Abstract:
Leadership theories have underpinned significant leadership studies and practices which span decades. Despite the plethora of research on different leadership theories and styles, there is minimal research exploring the relationship between previous leadership theories and the ethical leadership style. Previous research has shown that the ethical leadership effect goes above and beyond other leadership styles and theories as the latter lack an exclusive ethical focus. Therefore, this paper aims to address the identified gap from a preliminary perspective of previous leadership theories as compared to the ethical leadership style. In addition, ethical leadership is the ‘only’ leadership style that is part of the King IV code and report on Corporate Governance in South Africa. The study is built on previous research conducted on leadership theories in relation to ethical leadership and corporate governance as per the King IV report. The method employed involved conducting a historical narrative review of research from more than 60 relevant sources obtained from different databases and search engines on this topic. The paper found that a relationship exists between historical and contemporary leadership theories, contemporary theories and ethical leadership style, and ethical leadership and corporate governance. Stemming from these results, a conceptual model of the relationship between leadership theories, ethical leadership style, and Ubuntu ethics is shown. It is hoped that different types of organizations in South Africa will benefit from this review paper since most need to comply with the King IV report and code. The focus should be on ethical leadership as it promotes better employee performance and positive organizational outcomes.

Farace, Stefania, Tom van Laer, Ko de Ruyter, and Martin Wetzels. "Assessing the effect of narrative transportation, portrayed action, and photographic style on the likelihood to comment on posted selfies." European Journal of Marketing 51, no. 11/12 (2017): 1961–79. http://dx.doi.org/10.1108/ejm-03-2016-0158.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to assess the effect of narrative transportation, portrayed action and photographic style on viewers’ likelihood to comment on posted consumer photos. Design/methodology/approach Integrating visual semiotics and experiments, this research examines the influence of consumer photos on viewers’ likelihood to comment on the visualised narrative. One pilot, three experimental and a content analysis involve photos varying in their narrative perspective (selfie vs elsie) and portrayed content (no product, no action or directed action). The authors also test for the boundary condition of the role of the photographic style (snapshot, professional and “parody” selfie) on the likelihood to comment on consumer photos. Findings Viewers are more likely to comment on photos displaying action. When these photos are selfies, the effect is exacerbated. The experience of narrative transportation – a feeling of entering a world evoked by the narrative – underlies this effect. However, if a snapshot style is used (primed or manipulated) – namely, the photographic style appears genuine, unconstructed and natural – the superior effect of selfies disappears because of greater perceived silliness of the visualised narrative. Practical implications Managers should try to motivate consumers to take selfies portraying action if their aim is to encourage electronic word-of-mouth. Social implications Organisations can effectively use consumer photos portraying consumption for educational purpose (e.g. eating healthfully and reducing alcohol use). Originality/value This research links consumer photos and electronic word-of-mouth and extends the marketing literature on visual narratives, which is mainly focused on company rather than user-generated content.

Abstract:
Gundala (2019) is the latest Indonesian action film that was commercially successful, won national and international awards, and even ranked second in viewership in 2019. This study aims to identify the genre characteristics of Gundala. This paper utilized Nick Lacey's genre analysis, which analyzes films based on the repertoire of elements (narratives, characters, settings, iconography, and styles). The research shows that Gundala adopted the action genre characteristics, especially in the narrative, character, and style. However, the setting and iconography of the film have been modified to fit the local cultural context. Hence, the distinctiveness of Indonesian films can expand similar studies in film genres.

Abstract:
This paper examined the narrative structure, language style, and chronology of Aşḥāb Al-Kahfi story in Al-Qur'an. The research data were obtained from Al-Qur'ān. The Qur’anic verses which told about Aşḥāb Al-Kahf were collected in Surah Al-Kahf (18) verses 9-26. The results showed that the narrative structure of this story consists of orientation I, sequence of events I, coda I, complication, orientation II, sequence of events II, orientation III, coda II, orientation IV, and resolution. These structures are interrelated and form a logical, holistic, and beautiful story unit that fulfil all elements of Mark Anderson’s and Kathryn Anderson’s narrative-structure concepts. Meanwhile, the dialogue style dominates in the presentation of stories that are in accordance with the journey of the Prophet’s da’wa. The dialogue style used in the presentation of the story is calm and acceptable. This style is intended to defend the call of the prophet's da'wa and refute people’s rejection in the middle Meccan period through the theme of monotheism value and the mention of Allah’s powers. This study contributes to putting the theory of stylistics and narratology in the reading of story verses. Hence, this paper suggests a further study of the story verse covering the narrative structure’s meaning and function as well as aspects of the beauty of pronunciation and story verse meanings.

