Abstract:

The leafhopper tribe Mukariini (Deltocephalinae) is newly recorded from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Members of the tribe are reviewed including the genus Benglebra Mahmood & Ahmed 1969 from Bangladesh, which was previously placed in Typhlocybinae, new placement. The identities of its two included species, B. alami Mahmood & Ahmed and B. bipunctata Mahmood & Ahmed are discussed, and their types re-examined and illustrated. A new genus, Shanaya gen. nov., is proposed within the tribe Mukariini, based on the discovery of two new species from India that could not be assigned to any previously described genera. Detailed morphological descriptions and photographic illustrations are provided for both species: Shanaya spatulata gen. et sp. nov. Bamboosella Sanna & Webb gen. nov., with B. dimorpha Sanna, Holzinger & Callot, sp. nov., is described and illustrated. Characters of face and body, forewings venation and male genitalia place the new genus in the tribe Mukariini (Deltocephalinae). In common with all other members of the tribe, the species is oligophagous on bamboo (Phyllostachys spp., Poaceae) and has a flattened body. <i>Mukaria sakaeratensis</i> Piraonapicha & Chomphuphuang, sp. nov. is described based on male and female specimens recently collected in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Abstract:

The present study reported a new bamboo- feeding leafhopper genus, Bambusimukaria Yang, Chen and Li, (2016) for the first time from Medziphema, Nagaland, India. Earlier Bambusimukaria had been described from China. The description is based on female genitalia of species B. quinquepunctata and illustrations of female habitus and genitalia are provided. The examined material is deposited in National Pusa Collections at Division of Entomology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India (NPC).
