Abstract:
We examined and quantified the discontinuous ventilation cycle (DVC) characteristics of unfed nymphs and adults, as well as engorged nymphal and engorged diapausing and non-diapausing female adult life-stages, of the African tortoise tick Amblyomma marmoreum (Koch). All engorged stages ventilated continuously, with little evidence of active spiracular control. Unfed nymphs and adults ventilated discontinuously; at low activity and standard metabolic rate (SMR) levels, mean DVC duration was approximately 0.4 h in nymphs (mean mass 0.7 mg) and 2.8 h in female adults (mean mass 70 mg). SMR, measured as rate of CO2 production (V(dot)CO2; 0.064 mul mg-1 h-1 and 0.019 mul mg-1 h-1, respectively), was almost tenfold lower than that estimated for spiders of equivalent mass. In adults, the DVC was modulated to accommodate changing V(dot)CO2 chiefly by changes in DVC frequency. Modulation of other DVC characteristics was bimodal; at low V(dot)CO2 (below the ‘SMR threshold’), burst volumes were large and not correlated with V(dot)CO2, but the rate of CO2 emission during the burst was modulated by V(dot)CO2. Above the SMR threshold, burst volumes were small and tightly correlated with V(dot)CO2. No fluttering-spiracle phase could be detected, but CO2 bursts were triggered at low volumes above the SMR threshold, suggesting that hypoxia in addition to hypercapnia may initiate the termination of DVCs in the burst phase, rather than initiating the flutter phase as in insects. To explain this bimodal modulation of the DVC by V(dot)CO2 (and hence V(dot)O2) above and below the SMR threshold, we hypothesize that, below the SMR threshold, unfed ixodid ticks - with their very low SMR and large surface area/volume ratio - may obtain significant amounts of O2 by transcuticular or other putative non-spiracular avenues of O2 uptake (larval ticks obtain all their O2 in this way).

Abstract:
The 35C1 NQR spectra of the chlorochalcogenide complexes of iridium (SCl3)2 [IrCl6] 1, (TeCl3)2 [IrCl6] 2, (SeCl3) [IrCl6] 3, [IrCl3(SCl2)2]2 4, (SCl3) [IrCl4(SCl2)2] 5 and [IrCl3(SeCl2)2]2 6 have been studied. The spectra were recorded by pulse spectrometry. They consist of two mul tiplets, widely separated in frequency. The high-frequency multiplet belongs to the chlorine atoms bonded to sulfur, selenium and tellurium, respectively, in the ligand. A high-frequency shift is observed, which is typical for the coordination of the molecules ACl2(A=S, Se) and ACl4(A=S, Se, Te). The low frequencies in the multiplets of 4 and 6 are attributed to additional bonds formed between chalcogen atom and chlorine in the coordination environment of iridium.In the spectral region 18-24 MHz lie the NQR frequencies of 35Cl bonded to iridium. For 2 the frequencies are close to those of [IrCl6]2-, which confirms the Ir oxidation state IV. The unexpectedly high frequencies for IrIII in the case of 4 and 5 are explained by the influence of ACl2 molecules, which are weaker σ-donors than the chloro ligands. This promotes electron density transfer from neighbouring chlorine atoms. The 18 MHz frequency is assigned to the bridge chlorine atoms in dimeric molecule 4. This assignment is confirmed by the positive value of d v/dT = +0,2.

Abstract:
A simple, rapid and novel method for the detection of residues of thiamphenicol (TAP), florfenicol (FF) and its metabolite, florfenicol amine (FFA), in poultry eggs by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection (UPLC-FLD) was developed. The samples were extracted with acetonitrile-ammonia (98:2, v/v) using accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) and purified by manual degreasing with acetonitrile-saturated n-hexane. The target compounds were separated on an ACQUITY UPLC® BEH C18 (2.1 mm × 100 mm, 1.7 μm) chromatographic column using a mobile phase composed of 0.005 mol/L NaH2PO4, 0.003 mol/L sodium lauryl sulfate and 0.05% trimethylamine, adjusted to pH 5.3 ± 0.1 by phosphoric acid and acetonitrile (64:36, v/v). The limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) of the three target compounds in poultry eggs were 1.8–4.9 µg/kg and 4.3–11.7 µg/kg, respectively. The recoveries of the three target compounds in poultry eggs were above 80.1% when the spiked concentrations of three phenicols were the LOQ, 0.5 maximum residue limit (MRL), 1.0 MRL and 2.0 MRL. The intraday relative standard deviations (RSDs) were less than 5.5%, and the interday RSDs were less than 6.6%. Finally, this new detection method was successfully applied to the quantitative analysis of TAP, FF and FFA in 150 commercial poultry eggs.