Abstract:
Purpose Narrative accounts of subjective consumer experience are, in one form or another, an essential of qualitative market research. Ethnographic research and ethnographic poetry have obvious connections with the literary form, yet this form has had limited application. Based on the assumption that poetry as a craft is a somewhat limited narrative in ethnographic studies and specifically in studies that attend a consumer vulnerability agenda, this paper aims to contribute to a literary-based perspective. This paper advocates for ethnographic poetry as a consideration of disseminating qualitative data for those researchers immersed in ethnographic research with diverse and vulnerable populations. Design/methodology/approach The paper draws on a range of extant literature to draw out the distinguishing features of ethnographic poetry, in which to situate ethnographic narratives of two studies of consumer vulnerability. To assist in this, scholarly discussion in the paper is interposed with a series of interludes written in the ethnographic poetic style. These interludes are intended to epitomise merits of such an interpretive research approach. Findings This is a research paper seeking to draw attention to, and develop a relatively neglected research approach, ethnographic poetry. Researcher reflections, drawn from two ethnographic studies, suggest some tangible consequences of this research to generate further discussion of consumer vulnerability. Research limitations/implications The overall aim is to extend discussion of the particular qualities of ethnographic poetry that might contribute to better serve qualitative research approaches, when conducting ethnographic research. Practical implications The paper advocates a stronger focus on ethnographic poetry to liberate the imagination of researchers and readers alike to enrich and compliment the analysis of narrative forms of qualitative data drawn from an ethnographic approach. Originality/value This paper addresses the concept of ethnographic poetry, stemming from narrative-based qualitative research, which will be entirely new to many researchers and practitioners. It suggests tangible benefits that this new perception could bring to ethnographic research.

William Faulkner, once won the Nobel Prize in 1950 presentation speech, is considered as one of the grandest Southern American novelists, because he is seemingly the "unrivaled master of all living British and American novelists". A Rose for Emily is one of Faulkner's most excellent short novels. Besides, the narrative of spaces in this novel is changeable and subtle, and the research on it has always been both difficult and hot. This paper attempts to interpret A Rose for Emily from a narrative style, to explore how Faulkner constructed the narrative of the novel, and then to analyze the characters of Emily in the novel.

Abstract:
Abstracts Erlebte Rede (free indirect style) is a narrative technique used to present reports of consciousness which to some extent blends direct and indirect speech. It is characterized by the interaction of specific linguistic markers which allow the presentation of a character’s point of view while simultaneously maintaining the narrative frame. A character’s thoughts are expressed in the third person, indicative and narrative tense giving the impression that the voice of both the narrator and the character somehow overlap. This contribution summarizes the research on erlebte Rede, focussing on German. Regarding narratological aspects, I discuss linguistic problems specific to identification and analysis of texts which employ erlebte Rede. This paper primarily addresses the use of erlebte Rede in fiction, although it is also found in non-fiction.

Abstract:
In exploring the viewpoints and methodology of text linguistics, the paper presents the results of the author?s research into the role of syntactical units in relation to the units of semantic nature in the formation of the complete structure of a given text as a unit at the level of language pragmatics. The research was done by means of interpretation of language samples in the field of two functional styles, with a focus on defining the role of syntactical structures in the formation of bounded (situational) discourse. The object of examination is (a) the communicative language, by which term the author understands the language of the speaker?s/writer?s report in the casual practice of communication, here - in the practice of school lectures/textbooks in the field of primary curriculum in the domain of natural and social sciences. The author does this by applying the typical instruments of our text linguistics in the analysis of chosen textbook discourse samples. In addition, the author presents his interpretations of syntactical structures? role in the formation of (b) the narrative discourse/text, by applying the same instruments of text linguistic analysis, here - on the selected sample taken from the work of a typically Belgrade-style example of literary language written by Slobodan Selenic. Naturally - all these function in their respective segments of definitions or descriptions (portrayals).

