The multi-frontal solver is used for solving systems of linear equations created by finite element method. The multi-frontal solver is controlled by so-called ordering. The quality of ordering influences hardly the solver effectiveness. In our approach, the finite element mesh is represented by means of a hypergraph and corresponding element partition tree. The finite element operations like mesh generation or h-adaptation are modelled by graph grammar production. Addition

The results show that 1/2 fractional frequency components appear in slight rub-impact stage; 1/3 fractional frequency components appear in moderate rub-impact stage and 1/4 fractional frequency components appear in serious rub-impact stage. With the increasing demand for VBNS and VDSL, the development of the kernel parts of optical communication such as PLC(Planar Light Circuit), Coupler, and WDM elements has increased. The optical transmitter and the receiver module need precise and mechanical alignment within a few micrometers to couple the semiconductor device, optical fiber and waveguide. The alignment and the attachment technology are very important in the fabrication of an optical element. Presently, the alignment of the optical element is time consuming, and an effective alignment algorithm has not yet to be developed. In

Multi-Roll Stretch forming process is a new flexible process which is used for forming hyperbolic-degree surface pieces. Using the Multi-point flexible floating clamping system, the metal sheet can be more easily formed, and the flexibility can be much higher, which the ordinary floating clamping cannot have. A series of finite element simulations and experiments have been done for the process of forming saddle-shaped parts using Multi-Point flexible floating clamping system, and ordinary floating clamping system. The results show that the quality of the part formed using flexible floating cla

Typically, multi-single-element photoacoustic computed tomography (PACT) systems utilize numerous ultrasound transducers arranged in cylindrical or hemispherical configurations for detection, combined with a single diffuse light source or multiple sparse light sources to illuminate the imaging target. While these systems produce high-quality 3D PA images, they require complex, multi-channel data acquisition (DAQ) systems to acquire data from all transducers. These DAQ systems are often bulky and expensive, significantly limiting the clinical translation of PACT systems for patient care. In thi

This work outlines the optimization algorithms involved in integrating system analysis and measured data collected from a network of sensors. The integration is required for structural health monitoring problems arising in structural dynamics and related to (1) model parameter estimation used for finite element model updating, (2) model-based damage detection in structures and (3) optimal sensor location for parameter estimation and damage detection. These problems are formulated as single- and multi-objective optimization problems of continuous or discrete-valued variables. Gradient-based, ev
