Abstract:

Abstract:
Background: A research on mood disorder pathophysiology has hypothesized abnormalities in glutamatergic neurotransmission, by suggesting further investigation on glutamatergic N-methyl-Daspartate (NMDA) receptor modulators in treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Esketamine (ESK), an NMDA receptor antagonist able to modulate glutamatergic neurotransmission has been recently developed as an intranasal formulation for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and for rapid reduction of depressive symptomatology, including suicidal ideation in MDD patients at imminent risk for suicide. Objective: The present study aims at investigating recent clinical findings on research on the role of the glutamatergic system and ESK in treating suicidal depression in MDD and TRD. Methods: A systematic review was here carried out on PubMed/Medline, Scopus and the database on U.S. N.I.H. Clinical Trials (https://clinicaltrials.gov) and the European Medical Agency (EMA) (https://clinicaltrialsregister.eu) from inception until October 2019. Results: Intravenous infusion of ESK is reported to elicit rapid-acting and sustained antidepressant activity in refractory patients with MDD and TRD. In phase II studies, intranasal ESK demonstrated a rapid onset and a persistent efficacy in patients with TRD as well as in MDD patients at imminent risk for suicide. However, some data discrepancies have emerged in phase III studies. Conclusion: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted fast track and Breakthrough Therapy Designation to Janssen Pharmaceuticals®, Inc. for intranasal ESK in 2013 for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and in 2016 for the treatment of MDD with an imminent risk of suicide. However, further studies should be implemented to investigate the long-term efficacy and safety of intranasal ESK.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Johan Holtsmark at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (N.T.H.) in Trondheim, Norway, built a Van de Graaff generator for nuclear disintegration between 1933 and 1937. This is believed to be the second Van de Graaff generator in Europe and the first particle accelerator in Scandinavia. Holtsmark's successful project followed the failed attempt at N.T.H. by Olaf Devik in the 1920s to develop a discharge tube for nuclear disintegration driven by an evacuated Tesla coil. The genesis of Holtsmark's project was the interaction with Odd Dahl, who had constructed a Van de Graaff accelerator at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism, Carnegie Institution of Washington. Holtsmark approached organizations potentially interested in cancer research and treatment for financial support. The electrical engineers appointed to build several parts of the accelerator had been radio amateurs, like many accelerator pioneers at the time. The team had to construct almost everything themselves given financial constraints and the lack of a supporting electrical industry. When operative in 1937, the Van de Graaff generator was already a comparatively small machine. The Trondheim scientists chose to develop it as a precision machine for proton capturing experiments in light elements. The accelerator proved a useful tool for research and teaching until 1963, when it was shut down and given to the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology. This article seeks to answer why Holtsmark engaged in such an ambitious project in the periphery of Europe's scientific community and how he succeeded at a small department with several coexisting research activities.

Abstract:
The quality of surface water is deteriorating day by day due to various anthropogenic activities. Ganga water is assumed polluted almost in the entire strech of river. The medicinal plants may be useful for amelioration of pollution. The present work deals with the study of several chemical characteristics as well as microbial examination of water samples taken from few sites of Ganga river namely Krishna Ghat, Kali Ghat and N.I.T Ghat (Gandhi Ghat) at Patna. The study was foccused on the evaluation of antimicrobial effect of Moringa oleifera (sahjan) leaves extract in the Ganga water. The aqueous leaves extract of different concentrations (0.1%, 0.16%, 0.23%, 0.3%) showed ameliorating results on pH and chloride content of water as well as microbial activity. Significant ameliorating results were observed on pH and chloride content of water. pH was reduced from 8.1 to 7.4 and chloride was reduced from 82.36 mg/l to 48.14 mg/l under plant extract treatment. Colony Forming Unit (CFU) was assessed by standard plate count (SPC) method and was found to be 468 CFU/ml for raw water, which was reduced to 143 CFU/ml when treated with plant extract. Similar decreasing trend was observed in case of MPN of coliform. So extract of Moringa oleifera may also be applied to purify drinking water. Morever it will be cheaper for the people in comparision to other purification devices.