Abstract:
The paper aims at identifying, explaining and illustrating the affordances of “creative nonfiction” as a style of writing social science. The first part introduces creative nonfiction as a method of writing which brings together empirical material and fiction. In the second part, based on illustrations from my ethnographic research of European “crisis reporters,” written in the form of a novel about a fictional journalist, but also based on a review of existing social science research that employs a creative method of writing, I identify several main affordances of creative nonfiction in social-scientific research. In particular, I argue that creative nonfiction allows scientists to illustrate their findings, to express them in an allegorical way, to organize data into a narrative, to let their pieces of research act in the social world, and to permeate research accounts with self-reflexive moments. I also discuss some apparent negative affordances: challenges that creative nonfiction poses to readers and to the institutionalized academic discourse. Finally, I suggest that writing about sociological problems in the style of creative nonfiction can help to produce more engaging and engaged texts, and I discuss the ethical implications of the approach.

Abstract:
The metamodernist mood of the modern era increasingly clearly correlates with the transformation of literary methodologies and methods of reading, analysis, and interpretation of literary texts. The study of the genre specificity of the novel is one of the essential segments of the latest scientific studies, given its flexibility and significant textual representation in various national works of literature. This paper offers a critical review of the key stages in the history of the study of the novel as a literary genre, as well as shows the possibilities of understanding the poetic aspects of the author’s style. The material of the research relies on the novels by the Canadian writer Lucy Maud Montgomery and the US writer Eleanor Porter. Both authors belonged to the same historical and cultural era; their work has many typological parallels due to objective factors. At the same time, the modernist worldview was embodied in each stylistic manner in its own way. Comparison of individual styles makes it possible to carry out a typological analysis within a particular genre with access to the study of common sources of image creation, as well as modeling the interpretive paradigm of metamodernism in the projection on the literature of different historical periods taking into account national characteristics. At the same time, the research opens up the prospect of expanding the methodological horizons of narratology for its progress beyond its “boundaries”: outside of literary studies, in a significant context, as well as in space outside of fiction.

Abstract:
The article focuses on the problems of literary translation, mainly the problems of conveying the individual style of a young adult literature author. The relevance of this topic stems from the insufficient analysis both of the notion of the individual style itself and the interconnection of the individual style and the genre of a literary text. The paper discusses the core theoretical concepts of the individual style as well as the main characteristics of young adult literature, and examines the specific features of transfering the style elements of a young adult author. The paper is based on the novel “The perks of being a wallflower” (1999) written by an American author S. Chbosky, and its translation into Russian made by E. Petrova in 2013. The purpose of the research is to identify some dominant elements of the author‟s style and to evaluate the degree of their adequacy in the Russian translation. In the course of the study, the following problems of conveying the individual style of a young adult literature author were identified: a specific narrative structure, the usage of colloquial vocabulary; a number of specific syntactical stylistic devices. The paper examines a set of examples illustrating these features of the author‟s style and analyses their translation into Russian. The analysis reveals that the author‟s individual style is often not adequately transferred, thus, alternative variants of translation that convey the key elements of the author‟s writing style may be provided. As a result, a conclusion is made that the individual style of a young adult literature author has its own peculiarities, and its appropriate preservation requires not only a general understanding of the genre‟s specific features, but the skills of a linguostylistic analysis of the text and the ability to translate certain lexical means and stylistic devices that an author can use at all language levels.

Abstract:
Abstract In his paper on Lysias, Dionysius of Halicarnassus characterizes the effect of Lysias’ enargeia as the power through which the listener “seems to see the things shown and to be almost in the company of the characters whom the orator introduces”. The capacity to give the audience a sense of being present at the narrated scene, vividly imagining the people, places, and actions, is one the most powerful instruments in Lysias’ persuasive toolbox. The ‘sense of presence’ created by Lysias’ narrative style will be approached as a form of what in cognitive literary studies has become known as immersion, a concept that is defined by in terms that are remarkably similar to Dionysius’ characterization of Lysias’ style, as “the experience through which a fictional world acquires the presence of an autonomous, language-independent reality populated by live human beings” (Ryan 2015, 9). Analyzing Lysias’ narrative techniques through the lens of their immersive power is interesting for several reasons. Psychological research has found evidence that highly immersed readers are more likely to be persuaded by the point of view implicit in a narrative than readers who are less immersed. Approaching Lysias’ style in terms of its immersive qualities also allows us analyze the text in terms of a wide and diverse range of linguistic and narratological devices: not only the strategic use of graphic (“vivid”) details, but also the use of verbal tense and aspect, vocatives, direct speech, the narrator’s visibility, and the narrative’s spatial and temporal organization, handling of perspective (focalization), and its capacity to raise suspense and to engage the audience’s attention and emotions.

