Abstract:
Multilocation audits (MLAs) pose unusual risks for external auditors. Recent lawsuits against auditors manifest these risks. Despite the complexity and risk, there is little existing research and/or professional guidance that address MLA issues. This sparsity is especially surprising given that most companies of medium and large size conduct business activities in multiple locations. The purpose of this paper is to identify risks that exist in a MLA environment that do not necessarily exist in a single-location audit. The MLA risk framework was developed by 1) identifying risk factors specific to MLAs that we believe are important in audit planning, 2) evaluating the risk factors through interviews with MLA experts, 3) examining the policy and procedure manuals of public accounting firms, and 4) relating the risk factors to the audit risk model. The paper is intended to provide a framework for future research related to MLAs.

Abstract:
Purpose – During the last decade the demand to comprehend the overarching success factors of the multilocation process in distant countries such as China has increased significantly. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to explore and understand the nature and scope of the collaboration between the public support services (PSS) in China and the Spanish enterprises which decided to be multilocated there. Design/methodology/approach – The present study examines the necessity of the PSS in China by employing a review of literature as well as both quantitative and qualitative surveys from 31 Spanish companies multilocated in China. Findings – The main conclusions highlight the fact that the PSS do not seem to have a big and homogenous influence on the multilocation process, although those companies with higher levels of commitment that have been operating in China for a longer time have used it more frequently. Originality/value – While other studies of multilocation have isolated the companies from their host environment, the aim of this paper is to evaluate the weak links between the PSS and companies in a culturally and psychically distant market. By providing an insight into the dynamics of how firms interact and collaborate with the PSS, this study contributes to guiding policy makers and managers in designing and implementing strategies to support enterprises in the multilocation process in China.

碩士
國立高雄大學
電機工程學系碩士班
98
Owing to NCC (National Communication Commission) with under the ITSPs (Internet Telephony Service Providers) gave fresh impetus to the VoIP. Nowadays more and more people and enterprises have the benefit of VoIP. Many business companies are established in different locations. These companies require the reduction of costs and labor in order to run branch offices in lots of areas. Therefore the first scenario of enterprise’s applications is VoIP system for Multi-Location application. However there are some issues in the scenarios of enterprise’s applications. Causing the numerous of users, the number of IPPBX is very large. In this numerous IPPBX, how to let them work together and how to setup and management are a very impartment issues. Although there are some solutions to solve these issues, but there will be induced some defects. Such as the complex setup way, the insufficient for system reliability and scalability and maintains. According to these issues, we propose a VoIP system for Multi-Location application in this paper. We use it to solve the problems of scalability and reliability by modify the system architecture to fully distributed. We also are using the call routing discovery functions to accomplish the communication across IPPBX.

Abstract:
This article discusses the use of Bayesian methods in analysing data that evolve over time in sequential multilocation auditing. Using the New York food stamps program as a case study, it proposes a model that incorporates a nonparametric component for the error magnitudes (taints), a hierarchical model for overall error rates across counties and parameters controlling the variation of rates from one year to the next, including an overall trend in error rates. The article first provides an overview of the New York food stamps program, along with the auditing concepts and terminology, before introducing the Bayesian model. This model is used to examine a sample of individual awards of food stamps to see if the value awarded is correct according to the rules of the scheme. The model makes it possible to smooth estimation of error rates and error classes in small counties across counties and through time.

Abstract:
AbstractFor more than a century, breeding has delivered huge benefits as a major driver of increased wheat productivity and of stability in the face of inevitable disease threats. Thus, the real cost of this staple grain has been reduced for billions of consumers. Steady breeding progress has been seen across many important traits of wheat, currently for potential yield averaging about 0.6% p.a. This yield progress continues to rely of extensive multilocational yield testing but has, however, become more difficult, even as new breeding techniques have improved efficiency. Breeding will continue to evolve as new approaches, being proposed with increasing frequency, are tested and found useful or not. High throughput phenotyping (HTPP), applying modern crop physiology, and molecular markers and genomic selection (GS) are in this phase right now. Such new techniques, along with pre-breeding for new traits, will likely play a larger role in this future improvement of wheat. New tools will also include genetic engineering (GE), as society’s need for its benefits become more urgent. The steady privatization of breeding seems unlikely to cease in the developed world but will continue to struggle elsewhere. It would seem wise, however, that a significant portion of the world’s pre-breeding research remains in the public sector, while maintaining close and equitable contact with those delivering new varieties.

