Abstract:
This article sets out to outline the evolution of the Translation Studies in Bulgaria from 1970 till the beginning of the 21st century. It aims to provide a brief overview of some pioneering articles, the studies that marked the development of translation theory from 1970 to 1990 and some works from the post-totalitarian period. In 1976 the Publishing House Narodna kultura lays the foundation stone for Translation studies, creating the collection “The Art of Translation”. From the 1970s, the Theory and Practice of Translation are included in the courses offered by the Faculty of Western Languages of Sofia University. If the key word defining the translating activity in Bulgaria from the Second World War to the 1990s is confinement, the one that qualifies its state at the beginning of the 21st century is openness. Very controlled in the years 1970 – 1990, the translatological reflection frees itself from the ideological pressure at the turn of the 20st and 21st centuries.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to present the dilemmas of sociopolitical system based on the program concepts of people’s movement parliamentary parties from Central and Eastern Europe. The period of analysis covers first years of the systemic transformation, when people’s movement parties from Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania had their parliamentary representation. The research is based on methodological assumptions of content analysis and comparative method. The categorization key included issues concerning: postulated political system; economic order; main directions of foreign policy. People’s parties stressed the need to build democratic states, based on the tripartite separation of power, including citizens’ civil rights. They opted for a free market economy but permitted state interference, especially in the agricultural sector. In strongly collectivized states the privatization of land was a crucial issue. People’s parties also called for changes in international alliances of their countries.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Cultural image of Ukraine. Bulgarians as a national minorityThe text is a review of Jerzy Hatłas’ book Bulgarians in the Northern Azov Sea region. The forgotten Diaspora. This review provides a brief overview of the seven chapters contained in the book. The book that is reviewed raises relevant and important issues of differentiation of the social world, migration, and sense of separateness and alienation proceeding from them, but also brings up questions of creating a community despite the differences experienced in the daily life. This book contributes to a better consideration of the phenomenon of national minorities in its various manifestations (linguistic, cultural, social, political) by people belonging to the world of science and social experts (politicians, public leaders, and activists). The book can be useful in a teaching process at different levels and in various specialties of education in different countries of Central Europe. Kulturowy obraz Ukrainy.
