Starting from an introductory analysis os consumer logic, based on the contributions derived from Social Sciences, this study develops the argument that consumer society benefits largely from the persistence in the psyche of an omnipotent narcissist ideal which points to an original state of completeness, synthesized by the first experience of satisfaction. The core purpose of this work was, therefore, to detect which psychic elements are responsible for sustaining the social arrangement represented by consumer society, emphasizing the subjective consequences that result from the process of the constitution of a subject within a consumer cultura whilst, on the other hand, provide psychic support consistent with its maintenance.

Full textA God concerned with humanity reflects on the matter of today´s religious experience. Its starting point and main concerned is the current urge of a new religiosity whose influx into Christianity has been subtracting the dimension of solidarity with the fellow man from the concrete following of Jesus Christ. Indeed, it is about the increasing influence of narcissism and its other face, indifference, which mutilate the Christian faith. By following the seejudge-act scheme, the present dissertation puts such religiosity against Edward Schillebeeckx`s comprehension of the experience of God lived by Jesus of Nazareth as a servant and an announcer of the kingdom of God. Its objective is to answer the question through the contribution of that eminent theologian to overcome the narcissism and the indifference identified in contemporary Christianity. In order to conclude, it finally emphasizes the analysis of Jesus´ experience of God as an experience of a God concerned with the humanity: this is the fundamental contribution of Schillebeeckx to overcome narcissism and indifference and, therefore, to rescue the whole life experience of the Christian faith as love for God and love for the fellow man.

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) are persons with power in decisions. Some CEOs are known as "narcissistic", which means that they exhibit grandiose, self-admiration and obsession with power. This dissertation studies the characteristic of a narcissistic CEO. To do that, we investigated certain characteristics of CEOs, such as age, gender, professional experience, education, marital status, income level and self-confidence. Moreover, we also investigated some characteristics of the companies that they lead, such as sales, company size and ROA. To do that, a sample of Portuguese registered companies was used, collecting the data from an online questionnaire. The results indicate that are a lot of characteristics that differ narcissistic CEOs from non-narcissistic CEOs. Our studies demonstrate that narcissistic CEOs are characterized by younger CEOs, CEOs with lower experience, individuals that consider themselves as self-confident, females that are also more narcissistic than males. Moreover, narcissistic CEOs receive less than non-narcissists with an income up to 20,000€, single individuals are more narcissistic, followed by divorced persons and people with only a bachelor's degree are the most narcissistic compared with person that have master or PhD degree. Moreover, regarding the companies, results show that high narcissism CEO tend to lead companies with lower ROA (less than 10%), smaller companies (revenues up to 2,000,000€ and employees up to 10 persons).

The aim of this thesis is to reflect upon educational actions whose purpose is to promote “democratic sociability” – one of the directives of schooling in Brazil – from the investigation on the impasses related to fraternal bond and the assertion that school can be understood as a societal system associated with what we call the "socialization of narcissism". For this, two lines of work are being developed. The first one, dedicated to the investigation on the impasses of fraternal bond and the vicissitudes of phratries, starts from the debate between Einstein and Freud in 1932 on "psychological factors of weight" that act in the sense of hindering the dream of a life in common less marked by hatred and segregation. The aim here is to recover this debate and reconstitute the Freudian myth of the origin of culture to support that the further development of a fraternal ethic requires that we take into account the insurmountable antagonism on which the relation among fellow creatures is based The second line of work seeks to rescue from the theories of Claude Lefort and Cornelius Castoriadis some notions that help us to understand what the democratic invention implies for the political experience of the West. As to the third line of work, what is sought is to highlight the necessary character of the participation of the fellow creature in the process of subjectivation of the human being. If, at the beginning, the study of Freud's socio- anthropological works helped to provide a framework of references for the interpretation of ambivalences and the fragility of the fraternal bond, the objective is now to show how the conflict of the subject with the fellow creature can be understood through the analysis of the identifying processes required in this process of subjectivation. In order to achieve this, the essay Le stade du miroir by Lacan and some writings by Clarice Lispector are used.

Full textThe thesis that we present here wants to point out "the care" as the element that allows glimpse one characteristic of the human nature not enough remarked, namely, vulnerability. This indication has a political significance which we also want to bring to light. Saturated by the dictate of a mercantile system that favours the mobility and monopolizes the bitter of existential meanings, we live forgetting ourselves, the other and our surroundings. This compels us to go into the reasons that make possible this configuration, entering the fray with one of the problematics that has characterized the path of the philosophy since the beginning of the Modernity, namely, the role of the individual as epistemological category and the resultant subjectivity. If the subjectivity is the field where our alienation is expressed, be able to bring it to light, by how it is currently showed, it open us to the political act of the awareness and, at the same time, to a philosophical exercise. Following, to be able to compare the alienation figure with the neurosis figure not only allow us to get closer to its comprehension in a parallel way of how are we living, but allow us to take over of our own strategies that, today, converge with the directionality imposed by the market, and, finally, enables us to rescue our responsibility for our way of life. Having traversed the voyage of our alienation will allow us to face better their critic and comprehend, deeply, some alternatives that collect vulnerability as something that opens a care attitude. To finish with, this task of questioning itself links with the practical and forgotten dimension of the philosophy that we want to rescue through the figure of the ascetics and which push us to do a task of frustration for our narcissist subjectivity.