This paper proposes a general method to make animated presentations of architectural designs, based on cinematographic techniques. Particularly, it reviews theoretical documenttion about filmmaking as well as several productions that exhibit remarkable locations. The proposed method first comprises of a planning stage, with the narrative and graphic formulation of the presentation. Next is an elaboration or adjustment stage for the digital modelling of the design, and finally, there is an animation production and editing stage. Likewise, the research sets up a computer implementation of some activities and characteristics, and experiments in the programming of camera movements for architectural animations. In general, this work suggests focusing on the communication of the qualitative features of the design, instead of the elaboration of the digital model, and on emphasizing the visual diversity, graphic style and narrative construction of the presentation.

Abstract:
This paper begins with a brief description of research stating that adolescents in schools generally pursue reputations that are either nonconforming or conforming. This is usually achieved through the development of goals specific to each type of reputation. Essential to the maintenance of a reputation is the recruitment of an audience. It is also proposed by researchers that intervention by school personnel becomes crucial when trying to counteract the negative effects of a nonconforming Using a case study, this paper investigates the use of Narrative Therapy with a 15-year-old male student in a high school who had developed a nonconforming reputation. A three-year-old nonconforming reputation is put through a Narrative framework that challenges “its” goals and reason for being. As the sessions progress, there is a sense that this young person is beginning to move towards a more preferred sense of self that is potentially different from the one set-up by the nonconforming reputation. This is achieved by using a Narrative style dialogical approach that shows how language censures and as well as its ability to promote (liberate) chosen behaviour. Apart from the development of a more preferred sense of self, an interesting outcome from using this approach has also been the unique way restraint works within the school.

Abstract:
<p style="background: white; margin-left: 0.5in;">This paper seeks to disrupt the dominant narrative of victimhood associated with the single mother family status. There are many barriers and difficulties associated with this status such as economic insecurity and political and social stigma. However, there are also many rewards and possibilities that make this family status desirable and rich with possibilities. Single mother families challenge the dominant paradigm of heteronormativity found within the notion of traditional nuclear family households. Drawing on critical feminist and queer theoretical perspectives and qualitative research from my doctoral studies, I will discuss how participants created a new narrative for themselves and their children. In particular, I focus on single mothers engaged in critical pedagogy and curriculum and community activism to seek connections with others who also viewed their families from a strengths perspective. “Single mothers by choice” establishes itself in its own right as a formidable alternative to dominant notions of the “family”.</p>

Abstract:
Representations of Aboriginal Australian peoples as genetically predisposed to sporting prowess are pervasive and enduring perceptions. This rhetoric belongs to a larger narrative that also describes a peculiarly Aboriginal style of play: full of flair, speed and ‘magic’. Such imagery has informed a common perception that, in many team sports, Aboriginal athletes are biologically more suited to playing positions characterised by pace, trickery and spontaneity, rather than those that utilise leadership acumen and intellectual skill. There has been a great deal of academic research exploring how such essentialised and racialised representations play out for Aboriginal athletes. In this paper, however, we extend that research, examining how racialised representations of Aboriginal athletic ability affect Aboriginal coaches. Premised on interviews with 26 Aboriginal Australian coaches, we argue that representations of Aboriginal athletes as naturally suited to speed and flair, rather than leadership and sporting-intellect, help maintain an environment that limits opportunities for Aboriginal Australians seeking to move into sporting leadership roles, such as coaching. This paper sheds light on the ways in which racialised representations of Aboriginal athletes feed into a settler colonialist narrative that stymies opportunities for aspiring Aboriginal professional coaches, and speculates on the limitations of this approach, in challenging the political hegemony of settler colonialism.

Abstract:
Visual sensors provide us with a wealth of multimedia data; one of the core parts of VR technology is to present people with a real and immersive simulation environment; the application of this technology makes the human narrative to achieve visual transformation and further strengthens the central position of visual culture. This paper studies the field of visual culture from two aspects of visual sensor and VR. In this paper, the HSV color model models task processing problems in visual sensor networks using separable load theory and studies ways to seek optimal task scheduling strategies to minimize the completion time of the visual task. This paper mainly uses literature research method, questionnaire survey method, and statistical analysis method to design a model image output process to explore the application of visual culture under the development of visual sensor and VR and analyzes the development status of film, game, and cultural tourism industry VR in the field of visual culture. Questionnaire data show that compared with traditional video games, more people chose games under the application of VR technology for entertainment; in VR game experience, more than 70% are satisfied with game color and style, operation form, scene design, and experience of VR game itself, which shows to some extent the role of visual sensor and VR in visual culture.