Abstract:
An efficient high frequency plant regeneration protocol through direct organogenesis was developed for Sevia rebaudiana. Shoot tips containing axillary buds were used as an explant and inoculated on Murashige and Skoog’s (MS) medium containing 3% (w/v) sucrose, 0.6% (w/v) agar supplemented with various concentrations of benzy-ladenine (BA), kinetin (Kn) and thidiazuron (TDZ).. BAP proved to be a better choice than Kn and the maximum number of shoots (3.75) was obtained on 2.0 mgL-1 BAP concentration. Considering all parameters, combination of BAP and Kn gave comparatively better performance than single BAP or Kn. TDZ was effective for multiple shooting. Though, 1.5 mgL-1 TDZ gave the best number of shoots (14.5), but 1.0 mgL-1 TDZ gave best performance in response to all parameters under study. The highest number of shoots was obtained in 60 mlL-1 coconut water, but 40 mlL-1 coconut water gave the best result to all parameters. Root induction was tested by using two auxins namely NAA and IBA at different concentrations (1.0, 1.5, 2.0 mgL-1) on the MS medium. IBA at 1.0 mgL-1 increased the rooting response (66.67%), number of roots (7.0) and root length (2.9 cm). Abstract:
The insecticidal effects of five ethanolic extracts produced from three species of the genus Maytenus: M. boaria leaf (MBL), M. boaria bark (MBB), M. boaria seed (MBS), M. disticha leaf (MDL) and M. magellanica leaf (MML) were evaluated on the lady beetle Hippodamia convergens (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) and on the pest of berry Aegorhinus superciliosus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). The anti-feeding effects of the extracts on the latter were also evaluated. Residual application was used, with five concentrations for each species of insect and ten replications of each assay. To evaluate anti-feeding action in adult A. superciliosus, choice (C) and no-choice (NC) experiments were established to determine the percentage of leaf area consumed. The assays lasted for 120 hours, with the mortality and anti-feeding effect monitored every 24 hours. The highest percentage of mortality in the two insect species was recorded with the MBS ethanolic extract: H. convergens presented 82 %, with LC50: 32 mg/ml; while A. superciliosus presented 85 % in the choice assay and 86 % in the no-choice assay, with LC50: 23 mg/ml. In both assays, the mortality increased with exposure time, reaching its highest at 120 hours. The lowest mortality was obtained with MBB extract in choice (C) and with MML extract in no-choice (NC) assays. In the choice assay, the highest percentage of leaf area consumed was recorded with MBB extract, while in the no-choice assay the highest percentage of consumed was with MML extract, which presented higher values even than the control with no application. The lowest leaf percentage consumed, in both assays, was recorded with MBS extract at the highest concentrations (20 and 30 % w/v).

The 71,000/73,000-molecular-weight protein was identified as the product of the c-mil proto-oncogene by the close structural relationship of its 42,000-molecular-weight carboxyl-terminal domain to the v-mil-encoded domain of the hybrid protein p100gag-mil specified by the avian retrovirus MH2. The amino-terminal domain of the cellular protein is encoded by 5' c-mil sequences that have not been transduced into the genome of MH2. The c-mil protein (p71/73c-mil) was found to be phosphorylated in vivo, and homologous proteins were detected at variable levels in a variety of vertebrate cells, including human cells.