Full textThe concept of narcissism has suffered many changes since it was introduced by Freud in 1910. Taking into account its polysemic dimension, the concept of narcissism is presently understood in several ways: as a state of development, as a structure or as a psychopathological characteristic. This study aims to analyze the movie The Black Swan from the point of view of psychoanalysis, focusing in particular on the narcissistic structure of the main character. In this sense, we proceeded to a systematic review of the literature and then analyzed the film through the method of Applied Psychoanalysis. Analysis procedures have been developed, using content analysis in order to create thematic categories: quality of object relationships, life narcissism, death narcissism and superego nature. With this study it is concluded that the quality of the primary relationship, the self representation, the lack of differentiation between the self and the and object, as well as the ideal of tyrannical self influenced the dynamic of the narcissistic structure of Nina, the main character. There was a lack of cohesion in Nina’s self representation resulting from an alienated subjectivity in the other's desire

Full textWe aim to contribute to the analysis of the concept of narcissism in the Freudian thought from three studies: (1) An examination of the first elaborations on narcissism, divided into two stages: (i) the origin of the term within the first descriptions and theories of narcissism, (ii) its entry into the Freudian theory. The central idea is, through a diachronic view, to track the appropriation and highlight the changes that Freud makes into this concept to adopt it in his metapsychology. For this, we will at first study how the first theorists of narcissism - Alfred Binet, Havelock Ellis, Paul Näcke and Richard von Krafft-Ebing - conceived this notion, and then think about the Freudian appropriation on three sources: in the correspondence with Jung, in the record of the Minutes of the Psychoanalytic Society of Vienna and in the Freudian texts from 1910 to 1913. (2) A study of the Freudian text On Narcissism: an introduction of 1914 - the central text for narcissism - taking into account three aspects: (i) the internal logic of the text, (ii) the changes that the introduction of narcissism brings to the Freudian theory, (iii) some consequences of this concept inside the Freudian thought. (3) An analysis of the concept of narcissism of minor differences - unfolding one of the several developments that the narcissism concept has had since 1914; it is a synchronic analysis that aims to collate and relate three moments of this notion: such as it first appears in The Taboo of Virginity of 1918, the way it is retaken in Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego of 1921, and its final version in Civilization and Its Discontents of 1930. In short, the first study aims to consider the origin and the entry of narcissism in the Freudian thought; the second is related to the narcissism in metapsychology; and the third, narcissism as a social phenomenon

Full textAmong all the mythical figures that adorn and reveal the "fin de siècle" literature and mentality in France and Great Britain, Narcissus in favor of its affinities with the essence, the logic and the structure of eschatological phenomenons, set himself apart. Narcissus, the central figure of transition periods, or moments of pre-metamorphosis, thanks to his metaphysical fertility, divided and unified self being exhibited in his complexity, makes it possible a better knowledge of man and the universe. Narcissus, an identifical myth, brings a new enlightenment not only to the discomfort, anguish and question of man but also to the problematic ambiguity of the "fin de siècle". Therefore, a detailed study of the narcissus myth evolution leads thus, to recognize in this figure, then in narcissism, an answer to the human condition on the threshold of modernity

Abstract: The Shindo Renmei moviment (Subjects Path League) arised during the Second World War, inside the japanese colony in Brazil. Initially, it was conceived to celebrate the japanese Empire virtues and to cultivate patriotic values among the colonials. Its first activities date from 1942, however its from 1945 that the organization became consolidated and accomplished its most polemic actions. With the end of the war, intensified, inside the colony, the antagonism between the ones who defended the japanese victory (¿victorianists¿) and the others who recognized the north american triumph (¿defeatists¿). Evidently the Shindo Renmei members were ¿vitoristas/victorianists¿. What made the moviment so controversial were the menaces and homicides against the ¿derrotistas/defeatists¿. The incomprehension over such violence has restricted the organization to a simple outbreak of ultra-nationalist fanaticism. This interpretation of the moviment became common in the social imaginary and still can be found in a large part of the literature on this theme. In an attempt to contribute towards a better comprehension of the subject, the present research aims to offer a different approach to the moviment. We intend to interpret the Shindo Renmei as a narcissistic defense. In this way, we will work with aspects of history, of Japan and of japanese immigrant's life in Brazil, which have contributed towards the development of narcissistic structures. When the organization denies the conclusion of the war and attacks the ¿derrotista/defeatist¿ side, it makes use of a reality refusal mechanism, in an attempt to preserve the psychic structure of its members. A ¿Narcissus¿ that, because of not admiting antagonisms towards his illusory reality, was even able to kill what was different to him