Abstract:
Due to digital transformation, technology advancements, telework, we can no longer pretend that traditional work offers high incentives and efficiency, but on the contrary, traditional work falls behind each year, deeming organizations and individuals to adopt the agile work. Rapid technological developments have altered the way businesses operate, with the goal of producing viable solutions in an environment fraught with unpredictability. This paper is a theoretical narrative review on the general topic of agile work. The present paper addresses the issue of determining the best international practices for implementing agile methodology at work, carrying out a theoretical narrative review. Basing on literature on present-day theory the authors make an attempt to explain the implications of implementing agile methodologies into organizational culture, summarize existing approaches to classifying the main effects on implementing agile methodologies at work, consolidate and document best international practices for agile methodologies development among employers. After defining the concepts of agile method tailoring and agile maturity, the data obtained in the theoretical narrative analysis reveal that the implementing agile methodologies have a direct impact on management style, on teams, on learning environments, and on employee’s mental health. An overall conclusions and discussions section is presented along with the personal opinion of authors. This work is intended to open a post-pandemic agile work research methodology, since there are no systematic approaches to this topic.

The present paper analyses the introduction to the novel La cognizione del dolore by Carlo Emilia Gadda, written in the form of a dialogue by its author and entitled L'Editore chiede venia del recupero chiamando in causa l'Autore. The introduction provides a comprehensive account of the main motifs of this novel and, at the same time, of Gadda’s work in general; its main point being a polemic against the objections of critics, who perceive the writer as “baroque” and grotesque, i.e. a writer who uses an overly complex style and narrative structure and represents reality in a distorted way. Drawing on recent critical studies as well as on research carried out on Gadda’s contemporary critics, the paper focuses on certain aspects of the text, such as its genesis, structure and its central motifs.

Abstract:
The present research featured a functional comparative analysis of egocentric language units in contemporary Russian translated narratives, namely six Russian translations of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The study was based on parallel corpora within the Russian National Corpus and a set of digitized translations. The research objective was to present the classification of egocentric units applicable to the analysis of translations, as well as to describe the ways of combining various linguistic methods of studying egocentrics in translated narratives. Egocentric units were studied within several semantic clusters: actualizing (deictic), evaluative, epistemic, modal, and interactive. Using the heuristic method, the authors found and counted the contexts containing egocentric units of a certain type within the parallel corpora. The inductive method made it possible to reveal the trends based on the data obtained. The hypotheses were verified using the deductive method. The research was based on wide narrative contexts and took into the account the writing style, the genre and composition of the text, the use of egocentrics in the target language, and the individual translation strategies. The paper focuses on the lexical markers of uncertainty added by the Russian translators of Mark Twain. They are often used as additional markers of focalization in Russian translations. On the one hand, this phenomenon deals with specific ways of foregrounding subjectivity in the Russian language; on the other hand, it reveals the strategies of building-up suspense applied by individual translators.

Abstract:
The paper represents an attempt to outline Grigory G. Gagarin’s artistic interests and his influence on creating one of the national style variants in the 19th -century Russian Empire: the Russian -Byzantine style. This article is not only a selection of theoretician’s quotes, but also an attempt to create an appropriate background and clear context for his theses. Moreover, the paper is to constitute a coherent outline of his thoughts having an impact on the creating of the national style and the search for architectural inspiration from selected periods of history.
An interesting fact is that because of Gagarin’s first attempts to develop consistent norms and determinants of inspiration, among others, for architects and artists, he created foundations to formulate in the future a clear theoretical assumption of the Russian -Byzantine style. What is more, the theoretician did not avoid the confrontation of Russian art with Western European culture. Gagarin tried to not only indicate the relationships between the evolution of specific styles in art and architecture, but also their mutual influences and consequences.
In the paper’s narration another important thread in the theoretician’s activity is also mentioned: his attitude to the cultural heritage of the North and South Caucasus. In the 19th century, the region’s territories formed the southwestern borders of the Russian Empire, and moreover they were the destinations of Gagarin’s diplomatic activities for the Romanov dynasty and the Russian Empire.
The paper is an introduction to further research not only into Gagarin’s position in the process of creating the national style in the Russian Empire in the19th century. Furthermore, the research will bring up his functioning in the Western European artistic-cultural society of that time and his attempts to find mutual inspiration in Western and Eastern Europe.

