Abstract:

Les œuvres de Jeanne Nabert (1883-1969), née à Pont-Croix dans le Cap Sizun, construisent un monde dont on retrouve les contours et les motifs dans la littérature sur la Bretagne dans les deux dernières décennies du XIXe siècle et la première moitié du siècle suivant. L'étude montre comment, par ses thèmes et ses choix esthétiques, l'auteur s'inscrit dans un courant littéraire régionaliste dont il s'agit de circonscrire les stéréotypes, en se référant à des écrivains qui ont nourri leurs œuvres des particularismes sociaux et culturels bretons : orientations ethnographiques et images mythiques se côtoient pour rendre compte d'une société disparue ou en pleine mutation. Mais Jeanne Nabert dépasse la simple référence régionaliste en invitant dans son œuvre au mariage d'un lyrisme inspiré par la nature et d'une ironie aiguisée par un regard jeté sur la cruauté des relations humaines ou lucide face à la lanterne magique des chimères. Tour à tour poétique et satirique, l'écriture se met aussi au service d'une pensée authentiquement chrétienne à la recherche de Dieu sur des chemins inattendus. Jeanne Nabert, un auteur méconnu de la littérature universelle, qu'il convenait de faire connaître !

Nabaa is one of the most marginalized neighborhoods of Beirut; it is abandoned by the public authorities and therefore lacks basic service provision. Due to its own history and to larger socio-political events impacting it, Nabaa has become home to a nationally, ethnically and religiously mixed population. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize urban planning in the context of population transience. It uncovers how communities negotiate their differences and diversities in their everyday life. These issues are important because planners rarely propose policies for neighborhoods and communities with a high population turnover. Different lenses are used throughout this thesis to articulate the problems associated with transience of populations. The first one frames the study of the evolution of land ownership transfers and lot subdivisions, as recorded in archival documents, in a context that has led to the permanence of the population and to the disruption of the urbanization process. Another lens maps the socio-spatial relations between the various groups of Nabaa, revealing the conflicting identities and highlighting how they materialize in space. A third lens relates the characteristics that define population flux by looking at the duration of stay, locational mobility, ownership status, as well as comfort and knowledge of place. It addresses the creation of the various communities and what drives them to invest in their place of living. The fourth lens examines how inter-group relations are based on systems of coexistence and networks of support that are negotiated in the everyday life of residents, specifically in how they manage the visual culture of the place. Lastly, I build on these findings to propose recommendations for planners in Beirut.

