<em>This paper explores the evolution of Tamil grammatical traditions with particular emphasis on &ldquo;Nannool&rdquo;, a book that represents the records of Tamil linguistic scholarship. Tolkappiyam is the earliest Tamil grammatical treatise that stands as a foundational text of the historic Tamil intellectual background. This was shaped by the socio-cultural variations over centuries and has brought about the emergence of &ldquo;Nannool&rdquo;, about 1300 years after &ldquo;

Abstract:
Chlorophyll is vital for photosynthesis to produce sugars and other useful biochemical products in green plants. However, the molecular effects of chlorophyll deficiency in Chrysanthemum are largely unknown. In this study, we identified a bud sport mutant chrysanthemum belonging to the variety ‘Nannong Binyun’, which has yellow branches. Plant physiological studies have shown that the yellow color is revealed due to chlorophyll loss. RNA extracts of yellow and green tissues were analyzed using high-throughput RNA-sequencing, and a total of 11,649 tissue enriched unigenes that respond to chloro

This study is a continuation of our earlier reports on the identification and mapping of the Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) strain SC3 resistance gene present on chromosome 13 (LG F) of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). We used a combination of fine mapping and transcriptome sequencing to discover the candidate genes for SMV resistance in Qihuang-1. To fine-map the resistance gene, near-isogenic lines (NILs) from a cross between Qihuang-1 (resistant) and Nannong 1138-2 (susceptible) were genotyped with simple sequence repeats (SSR) and insertion and deletion (indel) markers to identify recombinati

Abstract Nannoplankton biostratigraphy of the Campanian - Maastrichtian 870 metre thick argillaceous subsurface sediments below the Lowest trap of Narsapur area, Krishna-Godavari Basin has been presented in the paper. These infratrappean sediments are assigned to Micula nurus and Arkhangelskiella cymbifomis zones of Late Maasbichtian age and undifferentiated CC 19-CC 23 nannoplankton zones of the Campanian age. Occurrence of global Late Maastrichtian marker Micula murus just below the lowest trap is significant and considered to be important short lived nanno-event in Late Maastrichtian times.

ABSTRACT Machine-learning based classifiers have become indispensable in the field of astrophysics, allowing separation of astronomical sources into various classes, with computational efficiency suitable for application to the enormous data volumes that wide-area surveys now typically produce. In the standard supervised classification paradigm, a model is typically trained and validated using data from relatively small areas of sky, before being used to classify sources in other areas of the sky. However, population shifts between the training examples and the sources to be classified can lea

Phytophthora root rot, caused by Phytophthora sojae (P. sojae), is one of the most devastating diseases limiting soybean production worldwide. microRNAs (miRNAs) play major roles in regulating plant defense against pathogens. To understand the roles of soybean miRNAs during P. sojae infection, we analyzed four small RNA libraries from two soybean germplasms before and after P. sojae isolate JS08-12 infection. The cultivar Nannong 10-1 was resistant to JS08-12, whereas the 06-070583 line was susceptible to JS08-12. In total, 528 known and 555 putative novel miRNAs in soybean were identified fro

Plant photosynthesis is mainly dependent on leaf color, and this has an impact on yield. Mutants lacking in chlorophyll have been analyzed to gain insight into the genetic processes involved in photosynthesis, chloroplast development, and chlorophyll metabolism. A yellow-to-lethal mutant, ytl, was selected from the M6 generation of the 60Coγ ray irradiation-treated soybean cultivar Nannong 1138-2. The mutant exhibited reduced chlorophyll content, with the thylakoid structure disrupted. Segregation of the cross between Williams 82 (W82) and ytl indicated that a recessive allele controlled yello

Soybean mosaic virus (SMV), belonging to the genus Potyvirus of the family Potyviridae, has a relatively narrow host range almost exclusively confined to leguminous hosts. While disease management through genetic transformation can be an effective approach, soybean remains recalcitrant to routine genetic transformation. In this context, it is important to identify new hosts for SMV that can be used to develop effective transgenic resistance strategies. Transformation in Nicotiana benthamiana is simple and highly efficient; hence, here we demonstrate the infectivity of SMV strain SC7 in N. bent
