Abstract:
The family Nabidae (damsel bugs) belongs to the infraorder Cimicomorpha and the clade Cimiciformes. In Poland, Nabidae is currently represented by fifteen species that belong to two subfamilies: Prostemmatinae and Nabinae. The first includes two species that belong to the genus Prostemma, while Nabinae are represented by thirteen species that are classified into two genera: Himacerus and Nabis. This paper summarizes the distribution of damsel bugs in Poland based on the literature data and new records. Maps of the distribution of each species in Poland and the Palearctic are

A remarkable new genus and species, Mecocollaris simplipodus gen. et sp. nov. is described from mid-Cretaceous amber. It is the second fossil record of Nabinae from Myanmar amber. The new species is distinguished from other nabids based on labial segment Ⅲ longer than the combination of segments I, Ⅱ and Ⅳ, hind tibia without clear row of setae corresponding to stiff setae associated with the Ekblom’s organ. By comparing extant species and fossil records of Nabidae, the evolution of the Ekblom’s organ of nabids is discussed.

The phylogenetic relationships inferred by the model-based analyses (ML and BI) were largely congruent with those inferred by the MP analysis in terms of the monophyly of most of the higher taxonomic groups and the species-level relationships. The following clades were recovered in all analyses: Cimiciformes; Nabida