Abstract:
The efficiency of a vineyard management system is directly related to the effective management of nutritional disorders, which significantly downgrades vine growth, crop yield and wine quality. To detect nutritional disorders, we successfully extracted a wide range of features using hyperspectral (HS) images to identify healthy and individual nutrient deficiencies of grapevine leaves. Features such as mean reflectance, mean first derivative reflectance, variation index, mean spectral ratio, normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) and standard deviation (SD) were employed at various stages in the ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS) and near-infrared (N.I.R.) regions for our experiment. Leaves were examined visually in the laboratory and grouped as either healthy (i.e. control) or unhealthy. Then, the features of the leaves were extracted from these two groups. In a second experiment, features of individual nutrient-deficient leaves (e.g., N, K and Mg) were also analysed and compared with those of control leaves. Furthermore, a customised support vector machine (SVM) was used to demonstrate that these features can be utilised with a high degree of effectiveness to identify unhealthy samples and not only to distinguish from control and nutrient deficient but also to identify individual nutrient defects. Therefore, the proposed work corroborated that HS imaging has excellent potential to analyse features based on healthiness and individual nutrient deficiencies of grapevine leaves.

Abstract:
Apology plays an important role in maintaining social relationships. This paper aims to examine apology strategies employed by students of University of Foreign Language Studies, Vietnam when apologizing to their English language lecturers. A total of 300 students completed the questionnaires which seek to explore their engagement in apology. Among the 300 respondents who completed the questionnaires, 100 students admitted that they wrote apology emails in English to their lecturers at least once during the last three academic semesters. The emails were also analysed to closely examine the apology utterances. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies were employed to analyze the apology utterances and questionnaire data, focusing on the reasons why the students apologized, and the strategies employed in seeking the apology. Data analysis reveals that the students apologized mainly for cheating in exams, being late for classes, showing disrespect to the lecturers and being absent from classes. In terms of apology strategies, the students mostly employed the strategies of Illocutionary Force Indicating Device (expression of the apology), Promise of forbearance and Accounts (telling what has happened). The students tended to use email when apologizing for serious offences and they preferred to meet the lecturers face-to-face for the less serious ones. Keywords: Apology strategy, email, lecturers, students, VietnamCite as: Trang, N.T.H. Abstract:
Introduction: Asrigdara is of more concern, because excessive or prolonged bleeding may cause undue disruption of woman’s daily activities & affects woman's health both physically and psychologically. As per Ayurveda classics, Asrigdara is defined as excessive menstrual bleeding for prolonged duration and / or scanty intermenstrual bleeding for a shorter duration, denoting the features of specific Dosha. Asrigdara can be correlated with abnormal uterine bleeding especially dysfunctional uterine bleeding on the basis of its description in literature. Thus, according to its pathogenesis Pittashamaka, Vatanulomana, Rakta-sthapaka, Rakta-samgrahi, Agni-deepana and Garbhashaya-balya Chikitsa is beneficial in Asrigdara. Though the main concern is to reduce bleeding, hence Rakta Sthapana chikitsa becomes important. Acharaya Charaka said it to be treated on the principles of management of Raktatisara, Raktapitta and Rakta arsha. Aim & Objectives: To compare the efficacy of Drakshadi Yoga and Kutajashtaka Ghana in management of Asrigdara. Materials & Methods: Study was conducted on clinically diagnosed 30 patients of Asrigdara in P.G. department of Prasuti Tantra and Stri Roga, N.I.A., Jaipur. Drakshadi yoga was taken in this study from Sushruta Samhita Uttar Tantra 45/34 in reference to Raktapitta chikitsa. Kutajashtaka ghana (Chakradutta 3/86-89) was taken from Chakradutta from Atisaar Chikitsa, having indication in asrigdara. Result: Comparing the symptomatic improvement in both groups it was found that average percentage of relief was a little bit higher in ‘Group B’ Kutajashtaka Ghana i.e. 74.79 %, followed by ‘Group A’ Drakshadi Yoga i.e. 74.21 %. Abstract:
11085 Background: The College of American Pathologists (CAP), the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), and the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) jointly initiated an effort to establish evidence-based recommendations for the molecular analysis of lung cancers required to guide EGFR- and ALK-directed therapies, addressing which patients and samples should be tested, and when and how testing should be performed. Methods: Three co-chairs without relevant conflicts of interest were selected, one from each of the sponsoring societies: CAP (P.T.C.), IASLC (M.L.), and AMP (N.I.L.). Writing and advisory panels were formed from additional experts from these societies. Unbiased literature searches were performed to capture articles up to February 2012, yielding 1,533 articles whose abstracts were screened to identify 521 pertinent articles that were then reviewed in detail for relevance. Evidence was formally graded for each of the recommendations first formulated by the co-chairs and panel members at a public meeting. Each guideline section was assigned to at least two panelists. Successive drafts were circulated for comments to the writing panel, the advisory panel, the public (online posting), and the three professional societies. Results: We generated 37 guideline items addressing 14 areas of EGFR and ALK testing. The major, evidence-based recommendations are to test for EGFR mutations and ALK fusions in all patients with advanced stage adenocarcinoma, regardless of sex, race, or smoking history, and to prioritize EGFR and ALK testing over other molecular predictive tests. Recommendations and expert consensus opinions were generated for all other key aspects of EGFR and ALK testing in lung cancer related to oncology and pathology practice and technical issues in molecular testing. Conclusions: As scientific discoveries and clinical practice outpace the completion of randomized clinical trials, evidence-based guidelines developed by expert practitioners are vital for communicating emerging clinical standards and thereby improving patient outcomes.