Abstract:
This paper examines aspects of divisional plays appearing in Kim Eun-seong’s plays <Yeonbyeon Mom>(2011), <Mokran Sister>(2012), and <Warriors of Sunshine>(2016). There are two specific research goals. First, it is to argue that the author’s perspective on division is different from the previous division plays. Second, it examines the characteristics of the dramatic figuration of the target plays. As a result of the discussion, There are two common themes that appear in these plays. First, these plays imprison themselves in the harsh reality of this land. And critically reveal the loss of humanity that is being identified with the vulgar reality. Second, these plays call for reflection and cognitive transformation of the reader/ audience necessary to confront this reality and overcome it. These plays show several characteristics to dramatically shape the subject. To summarize, First, the characters show a certain comedy. And new perspectives can be found in points that cause comedy. Second, these plays is a characteristic that appears in the narrative composition. These plays shows a unique narrative composition and development in which the time and space of the narrative are mixed, and furthermore, the reality and the surreal are mixed. I considers these characteristics appearing in his plays are to be the basis for the popular success of his plays in matters of style. Third, The characteristic that appears in his plays is the power of narrative lead by the object. In particular, objects such as handkerchiefs/hammers/ notebooks/mirrors have unique meanings in the narrative. Also, they play a certain dramatic role. The author’s stories remain at the point of ‘pain and compassion’. There are also critical views. However, this paper paid attention to the fact that he introduces char-acters who reflect on their reality and strive to show the possibility of overcoming division in his works.

Abstract:
While Lithuanian schools face an influx of repatriated pupils post-Brexit and due to the COVID 19 pandemic, there is still no clear framework to support schools in integrating the increasing Cross Culture Kids (CCKs) and its school community and beyond. This paper examines the application of autoethnography as a pedagogical strategy for school agents to foster identity narrative spaces in classrooms and as a research method for investigating identity formation in educational contexts nurturing cross-cultural competencies in Lithuanian classrooms. This piece is part of the preparation work conducted for the upcoming serial cultural dialogue workshops with CCKs between 15-18, which borrows from the TARMAC ‘multicultural story’ framework (Ward and Keck, 2021). While autoethnography engages individuals in cultural-analysis-style interpretations of self-reflection, this process importantly aids the location of selves in one’s own narratives by exploring the self-other, personal-political, and self-society didactic- for all the stakeholders in the dialogue- such as the workshop facilitators/researchers and the CCKs and its non-CCK counterparts. This leads to the implications of philosophical and practical education approaches exploring identity and intercultural communication in alternative and non-traditional forms (Wall, 2006). Overall, this paper contributes to the formation of cross-culture transitional care awareness and strategies implemented in Lithuanian schools.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine how companies that characterise their leadership style as plural, shared or distributed narrate their actions and practices in online blog texts. Design/methodology/approach The data consist of online blog texts published by seven Finnish IT companies. The analytical strategy draws on both thematic and structural approach to narrative analysis. The blog texts were analysed thematically to uncover different aspects of plural leadership. The analysis revealed a narrative pattern consisting of three categories that explain why and how companies implemented plural leadership. Findings The first category in the narrative pattern describes the motivation for engaging in plural leadership. The second category explains how the companies broke down existing hierarchies in order to create new flexible work roles. The third category describes how the organisations sought to create a communal culture and a strong sense of trust using symbols, material objects and spaces. Research limitations/implications The study contributes to leadership research that emphasises post-heroic leadership conceptualisations. The narrative pattern provides future empirical studies a framework for analysing plural leadership practices in different organisational settings. Whereas this study sheds light on the ways in which organisations and their leadership practices can be investigated using online data, traditional organisational ethnographies can make a further contribution to this line of research. Practical implications Implementing plural leadership in organisations can lead to informal power plays. Attention should be paid on to how plural leadership evolves in flat hierarchies and promotes community building. Originality/value Company webpages have rich information on how companies operate and perceive themselves. They provide yet another window for observing organisational activities. This study makes a novel contribution to how plural leadership is practiced and conceptualised in online blog texts.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe how organizational members became storywriters of an important process of organizational change. Writing became a practice designed to create a space, a time and a methodology with which to author the process of change and create a learning context. The written stories produced both the subjectivity of practical authors and reflexively created the con/text for their reproduction. Design/methodology/approach A storywriting workshop inspired by a processual and participatory practice-based approach to learning and knowing was held in a research organization undergoing privatization. For six months, 31 organizational members, divided into two groups, participated in writing one story per week for six weeks. The written story had to refer to a fact that had occurred in the previous week, thus prompting reflection on the ongoing organizational life and giving a situated meaning to the change process. Findings Storywriting is first and foremost a social practice of wayfinding, that is of knowing as one goes. Writing proved to be an effective practice that involved the authors, their narratives and the audiences in a shared experience where all these practice elements became connected and through their connection acquired agency. Originality/value Narrative knowledge has been studied mainly in storytelling, while storywriting by organizational members has received less attention. This paper explores storywriting both as a situated, relational and material practice and as the process that produces narratives which can be considered for their content and their style.