Die Ausgaben der öffentlichen Hand für Beschaffungen zeigen, dass öffentliche Auftraggeber eine große Nachfragemacht ausüben können. Möchte man jedoch untersuchen, welche Potenziale eine verstärkte Beschaffung umweltfreundlicher Produkt- oder Dienstleistungsinnovationen hervorbringen kann, so ist es nicht ausreichend, nur die öffentliche Hand als einen Akteur am Markt zu untersuchen. Vielmehr müssen alle Marktakteure und die Rahmenbedingungen am Markt in die Betrachtung einbezogen werden. In dieser Analyse wird der öffentliche Auftraggeber als Akteur am Markt, speziell als Nachfrager, gesehen, der Einfluss auf die Entwicklung des Angebots konventioneller und umweltfreundlicher Produkte und Dienstleistungen hat. Wenn somit das Angebot von Produkten und Dienstleistungen im Mittelpunkt der Analyse steht, so bezieht sich die Betrachtung auch auf das Unternehmen, das diese Produkte und Dienstleistungen anbietet. Ziel der Marktanalyse ist somit, Potenziale für eine umweltfreundliche Beschaffung auf dem Markt für umweltfreundliche Produkte und Dienstleistungen bestimmen zu können.Hierzu wird zunächst die Marktstruktur im allgemeinen untersucht, anschließend werden ausgewählte Produktgruppen näher beleuchtet. La présente thèse articule les deux catégories fondamentales de la philosophie de la religion : le « moi » et le « divin », ce en dialogue avec deux interlocuteurs privilégiés, Fichte et Nabert, chez lesquels cette double thématique fut exploitée de manière originale et géniale. Fichte pense le « moi » comme le centre de l'intériorité et de la vie consciente de l'homme qui est une activité incessante vers l'unité de soi. Nabert, quant à lui, part du concept fichtien du « moi » pour élaborer la catégorie du « divin » ; celui-ci apparaît alors comme une demande de la conscience en sa structure fondamentale : elle le reçoit alors qu'il s'affirme à même le« moi». L'examen conjoint de de ces deux pensées apporte, nous cherchons à le montrer, une contribution majeure à la philosophie de la religion contemporaine : elle permet en effet à celle-ci d'avancer dans les réponses aux nombreux défis qu'il lui appartient de relever, soit : la redécouverte de certains préliminaires comme la conscience religieuse, le langage adéquat sur « Dieu », la question critériologique dans la désignation du « divin », le « témoignage » absolu. A cet effet, trois catégories principales sont sollicitées et éprouvées : I'« intériorité » et la place de I'« affectivité » dans l'expérience religieuse, enfin la « vérité » qui polarise toute réflexion philosophique sur la religion
The present thesis articulates two fundamental categories of the philosophy of religion: the « 1 » and the « divine », it is in the dialogue with two privileged interlocutors, Fichte and Nabert, where this double theme was exploited in an original and brilliant way. Fichte thinks of the « 1 » as the center of the interiority and the conscious lite of a man, which is an incessant activity towards unity of self. Nabert, on his part, starts from the Fichte's concept of the « 1 » and elaborate the category of the « divine »; this last appears as a demand of the consciousness in its fundamental structure: it the « divine » as the one that affirms itself in the « 1 ». The joint examination of these two thoughts brings, as we try to show, a major contribution to the contemporary philosophy of religion. lndeed, this contribution allows philosophy of religion to advance in the answers to many challenges that rise up before it: the rediscovery of certain preliminaries such as the religious consciousness, the adequate language about « Gad », the question about criterion in the designation of the « divine », absolute « testimony ». For that purpose, three main categories are solicited and approved: « interiority » and the place of « affectivity » in religious experience, and finally « truth » which polarizes all philosophical reflection on religion

Abstract:

Praktikoje dažnai sutinkama problema – ribotas trinties porų detalių tarnavimo laikas. Sąlyginai greitas triboporos „velenas – riebokšlis“ sudilimas sąlygoja alyvos pratekėjimą bei patekimą į aplinką ir be mašinos prastovos gedimo šalinimui bei su tuo susietų išlaidų, prisideda ir opi globalinė problema – aplinkos tarša, dažniausiai mineralinės kilmės medžiagomis. Šių trinties porų ilgaamžiškumo padidinimas padeda mažinti mašinos eksploatacines išlaidas. Atsižvelgiant į tai, aktualu stengtis padidinti dažnai gendančių detalių resursą, pasitelkiant įvairias tribotechnines medžiagas, įvairius paviršių apdirbimo technologinius metodus. Todėl išsikėlėme tikslą: ištirti radialinio sandarinimo trinties porų „velenas – riebokšlis“ tribologinį patikimumą, kai veleno paviršius yra skirtingų medžiagų bei panaudotos skirtingos tribologinės paskirties dangos. Buvo tirtas velenėlių paviršių (1. grūdinto plieno 45, 2. chromo dangos, 3. chromo dangos su FOLEOX danga, 4. plieno 45 apdirbto NABA) dilimas. Taip pat tirta FOLEOX įtaka šiurkštumui, kietumui bei įvertinti riebokšlių – velenų trinties momentai. Buvo nustatyta, kad chromuotų velenų su FOLEOX danga nusidėvėjimas mažiausias.
In practice is often found problem – limited life of friction pairs. Relatively fast tribopair “shaft – seal” wear leads oil leakage, what causes downtime for machine repair and associated costs, but also causes the global problem – pollution to the environment, mainly with mineral materials. Increase of these wear pair durability helps to reduce the exploitation costs. Considering, mentioned above is relevant try to increase the life of the parts who fails often by using different tribotechnical materials and different technological methods for surface manufacturing. Therefore we moved the goal: investigate the friction pairs of radial seals “shaft – seal” tribological reliability, when shaft surface is manufactured with different materials. Performed research of different shaft surfaces (1. tempered steel 45, 2. chromium surfaces, 3. chromium plated FOLEOX surface, 4. steel 45 manufactured with NABA). Was studied the influence of FOLEOX to roughness, hardness and also was evaluated shaft – seal friction torques. It was found, that chromium plated shaft with FOLEOX surface has lowest wear.