Abstract:
BackgroundC-reactive protein (CRP) is a candidate biomarker for major depressive disorder (MDD), but it is unclear how peripheral CRP levels relate to the heterogeneous clinical phenotypes of the disorder.AimTo explore CRP in MDD and its phenotypic associations.MethodWe recruited 102 treatment-resistant patients with MDD currently experiencing depression, 48 treatment-responsive patients with MDD not currently experiencing depression, 48 patients with depression who were not receiving medication and 54 healthy volunteers. High-sensitivity CRP in peripheral venous blood, body mass index (BMI) and questionnaire assessments of depression, anxiety and childhood trauma were measured. Group differences in CRP were estimated, and partial least squares (PLS) analysis explored the relationships between CRP and specific clinical phenotypes.ResultsCompared with healthy volunteers, BMI-corrected CRP was significantly elevated in the treatment-resistant group (P = 0.007; Cohen's d = 0.47); but not significantly so in the treatment-responsive (d = 0.29) and untreated (d = 0.18) groups. PLS yielded an optimal two-factor solution that accounted for 34.7% of variation in clinical measures and for 36.0% of variation in CRP. Clinical phenotypes most strongly associated with CRP and heavily weighted on the first PLS component were vegetative depressive symptoms, BMI, state anxiety and feeling unloved as a child or wishing for a different childhood.ConclusionsCRP was elevated in patients with MDD, and more so in treatment-resistant patients. Other phenotypes associated with elevated CRP included childhood adversity and specific depressive and anxious symptoms. We suggest that patients with MDD stratified for proinflammatory biomarkers, like CRP, have a distinctive clinical profile that might be responsive to second-line treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs.Declaration of interestS.R.C. consults for Cambridge Cognition and Shire; and his input in this project was funded by a Wellcome Trust Clinical Fellowship (110049/Z/15/Z). Abstract:
In shallow waters the wave height distribution significantly differs from Rayleigh distribution during extreme wind conditions. The EurOtop manual (Pullen et al. 2007) recommends the use of a composite Rayleigh-Weibull distribution proposed by Battjes and Groenendijk (2000) in order to describe the wave statistics in shallow waters. A test of this recommendation by using wave measurements with continuously operated radar level gauges at three different sites at the German North Sea coast for comparison revealed the necessity for a change in the parameterization given in the EurOtop manual. Abstract:
Filosofia. Ensino. Abstract: The present paper emphasizes possible understanding of philosophy from the Geneva author, Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), from his criticism to the thinkers of his epoch. To the Swiss author highlighted here, such thinkers were interested in obtaining fame and recognition among the Republic of Letters. The positioning of the Genevan writer would translate in a way which it decides to raise awareness to the distance between the speeches given by the eighteenth-century society, characterized by exaggerated optimism in relation to the rationality, and the daily actions extremely involved in the diffusion of human vanity, denial of virtue and ultimately responsible for the unhappiness of individuals. Through a contesting posture, we can notice that Rousseau points to what would be the true way of being of philosophy as an exercise of thinking that furthers the experience of self-knowledge, in other words, that the realization of the activity of philosophy should be in order to lead the man to know himself to know, to know himself and to know enough for know yourself and know enough for yourself. Abstract:
The model of Late Pleistocene-Holocene sequence stratigraphy of the subaqueous Red River delta and the adjacent shelf is proposed by interpretation of high-resolution seismic documents and comparison with previous research results on Holocene sedimentary evolution on the delta plain. Four units (U1, U2, U3, and U4) and four sequence stratigraphic surfaces (SB1, TS, TRS and MFS) were determined. The formation of these units and surfaces is related to the global sea-level change in Late Pleistocene-Holocene. SB1, defined as the sequence boundary, was generated by subaerial processes during the Late Pleistocene regression and could be remolded partially or significantly by transgressive ravinement processes subsequently. The basal unit U1 (fluvial formations) within incised valleys is arranged into the lowstand systems tract (LST) formed in the early slow sea-level rise ~19-14.5 cal.kyr BP, the U2 unit is arranged into the early transgressive systems tract (E-TST) deposited mainly within incised-valleys under the tide-influenced river to estuarine conditions in the rapid sea-level rise ~14.5-9 cal.kyr BP, the U3 unit is arranged into the late transgressive systems tract (L-TST) deposited widely on the continental shelf in the fully marine condition during the late sea-level rise ~9-7 cal.kyr BP, and the U4 unit represents for the highstand systems tract (HST) with clinoform structure surrounding the modern delta coast, extending to the water depth of 25-30 m, developed by sediments from the Red River system in ~3-0 cal.kyr BP.ReferencesBadley M.E., 1985. How to serve the audience? The Belgian National Radio Institute (N.I.R.) in search of putting into practice the public service remit through its music and audience policy before the era of television (1930-1953). This article questions in what way the Belgian radio-broadcaster was searching how to put into practice the central public service remit through its music and audience policy from the start of the institute in 1930 till the launch of television in 1953. Departing from a theoretical reflection on the concept of Public Service Broadcasting, this article presents the results of a qualitative content analysis of policy documents (minutes, annual reports) as well as writings of key members of the N.I.R.-staff. It reveals a shared paternalistic vision on the public service remit as well as oppositional views upon the audience and how to serve it.

