Abstract:
Recent discoveries establish DNA and RNA as bona fide substrates for ADP-ribosylation. NADAR (“NAD- and ADP-ribose”-associated) enzymes reverse guanine ADP-ribosylation and serve as antitoxins in the DarT-NADAR operon. Although NADARs are widespread across prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and viruses, their specificity and broader physiological roles remain poorly understood. Using phylogenetic and biochemical analyses, we further explore de-ADP-ribosylation activity and antitoxin functions of NADAR domains. We demonstrate that different subfamilies of NADAR proteins from representative E. coli strains and an E. coli-infecting phage retain biochemical activity while displaying specificity in providing protection from toxic guanine ADP-ribosylation in cells. Furthermore, we identify a myxobacterial enzyme within the YbiA subfamily that functions as an antitoxin for its associated DarT-unrelated ART toxin, which we termed YarT, thus presenting a hitherto uncharacterised ART-YbiA toxin–antitoxin pair. Our studies contribute to the burgeoning field of DNA ADP-ribosylation, supporting its physiological relevance within and beyond bacterial toxin–antitoxin systems. Notably, the specificity and confinement of NADARs to non-mammals infer their potential as highly specific targets for antimicrobial drugs with minimal off-target effects.

Abstract:
The feelings, actions, and habits of the individual are the first steps in the development of culture. Another stage is the cultural development of societies formed by individuals living together. Culture is the third stage when the lifestyle, habits, artistic sensibility, and maturity of thought formed when many communities work together to form a community and intertwine as a community are all manifested as a kind of social thought. No mention of Nadars is found in Sangam Tamil literature. The state of the Nadars is known from the references of Christian missionaries in the early nineteenth century. At the beginning of the 19th century, social reform movements emerged in many places around the world, and there was awareness among the people of society. At that time, the status of the people of the Nadar community was backward in the social hierarchy. The word "wise men" is another name for Chanars. It is no exaggeration to say that in the social and religious hierarchies, the Chanars were slightly superior to the lower castes and a little inferior to the upper castes, and the status of the Nadars, who were denied entry into the temple to worship, due to the democratic renaissance social strata in today's era, the present state that this community has reached in the social strata and religious hierarchies is a pioneering society for the various ethnic groups that may exist in the world. In this article, we will see the importance of cultural elements such as economic resources, education, artistic development, morals, constitution and traditional elements of clan deity worship such as temple structure, worship methods, festivals, and social participation, etc. in making social reform ideas flourish.

Abstract:
The 1895 riot at Kalugumalai in the Tirunelveli District of Madras Presidency, South India, pitted the local Nadar community, then newly-converted to Roman Catholicism, against the main Hindu castes of Kalugumalai, particularly those associated with its Hindu temple and the Ettaiyapuram zamindari estate within which the town lay. It was the violent climax to a long-running dispute over the Nadars' right to take processions through the main streets, and one of the bloodiest episodes in a conflict which posed a severe threat to public order throughout South India in the late nineteenth century.

Abstract:
This article examines changes in the death rituals performed among Hindu Nadars in a South Indian village. It emphasises the importance of understanding ritual changes within their specific micro-level local contextual framework, including changing social structures at household and village level. This empirical evidence showcases how changing rituals connected to death reflect various adaptations through imitation, substitution and alteration of specific ritual elements and performants. It also identifies emerging class distinctions among Nadars and their connection with changes in rituals associated with death. This analysis of the changes depicts how Nadars use ritual actions in pragmatic ways, symbolically expressing and realising their aspirations for status enhancement through such ritual performances.

Abstract:
The diploma thesis introduces the concept of community foundations, the organisations focusing on universal development of a community that promote strategic philantropy within their activity, that also attempt to form jointly a cooperation platform between different sectors and that support nonprofit projects, including the cultural ones. The explanation of different understandings of the concept of community and the approximation of the problemacy of community development helps to comprehend the distinction in creation of those organisations in different contexts, in the American one where such model had been created and in the European context where it was later transferred. The analytic part examines the functioning of Czech community foundations. It concentrates on the activity and management of The Ústí Community Foundation that is the oldest and compares it to the model of a national organisation that focuses on community development, Nadace VIA in our case. The aim is to define possible potential and obstacles that hinder the development of Czech organisations which pursue comprehensive development of a community.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The existence of hormonal systems in the heart tissue especially that of natriuretic peptides, has conferred to the heart its property of endocrine gland in addition to its function of pump. The BNP is the second member of natriuretic peptides, mainly secreted by the ventricles in response to pressure overload or volume. This peptide is currently regarded as the hormonal marker of cardiac decompensation. In the cardiomyocyte, the BNP appears to be involved in modulating calcium homeostasis, regulating the contractile function of the heart. The purpose of our study is to assess on normal and hypertrophied cardiomyocites, the plasma concentration of BNP, the role of ventricular calcium channels in its secretion and the expression of this peptide and that of its receptors(NPR-A,-B and C). Similarly, we studied the autocrine effect of BNP on the rate of intracellular calcium, the density of the L-type calcium current(lcal) and the action potential(AP) in normal cardiomyocytes. By using different approaches, combining the techniques of ELISA, RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, cytofluorimetry and patch-clamp, we were able to show that L-type calcium channels modulates the secretion of BNP, that there is an over-expression of the NPR-A and NPR-C in cardiac hypertrophy, and that the BNP modulates the release of intracellular calcium, alters the AP and reduces the density of lcal in normal cardiomyocytes. In conclusion, this study has identified a reciprocal relationship between the BNP and calcium homeostasis, which could be responsible for autocrine and paracrine effects of BNP on normal cardiac function and myocardial remodelling in response to hemodynamic stress