Estudos eletroanalíticos foram realizados com o Nedocromil de Sódio empregando as técnicas voltamétricas de varredura linear, pulso diferencial e onda quadrada, em tampão Britton-Robinson (pH 4,0). No estudo voltamétrico empregando a modalidade de varredura linear observou-se dois picos catódicos, irreversíveis, nos valores de potencial de -0,86 V e -1,10 V (vs ECS). As correntes de pico catódicas apresentaram um controle difusional segundo a relação Ipc versus v½. A dependência de Ipc com a concentração apresentou linearidade entre 5,0x10-4 mol L-1 e 5,0x10-3 mol L-1, limite de detecção de 8,2x10-5 mol L-1 e sensibilidade de 6,3x10³ mA/ mol L-1. Na voltametria de pulso diferencial o Nedocromil de Sódio apresentou dois picos catódicos, irreversíveis, nos valores de potencial de -0,67 V e -0,75 V (vs ECS). Curvas analíticas foram obtidas no intervalo de 3,0x10-6 mol L-1 a 1,0x10-5 mol L-1, limite de detecção de 4,9x10-7 mol L-1 e sensibilidade de 8,7x10(4) mA/ mol L-1. Na voltametria de onda quadrada observou-se dois picos catódicos nos valores de potencial de -0,80 V e -0,91 V (vs ECS), linearidade de 5,0x10-7 mol L-1 a 1,0x10-5 mol L-1, com limite de detecção e uma sensibilidade de 2,7x10-6 mol L-1 e 1,1x10(6) mA/ mol L-1, respectivamente.

Abstract:
An innovative, rapid and stable method for simultaneous determination of three tetracycline (oxytetracycline, tetracycline and doxycycline) and two fluoroquinolone (ciprofloxacin and enrofloxacin) residues in poultry eggs by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography–fluorescence detection (UPLC-FLD) was established and optimized. The samples were homogenized and extracted with acetonitrile/ultrapure water (90:10, v/v) and then purified by solid-phase extraction (SPE). LC separation was achieved on an ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 column (1.7 µm, 2.1 mm × 100 mm), and the mobile phase was composed of acetonitrile and a 0.1 mol/L malonic acid solution containing 50 mmol/L magnesium chloride (the pH was adjusted to 5.5 with ammonia). When the five target drugs were spiked at the limit of quantification, 0.5 times the maximum residue limit (MRL), 1.0 MRL and 2.0 MRL, the recoveries were above 83.5% and the precision ranged from 1.99% to 6.24%. These figures of merit complied with the parameter validation regulations of the EU and U.S. FDA. The limits of detection and quantifications of the targets were 0.1–13.4 µg/kg and 0.3–40.1 µg/kg, respectively. The proposed method was easily extended to quantitative analyses of target drug residues in 85 egg samples, thus demonstrating its reliability and applicability.

The formation of fluorescent alkali metal and alkaline earth complexes of 1-(2-{10-[2-piperazinoethyl]-9-anthryl}ethyl)piperazine (1) and alkaline earth complexes by 4-(2-{10-[2-(1,4-thiazinan-4-yl)ethyl]-9-anthryl}ethyl)thiomorpholine (2) in acetonitrile is reported. Both (1) and (2) have ‘fluorophore–spacer–receptor’ structures in the sequences ‘anthracene–dimethylene–piperazine’ and ‘anthracene–dimethylene–thiomorpholine’, respectively. Complexation by alkali metal ions and alkaline earth ions, Mm+, modulate photoinduced electron transfer (PET) to increase the fluorescence of (1) and complexation of alkaline earth ions similarly increases the fluorescence of (2). The two receptors of (1) and (2) may either complex Mm+ singly to form [ML]m+ or cooperatively to form a ‘sandwich’ complex [ML′]m+ characterized together by complexation constant K1 and quantum yield φ1. They may also complex two Mm+ in [M2L]2m+ characterized by K2 and φ2. Typical data are exemplified for (1) and Mm+ = Na+ by K1 = 1.33 × 105 dm3 mol–1 (φ1 = 0.02) and K2 = 4.20 × 102 dm3 mol–1 (φ1 = 0.07), for (1) and Mm+ = Ca2+ by K1 = 3.2 × 106 dm3 mol–1 (φ1 = 0.34) and K2 = 1.32 × 104 dm3 mol–1 (φ2 = 0.54), and for (2) and Mm+ = Ca2+ by K1 = 2.29 × 104 dm3 mol–1 (φ1 = 0.20) and K2 = 8.0 × 102 dm3 mol–1 (φ2 = 0.57) at 298.2 K and I = 0.05 mol dm–3 (NEt4ClO4). AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan lintasan belajar untuk membantu siswa dalam pembelajaran statistika menggunakan konteks mal di kelas V. Penelitian ini berdasarkan PMRI yang dikaitkan dengan pembelajaran tematik integratif Kurikulum 2013. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah design research type validation study yang bertujuan untuk membuktikan teori-teori pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SD Islam Az-Zahrah Palembang dengan melibatkan siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 24 siswa. Aktivitas-aktivitas pembelajaran yang dilakukan siswa meliputi: 1) membuat turus, 2) menggambar dan menyusun toko baju, 3) memotong dan menyambung batang, 4) menentukan banyak toko baju anak yang sering terdapat di setiap lantai mal, menata ulang susunan toko baju di setiap lantai mal, menentukan toko baju yang terbanyak dan paling sedikit di setiap lantai mal. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui serangkaian aktivitas yang telah dilakukan membantu siswa dalam pembelajaran statistika. A catalytic voltammetric method for the determination of vanadium(V) at a multi-wall carbon nanotube paste electrode (MWCNT-PE) in a 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol(PAR)-bromate system is proposed. The voltammetric response of V(V)-PAR complex at MWCNT-PE was significantly enhanced because of a catalytic cycle consisting of electrochemical reduction of V(V) ion in the complex and subsequent chemical oxidation of the reduction product of V(V) by bromate. In pH 2.70 H2SO4 solution containing 5.0×10-6 mol•L-1 PAR and 3.0×10-2 mol•L-1 KBrO3 without any preconcentration, the linear sweep voltammetric peak current of the catalytic wave was proportional to the vanadium concentration in the range of 8.0×10-9 to 3.0×10-6 mol•L-1. The detection limit was 2.5×10-9 mol•L-1. Using the proposed method, the vanadium concentration in crude oil was evaluated and the results were compared with those of atomic absorption spectrometry.

