Garcia, Oscar. "Rafue Ite! Ethnographie d’un bal rituel amazonien (Murui-Muina-Uitoto, Amazonie colombienne)." Thesis, Paris Sciences et Lettres (ComUE), 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018PSLEH178.
Full textThis thesis is dedicated to the ritual balls (ritual dances) of the Murui-Muina (also called Uitoto), a people from the North-West area of the Amazon forest (from the region of the Medio-Caquetá). It is an analysis of the different rites that make up the dances and the shamanism of the Murui-Muina, based on an ethnographic study e of the "Yuakɨ Ball" (or "Ball of the Fruits").This research shows that the Yuakɨ Ball is an event that brings together different patrilineage groups and aims at managing the environment surrounding the society and healing from epidemics. The thesis is composed of four parts, divided into two volumes. The first volume is dedicated to murui-muina shamanism and the second to Yuakɨ's ball. In the two volumes, cosmology, ritual procedures and the relationships between those participating in the dances are studied. This analysis is based on an ethnographic study but also on ancient oral traditions, transmitted from one historical period to the next one and told during mythical ceremonies and narrations, such as the bakakɨ and the zomarafue. The existing ethnography on the Murui-Muina will thus be reunited, reinterpreted and compared to the new data collected. In the ecological model of this people, which emerges from this thesis, life is conceived as an incessant struggle between human and non-human groups, regulated by norms such as the prohibition of endo-cannibalism or the revenge (the only legitimate violence). Human and non-human groups are placed under the authority of "Master" spirits and human beings must negotiate their lives with other beings who inhabit their environment (animals, plants, minerals, etc.). This research also shows the mnemonic strategy used by Murui-Muina during the rites studied and wants to be one of the rare contributions to the study of ritual dance in the Amazon area. It is therefore a study that combines anthropology of nature, anthropology of memory and anthropology of dance

Full textThe mythical stories or oral accounts are the witnesses of the experience and of the evolution of manhood throughout time. They re-build both the historical and scientific memory thas has marked the individual and collective identity of nations. The colombian indian societies own an exceptional cultural richness. Their myths and rituals are born from magical-religious and Christian traditions that have been transformed throughout history. The mythical universe of the colombian indian is surrounded by feminine symbols that designate protection, fertility, procreation, renewal and purification. The symbolism is the witness of the need that man has to find again his primary essence and the well being that he experienced in his mother's womb. In the oral accounts, the feminine images represented by animals, objects and by nature itself, allow us to see the protectionist character of the indian man. Everything has to be a sign of fertility, fluidity and continuity so that life will never end, so that fruits and plants will continue to feed the live species and so that water continues to purify man's soul. Thus, in the oral tradition of colombian indian cultures , we learn that the indian man claims the fertile and reproductive nature of the woman in who he truly founds the sense of universe and of his existence

Full textThe trend of healthy consumption is generating more people opt for more natural beverages, which is a trend in consumption worldwide. Likewise, in the world there is a high preference in the consumption of coffee (95%), whose by-products such as coffee husk have not been well used and currently more than 80% are wasted generating environmental pollution and in other cases use as fertilizer, only in some countries of the world and Latin America are innovating with by-products and are using the husk to produce new products such as infusions, jams, yogurt, etc. Peru is not exempt from this, that is why Muru Café is born, a natural drink based on coffee husks, zero sugars, with high carbohydrate, protein and mineral content, 500 times more antioxidant than vitamin C, with light sweetness and beneficial to health due to its nutritional value. In the Peruvian market there is this type of natural beverage, but it has not been industrialized for commercialization in the market, so it represents an opportunity to venture into the business. In addition, through market research, it was possible to validate the target audience and the indirect distribution channels to sell beverages in minimarkets, convenience stores, naturists and supermarkets. Likewise, the work team is highly trained and experienced in production, sales, administration and finance, which allows us to develop a viable, profitable and sustainable project over time.

Full textThe present project shows the viability of the execution of the Muru eco-friendly tool line business, based on the research carried out in Metropolitan Lima to the NSE "A" and "B" citizens. This investigation made it possible to detect that there is a segment of consumers who are looking to purchase eco-friendly tools, whether they are made from recycled materials or have a reduced impact on the environment, which consumers do not find easily because those are usually sold to corporate customers. In order to launch this project the next year (2020), it was attempted to analyze the industry in detail considering the key trends, market forces, macroeconomic forces, among others. In addition, in order to achieve a better and more structured planning, the company structure was developed, divided as follows: Marketing Plan, Financial Plan, Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, Human Resources Plan and the Operations Plan. Within each of the plans, the strategies, activities and resources that are needed for this project to be viable when in runs into operation are contemplated. Special emphasis was placed on the development of the Financial Plan so that its projections are as accurate as possible. As a result of the aforementioned, it was obtained that for the project to begin its operational phase an investment of 31,000 soles is needed. Also, after the investment, the projected net profits are 35,696.77; 93,400.48 and 136,959.96 soles for the first, second and third year respectively.

