth finger.” As the twenty first century thrives, blacks continue the practice of selecting sporting representatives of the race to showcase dominance in athletics, society, and unconscious racial pride.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Social business, was first defined by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus and is described in his books. Social businesses are non-loss, non-dividend companies created to address and solve social or environmental problems. Microfinance is another form of social businesses. Like an NGO, social business has a social mission, but like a business, it generates its own revenues to cover its costs. In a social business, the investors/owners can gradually recoup the money invested, but cannot take any dividend beyond that point. The purpose of the investment is purely to achieve one or more social objectives through the operation of the company. No personal gain is desired by the investors. The company must cover all costs and be financially sustainable, while achieving the social objective in sectors such as healthcare, education, poverty, environment, housing, climate urgency etc. Legal structures available to all enterprises can be used by social businesses. These are: for-profit organizations, non-profit organizations (associations, foundations), charities, co-operatives. However, there are legal structures specifically designed of social businesses. These are: benefit corporation, flexible purpose corporation, low profit limited liability company (L3C), hybrids, community interest company (CIC).The purpose is this study is to contribute to the Turkish literature related to social businesses. In this study, definition of social business and microfinance will be given. The characteristics of social business will be indicated, social business examples will be presented and finally legal structures of social businesses will be analyzed. This study is descriptive study.

Abstract:
Mevlânâ was born on September 30, 1207, in the city of Balkh, one of the old Turkish cultural centers, today within the borders of Afghanistan. His real name is Muhammed Celâleddin. His grandfather, Hüseyin Hatibî, was one of the great scholars of his time. His father, Bahâeddin Veled, was known as "Sultânü'l Ulemâ" (Sultân of Scholars). Sultânü'l Ulemâ, an honest person who did not hesitate to speak to anyone, would say everything he knew right in his lessons and sermons without knowing any boundaries. Language is the symbol of being human. Language, which is the necessity of being human, the development of thought and emotion, indispensable of respect and love, is a legacy that nations inherited from the past to the present and the future. It is a known fact that individuals speaking the same language have the same background, culture and values, that is, a common destiny. Our expressions clearly carry the values, norms and social control elements, beliefs and traditions of our nation and play an important role in transferring the above-listed ones to future generations with the help of the language they are a part of. Mevlana has a very important place in the history of Turkish literature. In our study, there will be a language study on volume I based on the book "All Stories in Mesnevi" prepared by Mehmet Zeren. Based on the auxiliary verbs in the stories in the book, the idioms in the sentence will be determined. The idioms determined in the work, the number of lines and the number of pages will be determined. How often the author has used idiomatic word groups and will evaluate the meaning he adds to the sentence. Key words: Mevlana, Mesnevi, İdiom, Language Study

"Nitrate in Groundwater and Health Risk Assessment: A Cross-Sectional Study in Three Villages in Tanah Merah District, Kelantan, Malaysia During Paddy Pre-Planting Season." In The 7th International Conference on Public Health 2020. Masters Program in Public Health, Universitas Sebelas Maret, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.26911/the7thicph.01.27.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Introduction: Contamination of nitrate is one of the most common groundwater problems worldwide. Around 70% of residents in the state of Kelantan still rely on groundwater as their primary source of water supply. Extensive usage of fertilizer in agricultural areas may cause nitrate leaching into the groundwater. This study aimed to determine the level of nitrate in groundwater and health risk assessment at three villages in Tanah Merah District, Kelantan, Malaysia. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Tanah Merah district, Kelantan, in January 2020. A total of 52 residents was selected by purposive sampling. The inclusion criteria for study subjects were long life residents, age ≥18 years old, and groundwater as a primary source of drinking supply. The study variables were (1) Level of nitrate in groundwater measured according to age (year), depth (meter), and distance (meter) of well from the agricultural area; and (2) Health risk assessment measured by hazard quotient (HQ). A set of questionnaires consisted of four sections to gather information related to socio-demographic, water usage, living environment, and health status. Groundwater samples were collected in duplicates and were analysed using a Hanna Instruments portable pH/ORP/ISE meter with an attached nitrate electrode. The data were reported descriptively. Results: Nitrate levels were found to be under the maximum acceptable value of 10 mg/L, as stated by the Drinking Water Quality Standard of Malaysia. Nitrate level ranged from 0.22 to 8.81 mg/L (Mean= 2.94; SD= 2.27). Spearman rho correlation showed that nitrate level was significantly and negatively correlated the age of wells (r= -0.31; p= 0.025). Nitrate level was not significantly correlated with the depth (r= 0.19; p= 0.183) and distance of wells (r= -0.05; p= 0.751). Hazard quotient (HQ) for all study subjects was <1, which means that exposure to nitrate contained drinking water in study subjects was not detrimental to health. Conclusion: Nitrate levels were below the maximum acceptable value, but continuous monitoring from health authorities is essential since other seasons of paddy planting may contribute higher deposition of nitrate into groundwater.

Abstract:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC, or Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at) believe themselves to be Muslims. The AMC was founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1889 as a revival movement within Islam. Unlike all other sects of Islam, they believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835–1908) of Qadian (a small town in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India) is the same promised Messiah who was prophesied by the prophet Muhammad. Other sects believe that the promised Messiah is yet to come and, therefore, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a false prophet and his followers are non-Muslims.