Abstract:
Analysis of the stylistics features of any author has been very interesting technique to explore themes depicted by him/her. This paper examines a short story of Alice Munro titled ‘The Eye’, from stylistic perspective. ‘The Eye’ is the opening tale of the set of four stories, in a style of memoir that is titled as ‘Finale’. This set of four stories appears in her collection of short stories titled “Dear Life” (2012. ) The paper presents the stylistics analysis of the story keeping the stylistic approach in focus suggested by Leech and Short in Style in Style in Fiction (2007). The story is analyzed stylistically in terms of character and characterization, point of view and speech, thought and writing presentation. Stylistic study of any text effectively provides comprehension of the base of the text particularly and its evaluation generally (Peer 2008). In order to carry this out, the method of textual analysis of Qualitative research approach is conducted. The end of the analysis is to have a turnout of a deeper comprehension of the relationship between style and literary aesthetics in ‘The Eye’ by studying the stylistic patterns behind Munro’s narrative, in order to find out her creative approach. Paul Simpson maintains, “Stylistics serves to inquire into the language of the text and on a broader level to investigate creativity in the use of language (2004:3). The endeavor made in the paper explores that Munro has an ambivalent and complicated technique of presentation, both structurally and thematically. Here, the argument is that the stylistic analysis of the story reveals that Munro has high artistic approach towards the short story; she narrates the fiction with such an ambiguous approach that it welcomes more than one interpretations of the story.

Abstract:
Co-experiencing psychotherapy of F. Vasilyuk is considered in the context of the linguistic turn in social sciences in the second half of the twentieth century. The linguistic turn meant the change of research style under the influence of increased attention to everyday language. Language is viewed as a form of social action not so much representing reality as constructing it. The linguistic turn in psychology has led to the development of such theoretical and methodological approaches as discursive psychology, narrative psychology, narrative psychotherapy and to the development of such language-oriented methodologies as discourse analysis, narrative analysis, conversation analysis. The main idea of the article is that co-experiencing psychotherapy is a successor of this movement and contributes greatly to the development of language-oriented methodologies in psychology and psychotherapy. It is argued that in co-experiencing psychotherapy the unique methodology of discourse analysis has been proposed and much attention is paid to meaning-making and sense-making processes by means of everyday language. The paper also offers a new interpretation of lifeworlds as stylistics of narrative contemplation of experience. Based on the conversation analysis of training and counseling sessions held by F. Vasilyuk it is argued that the empathetic counseling strategy created in co-experiencing psychotherapy involves repeated reformulations of client statements which open up possibilities for changing the scale of an individual’s experiencing by means of employing the aesthetics of different genres.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to outline the concept and creation of choose-your-own-adventure flip-books for use in teaching information literacy in higher education. Design/methodology/approach This is a conceptual paper that examines how to use choose-your-own-adventure style flip-books to teach knowledge practices from the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Using constructivist theory and active learning methods, the authors discuss how flip-books offer a hands-on learning strategy to build on students’ knowledge and experiences while promoting learner-centered interactions. Findings As academic libraries evolve from teaching bibliographic instruction via lecture to information literacy through student-centered learning, activities such as the one discussed in this paper provide a way for librarians to better engage with students. Creating curriculum based on educational theory and learner-centered approaches is necessary for librarians to use to optimize classroom time. Practical implications This paper provides a practical and pragmatic evaluation of how to incorporate narrative flip-books into information literacy instruction, providing an additional instructional tool for information literacy practitioners. Originality/value The choose-your-own-adventure story narrative has been used as a learning tool through all levels of education, including in university settings, but there is a lack of research on their use in information literacy instruction. This paper provides insight on how this teaching method and teaching tool can be used by librarians in the information literacy classroom.