Abstract:
Abstract Implementing industrial scale technology and easily adoptable solutions in the field of Virtual Reality has been challenging for the energy industry. Designing and developing a solution to unlock the capability of engineers virtually meeting each other in 1:1 scale digital plant and executing a high-fidelity design review to make sure the design meets specified requirements and address any potential issues before release is the goal of this new technology development project. This project is a cross functional team effort including experts from plant design, project engineering, installation & service engineering, quality, cyber security, enterprise architect and enterprise CAD systems. Well detailed Technology development roadmap and technology adoptability strategy was prepared defining the success criteria and validation of value proposition. The solution developed is a four-step process; 1) Data preparation 2) Data publish to server 3) Design review execution 4) Report generation. During data preparation phase project engineer will gather inputs for design review like 3D model, checklist, documents, team list and project information. This data is published to a cloud-based server using a web portal and CAD plugins without any data loss. Project engineer will then set up a 3D design review meeting and invite required attendees using the same solution. With this solution engineers located globally can join the virtual meeting with just one click using virtual reality headset and all participants can access the data published depending on access granted to them. The participants can virtually meet and discuss through representation of their avatars in real time and can perform the plant design review in 1:1 scale with high quality 3D visualization. Participants in the meeting can collaboratively simulate installation and maintenance sequence, check accessibility, measure dimensions and capture comments if any to make changes to design. The solution will automatically generate the report out and list of actions from the review. More than 150 engineers from about 10 industrial energy companies had the opportunity to test and use this solution. Many functionalities providing immersive user experience for industrial use cases were explored pushing the limits of VR. It was observed that we can reduce 50% of cost of quality related to field modifications. Further we can reduce 50% engineering 3D model rework by early identification of clashes in the model. This solution can also lead to 30% reduction in travel costs by adopting virtual meeting instead of physical meeting, eventually reducing CO2. It was concluded that design review performed in a virtual immersive environment, significantly improved the ability to ensure a flawless design that meets all the requirements and significantly improve the ability to communicate the design intent. As the organizations are moving towards more digital product and plant design, 3D models enriched with process, material, design information interlinked with various product life cycle management systems, makes use of virtual simulation tools inevitable. Further data captured from real operation of the plant can be used to optimize and improve various key elements by integrating with these 3D models moving to the real digital twin.

Abstract:
Abstract The precise and continuous measurement of reactor core temperature is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of light water reactors. Current sensor technologies are limited in their capabilities for continuous monitoring, linearity, and multilocation detection. Magnetostrictive materials, which deform in response to magnetic fields or exhibit magnetization variation when stressed, offer a promising solution through ultrasonic waveguide thermometers. This study prototyped a high-temperature and radiation-tolerant UT consisting of a solenoid and a Galfenol waveguide, and quantified its performance as a thermometer up to 300 °C. The impact of waveguide diameter, ambient temperature, and thermal treatment on UT performance was then thoroughly assessed. Galfenol waveguides with diameters of 0.5 mm, 0.8 mm, and 1.0 mm showed uniform temperature-dependent behavior with minimal hysteresis error when cycled between RT and 300 °C. The acoustic attenuation coefficient decreased with increasing wire diameter, likely due to the combined effects of eddy currents and magneto-mechanical energy conversion. Although thermal annealing at 900 °C for an hour in a nitrogen environment caused significant surface damage to the waveguides, it effectively relieved internal stress, thus minimizing the nonlinearity in the acoustic attenuation coefficient.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION Cambodia’s exports of goods and services outpaced the country’s economic growth and outperformed global export growth over the past years. Exports of goods and services increased dramatically during the past years, from about US$4.2 billion in 2009 to US$14.7 billion in 2019 (O’Neill, 2021). The solid export growth resulted in improved livelihoods for Cambodian households. Trade is a medium for productivity led growth in a small economy like Cambodia. It gives companies access to wider markets and boosts foreign direct investment. But the COVID-19 pandemic had badly affected the freight forwarding services in Cambodia, and particularly logistics firms, which are involved in the movement, storage, and flow of goods, have been directly affected by the global pandemic. For Cambodia, there was no remarkable gains in freight transport in the early 2020. According to the Cambodia Freight Forwarders Association (CFFA), COVID-19 pandemic has seriously hurt Cambodian logistic providers, with 10-15 percent will soon be bankrupt (VietnamPlus, 2020). As stated by the president of CFFA, “the dramatic decrease in buying orders led the traffic of goods and product exports to drop about 70-80 percent. In addition, more than 100 logistics firms have been struggling to survive due to the financial hardship, with an estimated 60 percent fall in revenue” (VietnamPlus, 2020). Logistics companies connect firms to markets by providing many different services, including transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing and inventory management. They play an important role in global manufacturing, which is complex and multilocational. For example, Apple inc. uses the components from more than 200 supplicrs from many different countries (Ross, 2020). ‘L’oday’s global value chain requires uninterrupted flow of goods between and within the countries. These can be achieved by firms outsourcing their logistics functions to third-party logistics service providers.
