Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the multiplier effects of economic activities in the local economy of Greek non-metropolitan prefectures at NUTS3 level according to the Eurostat classification. Design/methodology/approach A disaggregate economic base model using OLS regression with clustered standard errors is implemented in 49 non-metropolitan prefectures and 17 economic activities for 2000 and 2012. AbstractThis chapter presents the main results of the Semi-Input-Output (SIO) multiplier analysis. Overall, the results of the empirical analysis show that the agricultural sector was the best growth option in Ethiopia in the studied time period, with high and strengthening growth linkages to other sectors. Due to the apparent rigidity of the manufacturing sector, manufacturing growth would not have had as strong an effect on overall growth. These results are presented in detail, as well as discussed, in this chapter.

This research examines the economic impact of tourism in N. Macedonia, focusing on the hospitality sector (hotels and restaurants). Using Symmetric Input-Output (SIOT) tables, the study quantifies the multiplier effect by analyzing the direct and indirect impacts of the hospitality sector on the national economy. This paper explores a particular job creation channel during a resource boom, using Mongolia as a case study. Resource booms can lead to impressive growth rates in resource-rich developing countries. The paper examines the link between resource booms triggered by new resource projects and FDI inflows into the non-resource sector on one hand, and FDI and job creation on the other. Its analysis focuses explicitly on the non-resource sector, where the positive economic effects of FDI are more pronounced than in the extractive sector.
