AbstractFollowing Craw, Maclagan, Thomas and Nakamura's works[2, 7] on Hilbert schemes for abelian groups, we give an explicit description of theHilbGℂ3 scheme for G = 〈diag(ϵ, ϵa, ϵr−a)〉 by a classification of all G-sets. We describe how the combinatorial properties of the fan of HilbGℂ3 relates to the Euclidean algorithm.

Development of the concept of Euler characteristic, from the Euclidean geometry to the algebraic geometry is considered. A singular toric variety is studied within the framework of the algebraic geometry. Procedure of the blowing up of its singularities in terms of cones is represented by Hilbert scheme. Special cases of the blowing up of orbifold singularities of C3/Zn using Nakamura’s algorithm are performed. Hilbert schemes and their physical interpretation in terms of Euler characteristic are presented.

We propose new frequent substring pattern mining which can enumerate all substrings with statistically significant frequencies of their locally optimal occurrences from a given single sequence. Our target application is genome sequences, around a half being said to be covered by interspersed and consecutive (tandem) repeats, and detecting these repeats is an important task in molecular life sciences. We evaluate the statistical significance of frequent substrings by using a string generation model with a memoryless stationary information source. We combine this idea with an existing algorithm,

We introduce a novel logarithmic approach within the Baumgarte–Shapiro–Shibata–Nakamura (BSSN) formalism for self-consistently solving the equations of general relativistic hydrodynamics (GRHD) in evolving curved spacetimes. This method employs a “3 + 1” decomposition of spacetime, complemented by the “1 + log” slicing condition and Gamma-driver shift conditions, which have been shown to improve numerical stability in spacetime evolution. A key innovation of our work is the logarithmic transformation applied to critical variables such as rest-mass density, energy density, and pressure, thus pr

Abstract Background: Personalized neoantigen-based therapies are being actively developed with several clinical trials currently ongoing. The standard methodology to identify patient specific neoantigens relies on computational algorithms for analyzing mutation, expression, and HLA profiles from patients’ NGS data. However, clinical reports have thus far showed that the number of actionable neoantigens was not as high as originally expected. One possible reason is due to a lack of appropriate prediction models, especially for immunogenicity, which is largely hindered by a scarcity of training

A parameterized source and path effects inversion method based on the use of global optimization techniques is presented. We applied this method on velocity data from various seismic events collected between August, 2005 and April, 2007 in Mexico by the regional MesoAmerican Subduction Experiment (MASE) seismic network and other stations from the permanent Mexican Seismological Survey Network (SSN). The source, path and site parameters corresponding to the S wave amplitude spectra of 219 velocity seismic records (162 from MASE and 57 from SSN) were estimated by means of a generalized inversion

Abstract In this paper, by combining the direct method proposed by Nakamura with the numerical algorithms, the N-periodic wave solutions of two kinds of (2+1)-dimensional KdV-type equations are investigated, which are applied in fluid dynamics and plasma physics. The problem of solving N-periodic wave solutions can be transformed into a least squares problem and addressed by using numerical algorithms. The three- and four-periodic wave solutions of the KdV-type equations are obtained and some numerical results are presented. It is verified that the N-periodic wave solutions approach to the N-s

AbstractRecently, surface‐hopping ab initio molecular dynamics (SH‐AIMD) simulations have come to be used to discuss the mechanisms and dynamics of excited‐state chemical reactions, including internal conversion and intersystem crossing. In dynamics simulations involving intersystem crossing, there are two potential energy surfaces (PESs) governing the motion of nuclei: PES in a spin‐pure state and PES in a spin‐mixed state. The former gives wrong results for molecular systems with large spin‐orbit coupling (SOC), while the latter requires a potential gradient that includes a change in SOC at

One of the main tasks of structural biology is comparing the structure of proteins. Comparisons of protein structure can determine their functional similarities. Multigraph alignment is a useful tool for identifying functional similarities based on structural analysis. This article proposes a new algorithm for aligning protein binding sites called ACOTS-MGA. This algorithm is based on the memetic scheme. It uses the ACO method to construct a set of solutions, then selects the best solution for implementing Tabu Search to improve the solution quality. Experimental results have shown that ACOTS-

Abstract Atmospheric blocking entails a persistent, anomalous meandering of the jet stream that disrupts the eastward migration of transient eddies in the midlatitudes. Here we analyze a large number of blocking (and blocking-like) events in the Northern Hemisphere winter with the ERA5 reanalysis through the lens of vertically-averaged wave-activity budget. By applying a feature tracking algorithm, large-valued wave-activity anomalies that persist for 4 days or longer at a given location are identified as blocks, and block-centered composites are constructed for the wave-activity budget throug

Authors: Kai Wang & Maja Bucan ### INTRODUCTION High-density single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping arrays recently have been used for copy number variation (CNV) detection and analysis, because the arrays can serve a dual role for SNP- and CNV-based association studies. They also can provide considerably higher precision and resolution than traditional techniques. Here we describe PennCNV, a computational protocol designed for CNV detection from high-density SNP genotyping data. This protocol extracts allele-specific signal intensities from genotyping arrays, and then integrates

Introduction “Patterns are everywhere”, design researcher Anuradha Reddy told her virtual audience at the 2023 speaker series hosted by Brilliant Labs, a Canadian non-profit focussed on experiential digital learning and coding (Brilliant Labs / Labos Créatifs). Like other technology fora, this public-facing series offered designers an opportunity to highlight the accessibility of code. But unlike many such fora, Reddy’s code was worn on the body. Sitting at the now-standard webinar lectern, Reddy shared a flurry of images and contexts as she introduced a garment she called b00b, a bra that she