Battaglini, Giovanna. "Murus servii. La fase arcaica delle mura di roma." Thesis, Besançon, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014BESA1016.
Full textThe aim of this research is to investigate the “Servian Wall”, a fundamental monument for the study and the comprehension of the Archaic Age. The main target of this analysis is to recognize and, at the same time, to attribute a date to the earliest city-wall of Rome. Effectively, there are still several questions and unsolved problems related to these topics. This dissertation confirms the existence of the circuit walls of Rome in the VIth BC, in accordance with literary sources: the earliest city-wall, indeed, is traditionally attributed to the king Servius Tullius (578-535 BC) by ancient authors. The extension of the archaic fortification almost corresponded to those of the Republican walls (IVth century BC); this matter is considered unacceptable by different scholars, who usually exploited it as an evidence to refute the existence of a circuit wall during the VIth BC.: a theory that would deny, indirectly, the well-known development of the so called “Grande Roma dei Tarquini”

Paris, EPHE, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013EPHE5022.
Full textThis thesis is a monograph of the Mursi, a population of several thousand living in the Omo valley, in southern Ethiopia. It aims to shed light on the aesthetic practices of the Mursi (anthroponomy, poetry, body ornamentation, dances) and the processes of sociality they create. These practices are seen as being constitutive of distinct, significant registers of relationship. The argument is two-fold. First, aesthetic practices, as pervasive features of the daily life of the Mursi and other East African pastoralists, cannot be reduced to their symbolism and must be seen as providing specific conditions for interaction and communication. Second, and consequently, these aesthetic practices are closely linked to other social domains which have long been considered to be independent of them, notably pastoralism and politics. Indeed, because everyday life makes extensive use of aesthetic practices, the latter must be recognized as playing an essential role in the organization of the Mursi’s pastoral and activities and in the construction of their political institutions

Full textThis thesis analyzes the role of material culture in the construction of a collective identity in an agro-pastoralist group of Southwest Ethiopia, the Mursi. Attention is paid to multiple supports and practices, tangible and intangible, imperishable and perishable. From the beginning, the identification of human groups through the study of their material culture has been an essential part of the history of archaeological research. However, our knowledge about past groups is limited, not only due to the partial preservation of past remains but also, and often, due to methodological problems like the subjective selection of a single type of object or context where to analyze identity aspects. The ethnographic research carried out during the last two decades has generated new paradigms from which to analyze the processes of identification in the area of study, the Lower Omo Valley. To obtain a more complete view of the interaction between the identity – materiality binomial, we use an ethnoarchaeological approach. The choice of this research strategy allows us to observe and reflect, in a current population, on the active role of objects in the construction and maintenance of a social or collective identity. Participation in five campaigns within the Mursiland Heritage Project allowed me to obtain an abundant documentary base which was enlarged by the study of seven museum collections held in of Budapest, (Hungary), Osaka (Japan), Rome (Italy), Manchester (United Kingdom), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Valencia (Spain) and Jinka (Ethiopia). The present work of thesis incorporates to the traditional archaeological methodology of analysis several categories generated by the local population. This has allowed to establish four areas of study that explore the territory and the mobility, the daily life and related material culture, the objects used in public events and, finally, three institutions to which all individuals belong to and which, through the restriction on the use of a series of objects, hierarchize community life. The results demonstrate the strategic nature of individual and collective identifications, as well as the determining role of objects in making them possible. Hopefully, these conclusions will lead to a reconsideration when assigning categories on groups in other contexts, whether geographic or chronological.

