Abstract:
Multimedia information has been extensively growing from a variety of sources such as cameras or video recorders. In order to select the useful multimedia objects, multimedia recommender system has been emerging as a tool to help users choose which multimedia objects might be interesting for them. However, given the complexity of multimedia objects, it is challenging to provide effective multimedia recommendations. In this paper, we therefore conduct a survey in both the multimedia information system and recommender system communities. We further focus on the works that span the two communities, especially the research on multimedia recommender systems. Based on our review, we propose a set of research challenges, which can be used to implicate the future research directions for multimedia recommender systems. For each research challenge, we have also provided the insights of how to perform the follow-up research.

Abstract:
In order to study the special production, distribution, transportation, and sales of short-lived and short-lived multimedia products, this paper studies the cost and benefit optimization of a three-level supply chain network consisting of a supplier-producer-distribution center. Simultaneously, to effectively describe the actual inventory level of the retailer’s multimedia products, this paper introduces a new nonlinear function to define the real-time inventory of multimedia products to establish a biobjective nonlinear mixed-integer programming model to estimate the inventory. The research results show that the model established in this paper can not only provide the overall cost and optimal decision-making plan for the short-lived dairy supply chain but also the design method is better than the standard constraint method. Relevant research results have important potential guiding significance for research and design of supply chain network structure, measurement of multimedia product inventory levels, and improvement of customer satisfaction. The optimized design of the logistics supply chain of multimedia products with short life cycle under the background of new retail is beneficial.

Abstract:
Despite the wide usage of multimedia in several applications, research in the field of olfaction is immature in helping humans work and communicate through multi-sensory interfaces, including smell. There is no consistent method of testing user capability of smell. Therefore, smell detection and generation systems are not well integrated into today’s multimedia systems. In this paper, the authors propose an odor sensing system with the capability of the discrimination among closely similar 20 different odor patterns and propose an on-line classification method using a handheld odor meter (OMX-GR sensor) and neural network that can be used in different multimedia applications. The proposed system is integrated to enhance the functionality of an online multimedia shopping system that is capable of selling products with visual and auditory senses.

Abstract:
This paper describes ongoing research directed at formulating a set of appropriate measures for assessing and ultimately predicting effort requirements for multimedia systems development. Whilst significant advances have been made in the determination of measures for both transaction-based and process-intensive systems, very little work has been undertaken in relation to measures for multimedia systems. A small preliminary empirical study is reviewed as a precursor to a more exploratory investigation of the factors that are considered by industry to be influential in determining development effort. This work incorporates the development and use of a goal-based framework to assist the measure selection process from a literature basis, followed by an industry questionnaire. The results provide a number of preliminary but nevertheless useful insights into contemporary project management practices with respect to multimedia systems.

Abstract:
The performance indicators corporate multi-service networks based on the architectural concept of the following Next Generation Network (NGN) and Future Networks (FN) using a number of innovative technologies are considered. A significant difference between such networks and previous generation networks is that the architecture of future networks is based on technologies software defined networks, virtualization network functions and the multimedia communications subsystem. As a criterion for complex performance indicators corporate multiservice networks, we selected throughput, the coefficient effective use hardware and software systems, various resources, and probability-time characteristics. As a result of the study, a method for calculating the complex throughput indicators corporate multiservice networks based on the architectural concept NGN and FN using SDN (Software Defined Networking), NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) and IMS (Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem) technologies is proposed. Th essence of the new method is to find relationships with which you can calculate the maximum throughput of the communication network and the areas feasible solutions of the basic equation that belong to it. System and technical analysis showed that the transmitted heterogeneous traffic has a special structure – self-similarity properties (scale invariance) and a quantitative assessment of the degree traffic self-similarity using the Hurst parameter. Based on the proposed calculation method, the complex indicators of corporate multiservice networks are examined taking into account the parameters traffic self-similarity, QoS (Quality of Service) and QoE (Quality of Experience). Resource management methods in network nodes were studied to improve the throughput characteristics taking into account the numerous QoS & QoE parameters and the coefficient effective use hardware and software systems was determined. Based on the calculation method, analytical expressions have been obtained to evaluate the complex indicators corporate multiservice networks in establishing connections and in providing multimedia services with the necessary parameters. A numerical analysis is carried out and a graphical dependence of the maximum network throughput on the total number software and hardware systems is constructed for a given system load factor.

Abstract:
A multimedia training program for community college faculty includes research results in its training. Recent research in computer assisted multimedia instruction is examined and summarized. Changes in the technology of instruction are described and illustrated. A description of the pedagogical relevance of research to teacher training is offered. The facilities, activities, and outcomes of an instructional multimedia training project for faculty at San Juan College are described. The current principles of instructional systems design, identified by a survey of current research in cai, reflect a pedagogical shift from behaviorism through cognitivism to constructivism. Current research in cai reports that multimedia improves the effectiveness of cai, but provides little consistent empirical evidence explaining why. Questions about learner feedback and control have led to useful results in control/display ergonomics. Continued development of effective, artificially-intelligent tutoring systems has benefited from wider progress in expert systems. Research findings demonstrate that the immanent complexity of hypermedia requires methodical management, that cognitive factors limit the optimum number and effective types of hypermedia link displays, and that close monitoring of learner-system interaction reveals important cognitive differences in individual learners. That same close monitoring of interaction also enables complex instructional systems to respond differentially, thus effectively, across broad differences among individual learners. Different schools of pedagogical thought offer different theoretical explanations for cai's efficacy, but in practice cai's increasing capacity to address individual differences in learning processes is re-emphasizing the importance of teachers' ability to do the same.

