The authors investigate whether there were significant differences in preferences for, familiarity with, and identification of Chinese, Malay, and Indian music between adolescent students from Singapore ( n = 78) and the United Kingdom ( n = 53). The first study investigated the relative extent to which liking for musical excerpts is associated with liking for the styles in which they are performed and for the pieces on which they are based.