Telah dilakukan karakterisasi sensor gas oksigen berupa pelet heterokontak, dengan lapisan pertama pelet adalah TiO2 didoping 0% mol, 2% mol, 4% mol, 6% mol, 8% mol, 10% mol CuO dan lapisan kedua pelet adalah 50% mol ZnO dicampur 50% mol TiO2. Proses pembuatan sensor terdiri dari pencampuran bahan, kalsinasi pada temperatur 500oC selama 4 jam, kompaksi, sintering pada temperatur 700oC selama 4 jam. Sensor oksigen diuji pada temperatur ruang (30oC) dengan melihat karakteristik I-V, sensitivitas, konduktivitas, waktu respon dan karakterisasi XRD. Sensitivitas tertinggi dimiliki oleh sampel 98% mol TiO2 + 2% mol CuO/50% mol ZnO + 50% mol TiO2 yaitu 2,48 pada tegangan 25 volt dengan waktu respon 51 detik. Konduktivitas tertingi dimiliki oleh sampel 90% mol TiO2 + 10% mol CuO/50% mol ZnO + 50% mol TiO2 yaitu 2,31 10-3/Ω.m (σ). Hasil XRD menunjukkan ukuran kristal sampel 98% mol TiO2 + 2% mol CuO/50% mol ZnO + 50% mol TiO2 lebih besar dari pada sampel 100% mol TiO2 + 0% mol CuO/50% mol ZnO + 50% mol TiO2. Pada TiO2 yang didoping 2% mol CuO telah terbentuk senyawa baru CuO.TiO2. Abstract Background: At the molecular level, mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is characterized by the deregulation of Bcl-2 family members (Mcl-1, BIM) and cell cycle (cyclin D1) regulatory proteins. Perhaps related to this, the clinical outcome of MCL continues to be poor specially for those patients with disease progression after high dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell rescue and/or BTK inhibitors, stressing the need to develop novel therapeutic strategies or optimize current available options. Venetoclax (V), a highly selective Bcl-2 inhibitor, has shown modest activity against relapsed/refractory MCL. Over-expression of Mcl-1 has been postulated to be a mechanism of resistance to V limiting its anti-tumor activity in subtypes of lymphoma including MCL. The lethality by proteasome inhibitors (PIs) has been associated with changes in the Bcl-2 family members (Bax, Noxa, Mcl-1 and Bcl-XL) in lymphoma pre-clinical models, making them ideal agents to combine with V. To this end, we studied the anti-tumor activity of combining PIs with V in MCL pre-clinical models. Materials and Methods: A panel cytarabine sensitive (Rec-1, Jeko, Granta, HBL-2, Z-138 and Mino) and resistant (araC) cell lines (Jeko araC, HBL-2 araC, and Mino araC) were exposed to V, Bortezomib (BTZ), carfilzomib (CFZ), or ixazomib (IXZ) for 24, 48 and 72 hours. Cell viability was calculated measuring the ATP content. IC50 drug concentrations were calculated for each agent. Subsequently, MCL cell lines were exposed to escalating doses of V (0.001uM-5uM) and CFZ (1.5625nM-50nM), BTZ (3.125nM-100nM) or IXZ (3.125nM-100nM). In addition, primary tumor cells isolated from B-cell lymphoma patients (N=21) including MCL patients were exposed to V +/- BTZ or CFZ for 48 hrs. Cell viability was determined by Cell Titerglo. Coefficient of synergy were calculated using CalcuSyn software program. Induction of apoptosis was detected by Annexin V/Propidium iodine staining and PARP cleavage. Changes in Bcl-2 and cell cycle regulatory proteins were evaluated by Western blotting in HBL-2 cells. For in vivo experiments, 6-8 weeks old severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mice were inoculated with 