Abstract:

This dissertation examines some of the stories in 1 Sam. 16—25 with the particular focus placed on Saul, Doeg, Nabal and the “son of Jesse.” It seeks to discover new meaning in the structure as well as in the characters’ functions in the narratives by studying the stories synchronically and diachronically. One of the mysterious characters in 1 Samuel that has puzzled many a scholar is Nabal the Calebite. This study offers a new scrutiny of his person by paying closer attention to the elements of Nabal’s characterization in 1 Sam. 25 and by considering the role of the geographic setting in providing a contextual backdrop against which the actions of all of the characters of the narrative in general and Nabal in particular can be better understood. Additionally, in order to perceive who Nabal really was and to penetrate deeper into the nature of his abuses of the “son of Jesse,” an attempt is made to read the story against the background of the political environment during the latter period of Saul’s reign. Much in the same way this work studies the function of the character of Doeg the Edomite in 1 Sam. 21 and 22. A few elements of Doeg’s characterization contribute to the mystery of his person. This work aims to offer a solution to the puzzle of Doeg’s identity and explain the nature of his relationship with King Saul as well as his role in 1 Sam. 21—22 by focusing on three areas of his characterization: his Edomite origin, his particular business in Nob and his official status in Saul’s court. The phrase the “son of Jesse” is quite important in 1 Samuel and serves a particular purpose in the thematic development in the second half of the book. Viewed against the background of the Saul/David relationship, it underscores the superiority of the Davidic person in advancing the divine plan for the nation of Israel. Saul’s negative use of the phrase is a sign of his rebellion against Yahweh. Equally, Doeg and Nabal, who join the king in persecuting David, infuse the phrase with additional negative elements. The determination of the historical context for the making of the book(s) of Samuel is the key to understanding the multilayered messages embedded in the stories. All of the main characters in 1 Sam. 16—25 appear to be typical, as the events themselves are carriers of the deep meaning. This study makes an attempt to determine the purposes of the writer(s) of the book(s) of Samuel by paying closer attention to the various patterns in the structure of 1 Sam. 16—25. The roles of history and ideology in making these stories are also considered with the proposal that the making of the book(s) of Samuel after the Exile (5th c. B.C.) might have been instigated by the writer’s desire to create the context needed for further development of the messianic ideas.

