Abstract:
In this paper, different 3D seismic attributes calculated to improve the accuracy and robustness of structural interpretations in several energy-rich Australian basins are compared. Detailed and precise fault and fracture maps are crucial not only for initial petroleum play assessment, but also for fault seal analysis and reservoir integrity studies. Robust fault and fracture models are also needed to improve the design of reservoir simulation programs and to manage the long-term containment of gas in geological formations. Different attributes (including coherency, dip-steered similarity, dip-steered median filter, dip-steered variance, apparent dip, and dip-steered most-positive and most-negative curvatures) from an array of 3D seismic datasets to better image structural fabrics, such as normal and different fractures patterns, in the North Perth, Cooper, Ceduna, Otway and Gippsland basins have been calculated. The results provide a remarkable improvement in the quality and precision of structural maps using this multi-attribute mapping workflow by comparison with more conventional maps produced, solely using seismic amplitude data. The key to the successful application of multi-attribute structural analysis, however, remains with the ability of the interpreter to identify meaningful structural information from a large volume of data. Thus, the structural expertise of the interpreter remains as the cornerstone to making geological sense of the various seismic processing techniques available.

Abstract:
Based on the principle of the control of magnetic field on arc spot motion, a compact and multi-function magnetic field steered arc source has been designed in this paper. The rotating magnetic field generator driven by small DC motors or AC motors has been also equipped behind the base of the target materials of magnetic field steered arc source. The magnet yoke fixed on shaft will be driven by the motors so as to promote the rotation of permanent magnets which are rationally distributed on magnet yoke. The different distribution of permanent magnets will produce the rotating magnetic field with different configuration structures and then the purpose of multi-control mode can be achieved. Meanwhile, the dynamic rotating magnetic field with different configurations have been also produced in this design through employing the simple and compact arc source as well as the permanent magnet with different distributions in order to improve the discharge form of arc spots, control the trajectory of arc spots, improve the utilization of target materials and the uniformity of etching as well as reduce or inhibit the emission of large particles. At the same time, the high-quality film can be also prepared so as to realize the arc spot control with various forms in an arc source, satisfy the different demands and expand the application of arc ion plating.

Abstract:
Four wheel steering (4WS) is a concept proven to be beneficial in low speed applications requiring large steering angles, which is the case in city traffic or parking. By steering the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front ones, maneuverability can be improved. However, a conflict is encountered at high speeds for all the steering strategies developed. If sharper response is achieved, this is at the expense of undesirably large vehicle sideslip angles. On the other hand, small vehicle sideslip angles are associated with heavy understeering behavior. It is not possible to improve both simultaneously in case of two-axle 4WS vehicles. The object of this study is the simulation of various steering configurations for multi-axle vehicles in an attempt to find a means of solving the problem of 4WS and to determine the best steering strategy. In addition to two-axle vehicles which have been extensively studied in literature, three- and four-axle vehicles are taken into consideration. By extending the strategies used for 4WS two-axle vehicles, new strategies are established for three and four-axle vehicles. An integrated non-linear ride and handling model in Matlab &
Simulink environment considering sprung and unsprung mass motions, wheel and tire dynamics, is used for simulations. It is shown by case studies that, with the application of the derived strategies for three and fouraxle vehicles, lateral acceleration and yaw velocity responses can be improved without degrading vehicle sideslip angle.

Abstract:
Mechanical Engineering

Collagen is the most abundant protein in mammals and has special mechanical behavior that enables it to play an important role in the structural integrity of many tissues, e.g., skin, tendon, bone, cartilage and blood vessels. The mechanical properties of collagen are governed by hierarchical mechanisms in different length-scales from molecule to tissue level. Currently, there is no multi-scale model that can predict the mechanical properties of collagen at macroscopic length scales from the behavior of microstructural elements at smaller length scales. This dissertation aimed at developing a multi-scale model using a bottom-up approach to predict the elastic and viscoelastic behaviors of collagen at length scales spanning from nano to microscale. Creep simulations were performed using steered molecular dynamics (SMD) method on collagen molecules, cross-link, and micro-fibrils with various lengths. A micro-fibril is considered as a combination of two collagen molecules connected by a cross-link. The strain time histories for force levels in the range of 10 to 4000 pN were characterized using quasilinear viscoelastic models. These models were utilized to make a reduced model of a micro-fibril and the reduced models, in turn, were combined to make a model of a fibril up to 300 micrometers in length. The micro-fibril and fibril models were validated with available experimental measurements. Hydrogen bonds rupture and formation of collagen molecule played a central role in its viscoelastic behavior and were used to estimate the creep growth rate. The propagation of force wave in the molecule was shown to be an important factor in providing the time-dependent properties of the fibrils. This propagation was modeled with delay elements and this allowed reducing the micro-fibril model to only three degrees of freedom. In conclusion, the results confirmed that the combination of molecular dynamics simulations and viscoelastic theory could be successfully utilized to investigate the viscoelastic behavior of collagen at small scales. The model reported in this dissertation, lays the groundwork for future studies on collagen, particularly in elucidating how each particular level of hierarchy affects the overall tissue behavior.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reports on a co-creation project that was conducted in the city district Bremen Hemelingen. A core group of seven local service providers steered the process in which 46 older residents participated. One of the tasks of social care service providers is to organise outdoor activities for older residents (also to facilitate social participation). To support their work, this co-creation project resulted in a digital walking guide that provides multi-media information on walks in different parts of the district. The walks were defined and organised by social care service providers as well as individual older residents. Older participants defined relevant information needs. A core group of five older residents defined design requirements and created content for the digital walking guide. The chapter describes different kinds of co-creation walking methods such as ideation walks, data walks and user test walks. It concludes with lessons learned.