10x106 HBL-2 cells via tail vein injection (IV). Subsequently, SCID mice were treated with V (100mg/kg/dose via gastric lavage on days 3-7, 10-14 and 17-21) or IXZ (6mg/kg/dose IV days 3, 6, 10, 13, 17 and 20) or combination of both agents. A group of untreated animals was used as a control. Differences in survival were evaluated between treatment groups. Results: In vitro exposure of MCL cell lines to either V, BTZ, CFZ, and IXZ induced cell death in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Significant synergistic activity was observed by combining both V with CFZ or IXZ at known sub-therapeutic and therapeutic doses of individual agents measured by ATP content and apoptosis potential. Anti-tumor activity was observed in cytarabine sensitive and resistant cell lines. Similar findings were observed in primary tumor cells isolated from B-cell lymphoma patients. In vitro exposure of MCL cell lines with the lowest IC50 (HBL-2) to V and PIs (BTZ, CFZ, or IXZ) resulted in the upregulation of Noxa, BIM, Mcl-1 cleavage form (pro-apoptotic) and downregulation of Bcl-XL leading to PARP cleavage and apoptosis. In vivo treatment of MCL bearing SCID mice with V resulted in significant anti-tumor activity when compared to single agent IXZ treated or control animals. Of interest, MCL bearing SCID animals treated with V and IXZ exhibited a better disease control and the survival was longer than SCID animals treated with V or IXZ single agent (P<0.05). Conclusion: Our data suggests that V exhibits strong synergistic activity with PIs, especially with CFZ (in vitro) or IXZ (in vitro and in vivo). Together, our data supports the evaluation of V in combination with readily available novel PIs (IXZ or CFZ) in relapsed/refractory MCL. PURPOSE c-mpl, the human homolog of v-mpl, is the receptor for thrombopoietin. Given that c-mpl expression carries an adverse prognosis in myelodysplastic syndrome and given the prognostic significance of expression of other growth factor receptors in other diseases, we attempted to determine whether c-mp/mRNA expression is a prognostic factor in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). PATIENTS AND METHODS We analyzed bone marrow samples from 45 newly diagnosed AML patients by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS Samples from 27 patients (60%) expressed c-mpl mRNA (c-mpl+); their clinical and laboratory features were compared with those of the 18 patients without detectable levels of c-mpl(c-mpl-). No significant differences in age, sex, leukocyte count, French-American-British subtype, or karyotype group were found. c-mpl+ patients more commonly had secondary AML (41% v 11%; P = .046) and more commonly expressed CD34 (67% v 12%; P = .0004). There was no significant difference in complete remission (CR) rate. However, c-mpl+ patients had shorter CR durations (P = .008; median, 6.0 v > 17.0 months). This was true when only de novo AML patients were considered and when controlling for age, cytogenetics, or CD34 expression. There was a trend toward shorter survival in c-mpl+ patients (P = .058; median, 7.8 v 9.0 months). CONCLUSION These data suggest that c-mpl expression is an adverse prognostic factor for treatment outcome in adult AML that must be considered in the analysis of clinical studies using thrombopoietin in AML.