Nabro volcano, situated to the east of the Afar Rift Zone, erupted on 12 June 2011. Eruptions at such off-rift volcanoes are infrequent, and consequently the plumbing systems are poorly understood. In this thesis I present post-eruption InSAR and seismic data to delineate the plumbing system of Nabro. I also investigate the temporal evolution of the system. I discuss my findings in reference to the tectonics of the Afar Rift Zone, off-rift volcanism and compare the findings to volcanoes world wide. I present 6 weeks of continuous seismic activity from an array of 7 seismic stations deployed following the eruption. For the analysis I locate and relocate hypocentres, determine focal mechanisms, calculate b-values and cross-correlate waveforms. I have relocated the hypocentres of 456 earthquakes and used the spatial pattern to interpret the local and regional crustal response to the eruption. The shallow earthquakes beneath Nabro's caldera delineate a NE-SW thrust fault which dips 45 degrees to the SE and extends across the caldera floor. This accommodates the stress change following the eruption, rather than movement on ring faults. The NE-SW fault plane is not associated with measurable surface deformation, indicating that it does not contribute much to the caldera deformation. A 10 km deep cluster highlights potential magma migration pathways directly beneath Nabro. On the flanks of the volcano, a linear pattern of earthquakes illuminate possible minor faults. There is also a cluster of earthquakes beneath Mallahle caldera at a depth of 6 km; the b-value for this cluster is 0.97 and is lower than that for clusters under Nabro (b=1.3). This implies that the earthquakes generated at Mallahle are not dominated by magmatic processes and occur in rock with a stronger rheology. Therefore, the seismicity I observed is likely due to changes in the stress field resulting from the subsidence at Nabro, and not caused by magma movement beneath Mallahle. TerraSAR-X and COSMO-SkyMed were both tasked to prioritise the acquisition of SAR data over the volcanic centre. During the following 15 months, Nabro was imaged 129 times by these satellites, with an acquisition every 5 days on average. I processed the 25 images acquired by TerraSAR-X between 1 July 2011 and 5 October 2012 on descending orbit 046, to create 34 interferograms. I complemented these with 19 images from ascending orbit 130 spanning 6 July 2011 to 10 October 2012 from ascending orbit 130, which I used to create 21 interferograms. I produced velocity ratemaps and time series using pi-RATE, showing subsidence of 25 cm/yr offset by 2 km to the SW of Nabro's caldera. COSMO-SkyMed satellite also imaged the volcano on a descending track between 26 June 2011 and 18 July 2012 within the Italian Space Agency project SAR4Volcanoes: a total of 64 images were acquired and used to produce 171 interferograms. I combined the InSAR data sets using a modelling approach to produce a detailed time series of the deflation of a Mogi source at 6.4 km depth. The time series shows that the volcano continued to subside for the entire period of observation, with the most rapid subsidence in the first 12 weeks, followed by subsidence at a slowly declining rate. I assessed the impact of atmosphere delays, using the outputs from ERA-Interim (ERA-I), a global atmospheric model computed by the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF), to correct each SAR acquisition. The atmospheric correction noticeably reduced the scatter in the time series, and removed the two atmospheric artefacts apparent in the COSMO-SkyMed time series. This result highlighted the importance of applying atmospheric corrections using independent sources of information. This contrasts with a standard approach of filtering in space and time which did not completely remove these atmospheric errors. Without the ERA-I correction the time series appeared to show pulses of recharge; with the correction continued subsidence is observed. I explore mechanisms that might explain the long-lived subsidence at Nabro volcano. In particular, I tested models of thermal contraction, degassing, fluid migration and viscoelasticity. Degassing is the most likely cause of deformation, although contraction due to cooling may also contribute. The long term post-eruption subsidence is unusual in comparison to other active volcanoes. I suggest that the low magma supply rate, combined with the high rate of passive degassing, induces an overall subsidence of the ground surface above Nabro.

Abstract:

La déformation plastique des minéraux des roches mantelliques joue un rôle-clé dans les phénomènes de convection globale à l’intérieur de la Terre. Cependant, les mécanismes de déformation des minéraux sont encore mal compris. Généralement, la déformation plastique est assurée par le mouvement des dislocations qui sont des défauts linéaires du cristal. La mobilité des dislocations est déterminée par la structure de coeur des défauts. Le modèle de Peierls-Nabarro auquel nous avons recours est un concept fondamental qui décrit la résistance qu’oppose le cristal au mouvement des dislocations au travers du calcul de la contrainte de Peierls et qui fournit également l’étalement du coeur de la dislocation dans le cristal. Développé il y a plus d'un demi-siècle, ce modèle connut un regain d’intérêts dans les années 70 avec l’introduction du concept de fautes d’empilement généralisées qui permet une description plus générale des coeurs de dislocations. La détermination de ces fautes consiste à calculer ab initio ou à l’aide de potentiels empiriques des barrières d’énergie associées au cisaillement d’un plan cristallographique donné dans une, deux ou toutes les directions. L’étude menée durant cette thèse s’est portée sur la détermination des structures de coeur des dislocations de la phase post-perovskite présente à la base du manteau mais également de la wadsleyite, de la forsterite et du diopside, trois minéraux majeurs entre la croûte et 520km de profondeur. L’utilisation du modèle de Peierls-Nabarro unidimensionnel dans un premier temps a été étendue aux trois dimensions de l’espace dans le but de modéliser des structures de coeur de dislocations de plus en plus complexes
Plastic deformation of minerals in rocks plays an important role in the global convection of the Earth’s mantle. However, the deformation mechanisms of minerals are not well-known. In general, plastic deformation is due to the dislocation motion. The dislocations are linear defects of the crystal. The mobility of the dislocation is governed by the dislocation core structure.Here, we used the Peierls-Nabarro model that is a theoretical model to address the issue of dislocation core modelling. This model provides also the lattice friction of the crystal against the dislocation motion through the calculation of the Peierls stress. Developed more than 50 years, the model has a great interest since the 70’s with the introduction of the generalized stacking fault (GSF) concept that provides a general description of the dislocation core. The determination of the GSF consists in the calculations of energy barriers associated with the shearing of the crystal in a crystallographic plane in one or more directions. In this study, we have determined the dislocation core structures of the post-perovskite phase present at the core-mantle boundary and of the wadsleyite, diopside and forsterite, major minerals from the crust to 510Km deep. We used the one-dimension formulation of the Peierls-Nabarro model in a first time that has been extended to three dimensions in order to model much more complex dislocation cores