Abstract:
In the context of the rapid development of wireless communication and information technology, the network has greatly shortened the actual spatial distances around the world. Multimedia technology and wireless communication, as an important branch of information technology, can better connect people and the network, exploding very powerful energy in the field of education. This research analyzes the cultural communication function of wireless communication and multimedia network technology in university teaching, especially English teaching. At this stage, almost all universities in our country are using multimedia technology to assist teaching, and even many teachers believe that multimedia has become a necessary foundation for the in-depth development of the “teaching-learning” interaction in colleges and universities in the information age. The demand for English talents in the Chinese labor market is dominated by application-oriented talents, but the purpose of English teaching in many schools is still in the reality of traditional research-based teaching. It is concluded that the root of this contradiction lies in the disconnection between the cultivation of talents in universities and the needs of society. The experimental results show that if the advantages of wireless communication and multimedia network technology can be fully utilized, the teaching efficiency of cultural communication in college English teaching can be increased by 22%. This article also analyzes, discusses, and summarizes the methods and approaches of cultural dissemination to enrich academic research results.

The creation of such systems became possible after many years of research on the creation and management of chaos in electronic systems. The requirements for transceivers for transmitting multimedia data in wireless sensor networks and the characteristics of existing systems are considered. The prospects of using ultra-wideband wireless systems based on direct chaotic data transmission in multimedia sensor networks are analyzed.

Abstract:
This paper reviews various efforts to define and capture the semantics of multimedia data. These efforts are particularly relevant to the problem of storing, managing and querying the semantic content of such data. Since there is not yet an accepted solution to the problem of how to represent, organize and manage multimedia data and the related semantics by means of a formal framework, this paper aims at providing some major research trends in this area. The focus is on ontologies, which allow the exchange of semantics of multimedia content between distributed information systems. This paper aims at reporting on recent trends in the development of multimedia ontologies.

Abstract:
The popularity of research on intelligent multimedia services and applications is motivated by the high demand of the convenient access and distribution of pervasive multimedia data. Facing with abundant multimedia resources but inefficient and rather old-fashioned keyword-based retrieval approaches, Intelligent Multimedia Systems (IMS) demand on (i) effective filtering algorithms for storage saving, computation reduction, and dynamic media delivery; and (ii) advanced learning methods to accurately identify target concepts, effectively search personalized media content, and enable media-type driven applications. Nowadays, the web based multimedia applications become more and more popular. Therefore, how to utilize the web technology into multimedia data management and retrieval becomes an important research topic. In this paper, the authors developed a web-based intelligent video retrieval system that integrates effective and efficient MCA-based filtering and subspace-based learning to facilitate end users to retrieve their desired semantic concepts. A web-based demo shows the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent multimedia system to provide relevant results of target semantic concepts retrieved from TRECVID video collections.

Abstract:
In this study, college undergraduate students were presented identical material on the domain of intelligent tutoring systems. The author designed his research to isolate the key variables, disallow for the effect of some of those variables, and determine in a precise way what effects are produced by a multimedia delivery system, repetition of instructional and testing material, and an intelligent tutoring system delivery system. The first phase of this study, comparing test scores of students who were presented material in two delivery systems: 1) hard-copy (printed material), and 2) a computer-based multimedia program, indicated no statistically significant difference in scores. A second part of that phase, comparing test scores and re-test scores of students studying the computer-based multimedia program, indicated no statistically significant difference in scores. The second phase of this study, comparing scores of the two initial delivery systems and scores on a multimedia modified intelligent tutoring system, resulted in a statistically significant difference in scores.

Abstract:
Purpose – The overwhelming speed and scale of digital media production greatly outpace conventional indexing methods by humans. The management of Big Data for e-library speech resources requires an automated metadata solution. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – A conceptual model called semantic ontologies for multimedia indexing (SOMI) allows for assembly of the speech objects, encapsulation of semantic associations between phonic units and the definition of indexing techniques designed to invoke and maximize the semantic ontologies for indexing. A literature review and architectural overview are followed by evaluation techniques and a conclusion. Findings – This approach is only possible because of recent innovations in automated speech recognition. The introduction of semantic keyword spotting allows for indexing models that disambiguate and prioritize meaning using probability algorithms within a word confusion network. By the use of AI error-training procedures, optimization is sought for each index item. Research limitations/implications – Validation and implementation of this approach within the field of digital libraries still remain under development, but rapid developments in technology and research show rich conceptual promise for automated speech indexing. Practical implications – The SOMI process has been preliminarily tested, showing that hybrid semantic-ontological approaches produce better accuracy than semantic automation alone. Social implications – Even as testing proceeds on recorded conference talks at the University of Tebessa (Algeria), other digital archives can look toward similar indexing. This will mean greater access to sound file metadata. Originality/value – Huge masses of spoken data, unmanageable for a human indexer, can prospectively find semantically sorted and prioritized indexing – not transcription, but generated metadata – automatically, quickly and accurately.

Abstract:
In this paper, we provide a holistic survey of multimedia content protection applications in which blockchain technology is being used. A taxonomy is developed to classify these applications with reference to the technical aspects of blockchain technology, content protection techniques, namely, encryption, digital rights management, digital watermarking and fingerprinting (or transaction tracking), and performance criteria. The study of the literature reveals that there is currently no complete and systematic taxonomy dedicated to blockchain-based copyright protection applications. Moreover, the number of successfully developed blockchain-based content protection systems is very low. This points towards a research gap. To fill this gap, we propose a taxonomy that integrates technical aspects and application knowledge and can guide the researchers towards the development of blockchain-based multimedia copyright protection systems. Furthermore, the paper discusses some technical challenges and outlines future research directions.