In vitro seedling offspring of Plantago camtschatica Link was investigated regarding induction of somatic embryogenesis in petiole/leaf explants from shoot tissue and shoot proliferation. The aim of study was to investigate the medium supplemented with suitable concentration of plant growth regulators in order to induce somatic embryogenesis, plant regeneration and shoot multiplication. The results showed that: (i) Petiole/young leaf of immature stem induced the highest ratio of calli induction and compact calli formation on MS medium supplemented with 1 mgL-1 2,4-D and 0.5 mgL-1 BA; (ii) From created calli, somatic embryogenesis could be induced on MS medium supplemented with 1 mgL-1 TDZ or 1 mgL-1 TDZ and 0.5 mgL-1 NAA; (iii) MS medium supplemented with 5-7 mgL-1 BA shown the most effective on shoot development stage; (iv) Rooting of shoot was the best on 1/2 solid MS medium with activated charcoal (2 gL-1), and 0.5-4 mgL-1 NAA; and (v) acclimatization of micropropagated plants could be planted in plastic pots containing a mixture of decayed straw : rice husk ashes, (1:1, v/v), sand : soil (1:1, v/v) or soil, showed a high survival rate and most seedlings grew normally.

Proses pembuatan sensor gas hidrogen diawali dengan pencampuran bahan, kalsinasi pada temperatur 500°C selama 4 jam, penggerusan, kompaksi, dan sintering pada temperatur 700°C selama 4 jam dengan menggunakan metode dalam keadaan padat. Sensor gas hidrogen diuji pada temperatur ruang dengan pengukuran karakteristik I-V, nilai sensitivitas, konduktivitas, selektivitas, waktu respon, dan karakterisasi XRD. Berdasarkan pengukuran karakteristik I-V menunjukkan bahwa bahan dengan komposisi SnO2/TiO2 (2% mol Na2CO3) memiliki sensitivitas tertinggi yaitu 5pada tegangan operasional 6 Volt. Nilai selektivitas tertinggi terdapat pada bahan dengan komposisi SnO2/TiO2 (2% mol Na2CO3) yaitu 3,5 pada tegangan operasional 18 V. Nilai konduktivitas tertinggi terdapat pada bahan dengan komposisiSnO2/TiO2 (2% mol Na2CO3) yaitu 6,01 x 10-3 / Ωm pada lingkungan hidrogen. Waktu respon bahan dengan komposisi SnO2/TiO2 (2% mol Na2CO3) pada gas hidrogen yaitu 39 sekon dan untuk gas oksigen yaitu 42 sekon pada tegangan operasional 6 V. Hasil XRD menunjukkan bahwa bahan dengan komposisi SnO2/TiO2 didoping dengan Na2CO3 mempunyai ukuran kristal antara 113,131 nm- 141,615 nm. Nilai konduktivitas tertinggi dimiliki sampel CuO/ZnO(4% mol TiO2) dengan nilai konduktivitas di udara 2,14x10-5 /Ωm dan nilai konduktivitas pada lingkungan hidrogen adalah 2,76x10-5 /Ωm. Activation volumes (Δ V‡) in 1.0 and 0.01 M HCl respectively were + 12.5(�0.7) and + 15.5(�0.5) cm3 mol-1 for R2 = 4,4′-dimethyl, + 12.7(�0.6) and + 16.9(�0.6) cm3 mol-1 for R2 = 4,4′-diethyl, and + 13.7(�0.5) and + 17.4(�0.8) cm3 mol-1 for R2 = 5,5′-dimethyl. The methanol solvolysis of Fe( phen )32+ ( phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) in the presence of 0.1 M HOSO2CF3 yielded Δ H‡ 120(�2) kJ mol-1, ΔS‡ +72(�5) J K-1 mol-1 and Δ V‡ + 14.1(�0.2) cm3 mol-1. The Δ V‡ values differ little for a range of unsubstituted and substituted bipyridine and phenanthroline complexes of iron(II), nor does the value for Fe( phen )32+ vary with solvent. These observations are further evidence for a mechanism involving a significant positive contribution to Δ V‡ from a low-spin ↔ high-spin preequilibrium operating.