Abstract:
In this paper, a non-linear active disturbance rejection controller (NADRC) is designed and originally applied to a non-linear one-degree-of-freedom electrostatic actuator (ESA). The imperfections of micro-fabrication and micro-packaging result in the modeling uncertainties of ESA. In addition, the ESA is inherently unstable due to pull-in phenomenon. So our control goal is to overcome the pull-in instability of ESA and achieve 99.99% of its full travel range despite of the presence of uncertainty. The NADRC consists of an extended state observer (ESO) and a feedback controller. Two kinds of ESOs are developed in this paper. They are high gain ESO (HG ESO) and the ESO with Fal nonlinearity (FAL ESO). The NADRC is independent of accurate model information, and therefore is a suitable controller for the uncertain ESA. The NADRCs with two different ESOs are simulated on the nonlinear ESA. A comparison study is conducted between both ESOs in terms of control performance and stability. The simulation results demonstrate the controllers with both ESOs reach our control goal successfully. While the NADRC with HG ESO generates larger control effort than the one with FAl ESO, the former is more robust against parameter variations and disturbance than the later.

Abstract:
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (NaDDBS) are used as surfactants to improve the dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) in cement mortar and fabricate piezoresistive carbon-nanotube/cement mortar composite. The piezoresistivity of carbon-nanotube/cement mortar composite with different content levels of MWNTs and different surfactants were explored under repeated loading and impulsive loading. Experimental results indicate that NaDDBS has higher efficiency than SDS for the dispersion of MWNTs in cement mortar. The response of the electrical resistance of carbon-nanotube/cement mortar composite with NaDDBS to external force is more stable and sensitive than that of carbon-nanotube/cement mortar composite with SDS. These findings indicate that the use of NaDDBS is an effective way for improving the dispersion of MWNTs in cement-based composite and fabricating MWNTs filled cement-based composite with stable and strong piezoresistive response.

Abstract:
For DEM estimation with stereo pair of images, a tie point matching is necessary between the two images, Nadir and Off-nadir viewing images. MTF degradations for both Nadir and Off-nadir viewing images are different so that matching accuracy is degraded in accordance with increasing of the off-nadir viewing angle. This proposed paper will discuss a MTF degradation due to atmospheric effect by means of an inverse Monte Carlo simulation together with an associated matching accuracy degradation. Further, a degradation on DEM estimation is also discussed.

A Comparative Study." In International Technical Postgraduate Conference 2022. AIJR Publisher, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.21467/proceedings.141.23.

Full text
Abstract:
Incorporation of chitosan into the bioplastic film could improve its mechanical properties. However, aqueous acidic solution is required to dissolve the chitosan. The aim of the present work was to explore the potential use of acidic NADES as the plasticizer as well as a solvent for chitosan without the addition of aqueous acidic solution. The film-forming solution consisted of sago starch as the matrix and chitosan as the filler was prepared by solution casting and evaporation method in the presence of acidic NADES. Acidic NADES was obtained by mixing choline chloride (ChCl) and lactic acid (LA) as the hydrogen bond acceptor and hydrogen bond donor, respectively. The mechanical properties and water uptake ability of chitosan-reinforced starch-based bioplastic films plasticized with acidic NADES were compared with the bioplastic films plasticized with conventional plasticizer, glycerol in the absence and presence of acetic acid solution. The results revealed that acidic NADES was capable of plasticizing the starch and dissolve the chitosan. Bioplastic film plasticized with acidic NADES achieved higher tensile strength and lower water uptake than the bioplastic film plasticized with glycerol in the presence of acetic acid solution. The interaction between chitosan and acidic NADES was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). FTIR results exhibited that the amide II band of chitosan in the ChCl/LA film had shifted, and its intensity had decreased to almost undetectable.

Abstract:
The 3Cat-4 mission is a 1-unit CubeSat platform that serves as a technology demonstrator and educational platform for students at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Promoted by the UPC Nanosatellite and Payload Laboratory (UPC NanoSatLab), the most notable subsystems that innovate in the nanosatellite scenario are (1) the Flexible Microwave Payload - 1 (FMPL-1) [1], a cost-effective payload to execute Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R), and L-band microwave radiometry experiments using a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software-defined radio (SDR) and (2) the Nadir Antenna Deployment Subsystem (NADS) [2], an in-orbit deployable high-directivity antenna used by Earth Observation (EO) payloads. This paper presents the findings of the 3Cat-4 mission during Phase D, the qualification and production phase of the project. Since the publication of the first introductory work for this mission in 2019[3], several sections of the subsystems have been redesigned and upgraded to correct previous design flaws or to meet new requirements. In addition, this paper addresses the educational perspective of this mission, analyzing its performance and usefulness in the aforementioned subject.