Abstract:

En 1888, une communauté de peintres s’associe sous l’appellation « Nabis ». Ce terme, issu de l’hébreu, signifie à la fois les « prophètes » et les « initiés ». Paul Sérusier qui vécut sa rencontre avec Paul Gauguin comme une révélation est à l’origine de la formation du groupe. Une année auparavant, le symbolisme littéraire triomphe en France et suscite l’émulation parmi une nouvelle génération d’écrivains qui se cristallise autour de /La Revue Blanche/ et le /Mercure de France/. Entre les Nabis et les symbolistes s’établit dès lors un intense réseau de collaborations. Tant dans l’élaboration des décors et programmes du Théâtre de l’œuvre de Lugné-Poe que dans l’illustration d’ouvrages d’André Gide, d’Alfred Jarry ou encore de Jules Renard, les Nabis participent activement à la vie littéraire de leur temps tout en s’incarnant volontairement comme une avant-garde picturale. Les échanges nombreux entre peintres et écrivains sont alors loin de se limiter à de simples commandes. Ils aboutissent souvent à des amitiés durables comme celles qui unirent Gide à Maurice Denis et Jarry à Pierre Bonnard. La recherche s’interroge sur la motivation de cette nouvelle génération d’écrivains qui sollicita le groupe nabi, ainsi que sur la nature des projets qui les unirent. Les revues littéraires occupent une place importante dans le rassemblement entre les écrivains et ce groupe de peintres. La volonté d'identifier une aile picturale qui fasse écho dans le champ artistique au désir d'innover dans le champ littéraire stimule les sollicitations des écrivains de la seconde génération symboliste. Les Nabis, qui se méfient toutefois d'une soumission trop grande au fait littéraire, induisent par leurs développements artistiques et leurs théories les paramètres d'une nouvelle relation entre peintres et écrivains dans laquelle ces derniers ne recherchent plus la domination stratégique de l'art littéraire sur la peinture.

Outre ces considérations historiques, le rapprochement souhaité entre les deux groupes fut tel que la production littéraire ne put qu’être influencée par les théories des Nabis. La tendance "formaliste" représentée par ce groupe pictural a souvent conduit les chercheurs à prendre acte de l'autonomie tant du littéraire que du pictural dans les échanges entre Nabis et écrivains. Les influences sont cependant nombreuses de la peinture vers la littérature. Il est toutefois nécessaire de prendre en compte des écrivains oubliés par l'histoire littéraire, tels Romain Coolus, Gabriel Trarieux ou Louis Lormel, pour percevoir les effets de cette influence picturale. La reprise d'un dispositif de couleurs, exaltées ou déformées, le jeu poétique sur le thème de la ligne ou de l'arabesque fondent une recherche d'effet visuel dans l'écriture qui entend renouveler les images poétiques. Ce constat entre en résonance avec la rénovation picturale revendiquée par les Nabis. Des esthétiques communes entre peintres et écrivains, tournant autour des notions de synthèse, simplicité, de la référence à l'enfance ou à la fantaisie humoristique rassemblent Nabis et poètes qui les soutiennent dans une communauté d'initiés à l'art nouveau.