Abstract:
Telah dilakukan karakterisasi sensor Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) berupa pelet heterokontak dengan lapisan pertama pelet adalah 100% mol CuO dan lapisan kedua pelet adalah CuO yang dicampur 10% mol, 20% mol, 30% mol, 40% mol dan 50% mol TiO2. Tahap pembuatan sensor LPG terdiri atas pencampuran bahan, kalsinasi pada temperatur 500oC selama 4 jam, penggerusan, kompaksi, dan sintering pada temperatur 700oC selama 4 jam. Sensor LPG diuji pada temperatur ruang (27oC) dengan melihat karakteristik arus dan tegangan (I-V), nilai sensitivitas, nilai konduktivitas dan karakterisasi XRD. Karakteristik I-V menunjukkan perubahan terbesar terjadi pada sampel CuO/CuO(20% mol TiO2). Nilai sensitivitas tertinggi dimiliki sampel CuO/CuO(20% mol TiO2) sebesar 11,94 pada tegangan 10 volt, dan merupakan sampel yang paling bagus digunakan sebagai sensor gas LPG. Nilai konduktivitas tertinggi dimiliki sampel CuO/CuO(10% mol TiO2) dengan nilai konduktivitas di udara sebesar 6,60557x10-5 Ω-1m-1 dan nilai konduktivitas di LPG 25,80712x10-5 Ω-1m-1. Abstract:
PURPOSE To compare mantle-cell lymphomas (MCLs) and follicle-center lymphomas (FCLs) for their features of clinical presentation, response to chemotherapy, and prognosis on the basis of a prospective randomized clinical trial. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with MCL and FCL who entered onto the prospective randomized comparison of cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and prednisone (COP) versus prednimustine and mitoxantrone (PmM) followed by a second randomization for interferon (IFN) maintenance versus observation only. RESULTS One hundred sixty-five of 234 patients had FCL and 45 of 234 patients had MCL. With FCL, both sexes were equally affected (men, 47%); patients with MCL were predominantly men (78%; P < .0004) and had a higher median age (64 v 53 years; P < .0001). Patients with MCL also had more widespread disease, reflected by the proportion of patients with two or greater extranodal manifestations (43% v 21%; P < .005) and nine or greater involved nodal areas (64% v 45%; nonsignificant [NS]). Response to chemotherapy was significantly lower in patients with MCL (complete remission [CR] + partial remission [PR], 69% v 88%; P < .05) and occurred at a slower pace. Patients with MCL also had a shorter event-free interval (median, 8 v 24 months; P < .0001) and overall survival (median, 28 v 77 months; P < .0001). In both subtypes, however, patients with less than two residual lymphoma manifestations in remission experienced a relatively good prognosis with an estimated 5-year survival of greater than 60% for MCL and greater than 75% for FCL. CONCLUSION MCL and FCL differ substantially in their features of presentation, response to chemotherapy, and long-term prognosis. The extent of residual disease after completion of chemotherapy discriminates patients with different prognosis and may be used for the stratification of postremission strategies.

This study employs fluorescence spectroscopy to characterize the binding properties of a newly synthesized cardiac agent, V-09, on bovine serum albumin (BSA). This compound shows the highest cardiac activity in the whole series. The binding constantsKat 25°C and 37°C are obtained, the values are 7.12×104l mol–1, 4.66×104l mol–1, respectively. The standard enthalpy change (ΔH0) and the standard entropy change (ΔS0) are calculated to be –27.13 KJ mol–1and 1.854 J mol–1K–1, which indicated that hydrophobic forces play major role in the interaction between V-09 and BSA. The binding average distance between V-09 and BSA (2.57 nm) is obtained on the basis of the theory of Főrster energy transfer.

Abstract:
The effects of biweekly intravenous injections of Staphylococcus Enterotoxin B (SEB) into autoimmune MRL-lpr/lpr (MRL/lpr) mice were investigated. Rather than causing the expansion of V beta 8+ T cells, SEB administration resulted in the reduction V beta 8+, CD4-CD8- "double-negative" (DN) T cells. This was shown by FACS analysis as this putative pathogenic population was diminished in both spleen and lymph node. The symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in MRL/lpr, which include high titers of anti-DNA antibodies and circulating immune complexes and proteinuria, were reduced in SEB-treated mice in a dose-dependent manner. The clinical parameters of SLE in MRL/lpr, which include lymph node hyperplasia and necrotic vasculitis, were suppressed in 50-micrograms SEB-treated mice. T cells bearing V beta 6 T cell receptor, which does not interact with SEB, were not reduced with SEB administration. Thus, disease suppression was associated with a specific reduction in the number of V beta 8+, DN T cells. These results implicate a possible therapeutic role of superantigen-based immunotherapy in V beta-restricted, T cell-dominated clinical syndromes.
