This contribution reports the first records for Thailand of two colubrid snake species, both from the eastern part of the country’s northern region. A living specimen of Liopeltis frenatus (Günther, 1858) was observed and photographed in submontane forest at an elevation of 1700 m in eastern Nan Province. A fresh and intact road-killed (DOR) specimen of Cyclophiops multicinctus (Roux, 1907) was collected in the low hills of eastern Uttaradit Province. The total range of both species is plotted in locality dot maps. The locality and habitat of the new records in Thailand are discussed in biogeo

Temples have been important in Thai society for over 700 years. When the Sukhothai Kingdom (1238 -1438 AD) was the capital city of Thailand. The great King Ramkamhang had been accepted Theravada Buddhism to be the strongest religion in the land. Later Lanna kingdom (1296 - 1558 AD) was founded in the mid-13th century by King Mangrai. Indeed, King Ramkamhang was friends with King Mangrai, and King Ngam Muang of Phayao Kingdom (1094–1338 AD), it is possible Theravada Buddhism had been introduced to the kingdoms during the reigns of these three Kings. Indeed, the Lanna Kingdom has accepted Therav

The rate of deforestation declined steadily in Thailand since the year 2000 due to economic transformation away from forestry. However, these changes did not occur in Nan Province located in northern Thailand. Deforestation is expected to continue due to high demand for forest products and increased agribusiness. The objectives of this paper are (1) to predict land-use change in the province based on trends, market-based and conservation scenarios, (2) to quantify biodiversity, and (3) to identify biodiversity hotspots at greatest risk for future deforestation. Spiny Frog <i>Quasipaa</i> is a genus of frogs that belongs to a relatively poorly known group. Most of the species distribution has been recorded in China; however, a few incidences of identification have occurred in the eastern part of Indochina. To date, only one species (<i>Quasipaa fasciculispina</i>) of <i>Quasipaa</i> has been recorded from Chanthaburi and Trat Provinces in south-eastern Thailand.Based on recent fieldwork conducted in northern Thailand, we report a new record of <i>Quasipaa verrucospinosa</i> from Doi Phu Kha National Park, Nan Province at an altitude of 900–1000 m a.s.

Consequently, an innovation platform has initiated a network of stakeholders, including farmers, government officers, researchers, and private sector actors, who meet regularly to coordinate the development of long-term solutions.