This is an dissertation ethnografic intervention project (ANDR?, 2005) of a qualitative nature, aiming at giving new meaning to writting techniques through a literacy project (KLEIMAN, 2000). This project is seen as a didactic model (TINOCO, 2008) developed in a learning community (AFONSO, 2001) composed by 8th grade students from Escola Estadual Augusto Xavier de G?is (State handled Public school Augusto Xavier de Gois) and the teacher-researcher, as well as people outside the school community. The general focus of this dissertation was to value the immaterial heritage of Praia de Muriu by putting oral tradition stories into writing. From that main objective came three specific goals: (i) to map the stories told in oral tradition by the people of this community (ii) to verify if this writing process can aid in having local stories acknowledged as cultural heritage (iii) (Iii) re-signify the teaching of writing and increase the skills of students. To provide a basis for this paper, the theories of dialogical language conception were used (BAKHTIN, [1979] 1997); in processes of retextualization (MARCUSCHI, 2010); in literacy studies (KLEIMAN, 2000, 2005, 2012; HAMILTON, 2000; TINOCO, 2008; STREET, 2014; OLIVEIRA; TINOCO and SANTOS, 2014). Data generation included many literacy events (HAMILTON, 2000), such as: two speeches and ten field classes, which have been registered in both video and photos. From those events on, several sessions of collaborative writing and rewriting were developed. In order to analyse the data, support was found in the Linguistics Text (MARCUSCHI, 2008; KOCH, 2010; KOCH; TRAVAGLIA, 2012; ANTUNES, 2016) and in processes of retextualization (OLIVEIRA, 2005; MARCUSCHI, 2010). The results of this project were three parts: this dissertation, that represents a theoretical methodological basis for the intervention undertook, a printed book, written by the collective involved in the process, and a video book. Both the written book and the video book entail stories from the oral tradition of Muri? beach community, located in Cear?-Mirim, district of the Brazilian Northeast, state of Rio Grande do Norte. The analysis of data points towards giving new meaning to composition work in the school context as well as adding value to the local immaterial heritage.

The Amazon Region presents a great source of species rich in bioactive compounds, such as Euterpe oleracea (açaizeiro), Byrsonima crassifolia (murucizeiro) and Inga edulis (ingazeiro). From these matrices, purified extracts rich in phenolic content have been produced containing compounds such as flavonoids and tannins. It is known that tannins, more specifically condensed tannins (proanthocyanidins) are polymers of simple phenolic compounds, and when present in foods, are involved in the sensation of astringency due to its complexation with saliva protein, thus acting as an anti-nutrition agent. Methods have been developed aiming the depolymerization of these compounds, such as acid cleavage, because apart from promoting the reduction of astringency, studies have shown that they also contribute to increased antioxidant capacity and to promote the absorption of these compounds. It is noteworthy that, with the growing interest in monomeric phenolic compounds, tests on a pilot scale, to produce them in larger quantities, are necessary. Therefore, the aim of this study was to verify the effects of the acid cleavage of proanthocyanidins, on a pilot scale, present in the extracts of Amazonic plants, thus evaluating the phenolic content, the astringent and antioxidant capacity. In order to achieve that, the purified aqueous extracts of each plant were characterized by spectrophotometric analysis (total phenolic content, total flavonols and total flavanols, total anthocyanidins, proanthocyanidins and antioxidant capacity (DPPH)), astringency analysis and identification of the main compounds by on High Pressure Liquid Chromatography. Subsequently the samples underwent an acid cleavage with a reaction medium of 60% Ethanol, HCl 3N, in a temperature of 88 °C for 165 minutes. The purified aqueous extracts of muruci, ingá and açaí showed a high concentration of polyphenols (761.83, 493.59 and 531.55 mg GAE/g MS, respectively), as well as high concentrations of total flavanols, total flavonols, and proanthocyanidins. The process of acid cleavage promoted an increase in the content of total polyphenols and was effective in hydrolyzing the proanthocyanidins, in reducing the astringency, in increasing the antioxidant capacity as well as in obtaining subclass of compounds of anthocyanins for the three extracts. The scaling-up process resulted in no significant difference (p>0.05) regarding the cleavage held in analytical scale, for all extracts. Besides the depolymerization of proanthocyanidins, the acid treatment provides the deglycosylation of flavonoids as glycosylated quercetins (Byrsonima crassifolia and Inga edulis), glycosylated miricetins (Inga edulis) and glycosylated cianidins (Euterpe oleracea). Thus, the increase in scale of the process made possible the production of extracts rich in compounds with high antioxidant capacity which provided good indication to the possible use of these extracts as antioxidants agents in food and pharmaceutical products.

Full textThe Mursi Formation has an age estimated at more than 4 million years, which corresponds to the emergence of the australopithecines, the first indisputably bipedal hominins. The Mursi faunal collection (N=201) is compared taphonomically to that of the Member A of the Shungura Formation (N=300). Taphonomy is the study of the processes that intervene between the death of an animal and its discovery as a fossil. This thesis aims to describe the main differences and similarities of these two collections and to make paleoenvironmental inferences. For each taphonomical agent (weathering, trampling, etc.), fossils are graded using stages established by other researchers. In spite of a few significant differences (carnivore action, weathering), it seems that the two collections are taphonomically similar and their link with water, as predicted by paleoenvironmental reconstructions, is supported (Voorhies groups, abrasion).
