Lot streaming is splitting a job-lot of identical items into several sublots (portions of a lot) that can be moved to the next machines upon completion so that operations on successive machines can be overlapped; hence, the overall performance of a multi-stage manufacturing environment can be improved. In this study, we consider a scheduling problem with lot streaming in a two-machine re-entrant flow shop in which each job-lot is processed first on Machine 1, then goes to Machine 2 for its second operation before it returns to the primary machine (either Machine 1 or Machine 2) for the third o

The optimization technique is introduced to overcome the problem. Here the author introduces multi-criteria decision-making technique to get the optimization value. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) in nontraditional machining process is applied for machining complicated or intricate geometries on raw materials. The present work attempts to optimize several responses of machining operation using multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) by employing different machining parameters like current, voltage, pulse. The Taguchi L9 orthogonal experimental design is followed during electrical discharge machining of AISI P20 tool steel. Four responses, namely metal removal rate, tool life, surface roughness, and over cut, are considered for optimization. The present work is aimed at multi-response optimization (i.e., higher MRR, higher tool life, lower surface roughness, and minimum overcut), which is conducted using MCDM technique.

A study and survey of the characteristics of each of the protocols was carried out, as well as the method of operation of each of them and how both can be used in applications involving multiple robots. It was concluded that both protocols are considered ideal for use in in applications involving multi-robot systems. However, although the two protocols have been designed for application in environments with limited communication, the MQTT exchange protocol has advantages over CoAP, as a lower ovehead between message exchanges.

Abstract:
With the continuous expansion of the scale of optical communication network and the rapid increase of network traffic demand, the management form of multi-domain optical network has widely existed. OSNR is an important indicator to judge the quality of communication. It is very important to predict OSNR more accurately in a low-cost and energy-saving way in multi-domain optical networks. In this paper, a scheme of federal learning in multi-domain optical networks is proposed to improve the accuracy of the OSNR prediction. The main idea is to train hybrid machine learning model in each single domain, then the strategy of federal learning is used for optimization it in multi-domains. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation experiments. The strategy can alleviate the problems of data silos and model training set caused by multi-domain optical network. According to simulation result, when the amount of data reaches 5×103, adding this strategy will reduce the mean square error of the prediction model by about 18%. It can improve the performance of machine learning model, the ability of OSNR prediction and the reliability of network operation.

This has become especially important in the context of the strategy Industry 4.0, wherein information technology, telecommunications, and manufacturing are united when the means of production are becoming more independent. This also applies to hydraulic fluid, an important component of most heavy machinery. Scheduling is one of the most important problems in production planning systems. It is a decision-making process that plays a crucial role in many Industries. Different scheduling environments were addressed in the literature. Among them Flexible job-shop problem (FJSP) is an important one and it is an extension of the classical JSP that allows one operation which can be processed on one machine out of a set of alternative machines. It is closer to the real manufacturing situation. Because of the additional needs to determine the assignment of operations on the machines, FJSP is more complex than JSP, and incorporates all the difficulties and complexities of JSP. This chapter addresses a hybrid genetic scatter search algorithm for solving multi-objective FJSP. Makespan and flow time are the objective functions considered in this chapter. The computational results prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for solving flexible job-shop scheduling problem.
