The equivocal and debated findings from a 2007 meta–analysis, which viewed perfectionism as a unidimensional construct, suggested that perfectionism was unrelated to procrastination. The present meta–analysis aimed to provide a conceptual update and reanalysis of the procrastination–perfectionism association guided by both a multidimensional view of perfectionism and self–regulation theory. The random–effects meta–analyses revealed a small to medium positive average effect size ( r = .23; k = 43, N = 10 000; 95% confidence interval (95% CI) [0.19, 0.27]) for trait procrastination and perfectio

Another purpose was to examine the relationship between students’ self-determination and their academic motivation. The sample consisted of 300 senior high school students from 5 selected schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The data was collected using a self-reported of 21-item questionnaire measuring students’ self-determination and academic motivation. Background: Chronic tinnitus (phantom perception of sound) significantly disrupts quality of life in 15–20% of those who experience it. Understanding how certain personality traits impact tinnitus perception and distress can be beneficial for the development of interventions to improve the lives of tinnitus sufferers. Purpose: Four key self-reported personality traits (social closeness, stress reaction, alienation, and self-control) were identified from previous research as being associated with tinnitus. These were compared between tinnitus and age-, gender-, and hearing level-matched nontinn

Abstract BACKGROUND: Noise sensitivity (NS) is a key construct in the fields of hygiene, planning and occupational medicine. It refers to a personality trait representing the reactivity to noise and is associated with various psycho-physiological health outcomes. AIM: This study aimed to develop a shorter version of the original Noise Sensitivity Questionnaire (NoiSeQ), retaining its dimensions and assess its validity and reliability. METHODS: A test-retest study was carried out in a convenience sample of 56 participants. A short 15-item form of the original NoiSeQ (NoiSeQSF) questionnaire was

Abstract. The present paper features the adaptation of an existing Big Five questionnaire with a rating scale (RS) response format into a measure using a multidimensional forced choice (MFC) response format. Rating scale response formats have been criticized for their proneness to intentional and unintentional response distortions. Multidimensional forced choice response formats were suggested as a solution to mitigate several types of response sets and response styles by design. A notable uptick of interest in the stability of self–esteem has been observed over the past few years. Most researchers, however, have focused on unidimensional rather than multidimensional conceptualizations of self–esteem. The paucity of empirical research is surprising given conflicting theoretical perspectives on the stability of self–esteem. The goal of the present study was to thoroughly disentangle different conceptualizations of self–esteem and test opposing classical theories on (i) the stability and (ii) the direction of mutual influence of these different forms of self–esteem. A growing body of studies has shed new light on the neural structure of this reward system. In this paper, we discuss the significance of these studies from the perspective of a neuropsychological theory of personality, namely the Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory (RST). RST assumes that variation in sensitivity/reactivity of the reward system is the cause of individual differences in approach motivation (e.g. desire or need for achievement, persistence, and
