Abstract:
We explain the origin of the mass for the Nambu–Goldstone bosons when there is a chemical potential in the action which explicitly breaks the symmetry. The method is based on the number of independent histories for the interaction of the pair of Nambu–Goldstone bosons with the degenerate vacuum (triangle relations). The analysis suggests that under some circumstances, pairs of massive Nambu–Goldstone bosons can become a single degree of freedom with an effective mass defined by the superposition of the individual masses of each boson. Abstract:
We demonstrate that when there is spontaneous symmetry breaking in any system, relativistic or non-relativistic, the dynamic of the Nambu-Goldstone bosons is governed by the Quantum Yang-Baxter equations. These equations describe the triangular dynamical relations between pairs of Nambu-Goldstone bosons and the degenerate vacuum. We then formulate a theorem and a corollary showing that these relations guarantee the appropriate dispersion relation and the appropriate counting for the Nambu-Goldstone bosons.

In nonrelativistic systems, when there is spontaneous symmetry breaking, the number of Nambu–Goldstone bosons [Formula: see text] are not necessarily equal to the number of broken generators [Formula: see text]. Here we use the method of operators for analyzing the necessary conditions in order to obtain the correct dispersion relation for the Nambu–Goldstone bosons.

We discuss the gauge theory approach to consideration of the Nambu–Goldstone bosons as gauge and vector fields represented by the Cartan forms of spontaneously broken symmetries. The approach is generalized to describe the fundamental branes in terms of [Formula: see text]-dimensional worldvolume gauge and massless tensor fields consisting of the Nambu–Goldstone bosons associated with the spontaneously broken Poincaré symmetry of the [Formula: see text]-dimensional Minkowski space.

Abstract:
According to a commonly held view of spontaneously broken symmetry in gauge theories, troublesome Nambu–Goldstone bosons are effectively eliminated by turning into longitudinal modes of a massive vector meson. This note shows that, this is not in fact, a consistent view of the role of Nambu–Goldstone bosons in such theories. These particles necessarily appear as gauge excitations, whenever they are formulated in a manifestly covariant gauge. The radiation gauge provides therefore the dual advantage of circumventing the Goldstone theorem and making evident the disappearance of these particles f

We derive the moduli space of the global symmetry in N=1 supersymmetric theories. We show that, at the generic points, it coincides with the space of quasi-Nambu–Goldstone (QNG) bosons, which appear besides the ordinary Nambu–Goldstone (NG) bosons when the global symmetry G breaks down spontaneously to its subgroup H with preservation of N=1 supersymmetry. At the singular points, most of the NG bosons change to QNG bosons and the unbroken global symmetry is enhanced. The G orbits parametrized by the NG bosons are the fiber at the moduli space and the singular points correspond to the point whe

Pseudo-Nambu–Goldstone bosons (pNGBs) are simple and elegant candidates for radiatively stable models of quintessence and inflation. In this brief review, we first examine the observational status of pNGB-driven quintessence and inflation. We then discuss the construction of theoretically as well as observationally viable models of cosmological pNGBs. Special emphasis will be given to the constructions of models compatible with the requirements from String Theory.

Abstract:
We analyze an extension of the Standard Model with an additionalSU(2)hypercolor gauge group keeping the Higgs boson as a fundamental field. Vectorlike interactions of new hyperquarks with the intermediate vector bosons are explicitly constructed. We also consider pseudo-Nambu–Goldstone bosons caused by the symmetry breakingSU(4)→Sp(4). A specific global symmetry of the model with zero hypercharge of the hyperquark doublets ensures the stability of a neutral pseudoscalar field. Some possible manifestations of the lightest states at colliders are also examined.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the idea that the Higgs scalar doublet of the Standard Model is a Goldstone boson arising from a spontaneous breaking of an approximate global symmetry, driven by new physics effects, otherwise unobserved. This would regulate the behavior of the Higgs potential with the aim of addressing the Standard Model hierarchy problem, limiting the validity of the Standard Model as an effective theory to processes at ener- gies below a cutoff around the TeV scale. After introducing this paradigm, also reviewing some literature, we describe few explicit models, minimal in some sense

The Standard model of particle physics provides a successful theory to understand the experimental results of the electroweak and strong interactions. However, it does not have a satisfactory explanation for the hierarchy problem. Many extensions of the Standard Model that solve the hierarchy problem result in new particles. We will study the phenomenology of vector-like fermions resulting in theories where the Higgs boson is typically a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson. In these theories we study the case where a heavy fermion will be heavier than a heavy gluon, and then the channel of a heavy fe

We are now entering the era of precision cosmology. Astrophysical and cosmological tests can be done at high precision to constrain physics beyond standard model. We make inferences on the running of the primordial perturbations spectral index and the effective number of neutrinos in the early universe and show an important statistical degeneracy in their posterior distributions. We calculate the cosmic birefringence spectrum due to a PNGB which may cause early dark energy, showing that the typical acoustic oscillations appear in this spectrum as well.
