Abstract:
Pineapple is one of the economically important fruits in Chiang Rai Province but few studies have been carried out on fungal saprobes on this plant. During a survey of fungal saprobes on pineapple, several dead leaves covered by hyphomycetous fungi with effuse colonies, dark brown to black on the host substrate were collected. Phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, and TEF1-α sequence data revealed that our fungal collections are members of Periconia. Based on morphological comparisons and multi-locus phylogeny we introduce a new species (Periconia ananasi sp. nov.) and a new host an

Abstract:
In this study, morphological and molecular analyses of three newly collected saddle-like fungi confirm their classification within the genus Helvella L. from the eastern Türkiye. A three-locus phylogeny was constructed using the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, the translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF1-α), and the large subunit (LSU) of the ribosomal RNA gene. Phylogenetic analyses were performed using Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Bayesian Inference (BI) approaches. The phylogeny inferred from the concatenated dataset revealed three distinct clades. Dothiorella has cosmopolitan species and a wide range of hosts as endophytes, saprobes, and pathogens. Many species have been introduced solely based on their host association, resulting in misidentification. This study describes a novel species, Dothiorella saprophytica sp. nov., a sexual morph of Dothiorella, from Chiang Mai, Thailand using multi-locus phylogeny (ITS + tef1-α + β-tub) and morphological characters. Detailed morphology and multi-locus phylogeny are provided to give more insights into the diversity and taxonomy of this genus. Dothiorella saprophytica is characterized by its sex

Although high genetic diversity has been previously revealed, a further systematic taxonomic re-examination with a more comprehensive taxon sampling is still largely unexplored.
