In this article I discuss the blossoming of musical life in Greece that begun in 1974, simultaneously with the growth of the debt crisis. Communist musicians returned from exile and they were hailed as heroes while their music became indispensible to pre-electoral gatherings. Pruitt often took pictures there, whether it was politicians making speeches or white women eating in the Gardenia Room. The four-story hotel was made from clay hand-dug by Black slaves in 1860.
