A new magnetically assisted wastewater treating system has been suggested for CrVI-contaminated waters using a novel and strong Cr-sorbent, namely, schwertmannite. The system contains a fixed-bed column, put in a high magnetic field, which was alternately packed with schwertmannite fine particles and iron wools as a ferromagnetic porous media. The obtained results confirm its high efficiency.

This thesis aims to help sailboat owners to decide a preferable NACA profile. A CFD comparison in terms of drag and lift coefficients between two NACA profiles have been applied on a typical fin keel. Each profile has been computed with different angles of attack to investigate the impact of small direction changes. ANSYS Fluent 13.0 is used to model the flow according to RANS k-epsilon model. This study sought to determine whether NaCl altered the plasma membrane proteins in alfalfa exhibiting differential NaCl concentrations, and whether caso4 modified the responses. Two alfalfa cultivars, Centurion and Condor, were grown in 0.5 strength Hoagland solution in a greenhouse. The cultivars were exposed to 0, 88, and 132 mM of NaCl alone and mixed with caso4 .H20 at 7 and 14 Mm caso4 for 3, 9, and 60 days. Dans ce travail de thèse, nous avons étudié les interactions entre un polyoside anionique (pectine) et des cations monovalent (Na+) et divalents (Ca2+, Zn2+, Ba2+, Mg2+) en régime dilué (c &lt; c*) et concentré (c ≈ c*). Ainsi, une pectine faiblement méthylée (LMP) a été étudiée en comparaison avec l’acide polygalacturonique (PGA). L’affinité de ces polyosides pour fixer les ions calcium diminue quand la concentration en NaCl augmente. Elle est plus élevée dans le cas du Ca-polyGal en comparaison avec Ca-LMP ; ceci peut être expliqué par la faible rigidité des chaînes observée pour le polyGal.