Abstract:
Burnout among the working population. Results of the Maastricht Cohort Study Burnout among the working population. Results of the Maastricht Cohort Study IJ. Kant, N.W.H. Jansen, L.G.P.M. van Amelsvoort, D.C.L. Mohren & G.M.H. Swaen, Gedrag & Organisatie, volume 17, February 2004, nr. 1, pp. 5-17. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence of burnout among the Dutch working population in a large study sample. Data of the Maastricht Cohort Study on Fatigue at Work (N=12,140) were analyzed. This study shows that burnout has a one-year incidence of 6.1% and is highly prevalent (16.4%) among the working population, and is strongly associated with both objective situational job and family characteristics and health status. However, burnout appeared to be associated with organizational aspects as well. Our approach of comparing prevalences between different groups, based on a large study sample, is suitable for detecting and describing possible risk groups for burnout. Furthermore, this study shows large differences in the prevalence of burnout, both between companies within one occupational sector and between departments within one company. It is concluded that the detection of burnout risk groups should be based on (objective) job and family characteristics and health, rather than solely on occupation.

Abstract:
Apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3) plays an important role in regulating lipid levels. This study aimed to assess whether the polymorphism APOC3-rs2854116 is associated with lipid profiles in primary school children in Hanoi. A case-control study was designed including 161 cases with dyslipidemia and 406 controls without dyslipidemia. Genotype for APOC3-rs2854116 polymorphism was determined by the polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism method (PCR-RFLP). The results showed that there were differences in the effect of APOC3-rs2854116 polymorphism to lipid profiles among children with dyslipidemia. In comparison with A/G and A/A carriers, the G/G carriers had the higher concentration of serum TC, TG, and LDL-C (P < 0.05). APOC3-rs2854116 polymorphism was related to hypercholesterolemia in children with the most appropriate genetic model being additive model. Increasing each of the G alleles increased the risk of hypercholesterolemia by 2.2 times (P = 0.005) after adjustment for age and sex. This relationship was almost unchanged after adjustment for obesity-related traits. The study suggested that the APOC3-rs2854116 polymorphism significantly associated with hypercholesterolemia in primary school children in Hanoi independent of obesity-related traits.