Against the background of rising rates of obesity in children and adults in the USA, and modest effect sizes for obesity interventions, the aim of the present narrative review paper is to extend the UNICEF care model to focus on childhood obesity and its associated risks with an emphasis on the emotional climate of the parent–child relationship within the family. Specifically, we extended the UNICEF model by applying the systems approach to childhood obesity and by combining previously unintegrated sets of literature across multiple disciplines including developmental psychology, clinical psychology and nutrition. Specifically, we modified the extended care model by explicitly integrating new linkages (i.e. parental feeding styles, stress, depression and mother's own eating behaviour) that have been found to be associated with the development of children's eating behaviours and risk of childhood obesity. These new linkages are based on studies that were not incorporated into the original UNICEF model, but suggest important implications for childhood obesity. In all, this narrative review offers important advancements to the scientific understanding of familial influences on children's eating behaviours and childhood obesity.

Abstract:
In this article, we describe an inclusive public engagement event held in the ITV television studios with an associated social media programme under the #justcare hashtag. The event explored the intersection of race, mental health and marginalization as a critical issue of social justice, drawing on research evidence and lived experience. This event (led by people of colour for mixed attendance) was designed as a 'breakthrough environment'. The breakthrough environment approach is developed from the integration of community practices and experiences in the African context and Western organization development (OD), and disrupts the traditional structures of event design and knowledge generation to create a psychologically safe space for truly generative conversations around contentious topics. This paper gives an overview of the emerging literature on racial trauma, covers the principles behind the event design and provides a predominantly narrative and visual account of the experience in order to capture the richness in evidence and insight (in contrast with carrying out an analysis). In providing this style of account, the traditional structure of a typical research paper has been disrupted as part of an explicit intent to decolonize knowledge practices to give full and entitled voice to those most impacted by these social justice issues.

Abstract:
Sustainable tourism (ST) has recently become the mainstream of the tourism industry and, accordingly, has influenced contemporary tourism research. However, ST is not just theories about indications and contraindications of global travel, but also a specific language that needs mastering to take sustainability work forward. In other words, what research receives recognition depends on the proficiency in how the articulation in research proposals and within assessment under the heading of “research impact”. The aim of this paper is to investigate how tourism research gains recognition within research evaluation, by investigating the national research appraisal in the United Kingdom (Research Excellence Framework). By using content analysis, we disentangle the rhetorical choices and narrative constructions within researchers’ impact claims. Our findings suggest that researchers adopt a rhetorical style that implies causality and promotes good outcomes facilitating ST. However, the structure of the assessment format enforces an articulation of sustainable research impact without stating the methodological limitations of that such claim. Therefore, the rhetorical choices of ST researchers merely represent a proxy indicator of the claimed impact. We conclude that the lack of rigor in accounting for the impact of ST research may inadvertently restrict attaining ST.

Abstract:
The aim of this research was to describe the short-short story (al-qisah al-qasirah jidan) of Morocco in Ha’al-Hurriyah anthology by Muhammad Said ar-Rihani by using structural approach. This approach is selected to show the text objectively. This paper analyzed the short short story using the theory of Rimmon-Kenan naratology and Qalyubi stylistics. It tried to find out how the storytelling models in the short-short stories entitled Haitsuma Kana al-Zulmu Fatsamati Watani and Ghidza’ al-A’mal in the anthology are and how language style are used in both short-short stories. The results of this research show that for storytelling, both short-short stories uses narrative and dialogue technique, each of which lead to the centralization and compaction of the theory. Both short-short stories contain structural aspects of metaphorical repetitions whereas in the imaginary realm, there are characteristics of title selection, the use of majaz (metaphor) and itnab (hyperbole).

Abstract:
Policy-makers and managers have always used a wide range of sources of evidence in making decisions about policy and the organization of services. However, they are under increasing pressure to adopt a more systematic approach to the utilization of the complex evidence base. Decision-makers must address complicated questions about the nature and significance of the problem to be addressed; the nature of proposed interventions; their differential impact; cost-effectiveness; acceptability and so on. This means that Cochrane-style reviews alone are not sufficient. Rather, they require access to syntheses of high-quality evidence that include research and non-research sources, and both qualitative and quantitative research findings. There is no single, agreed framework for synthesizing such diverse forms of evidence and many of the approaches potentially applicable to such an endeavour were devised for either qualitative or quantitative synthesis and/or for analysing primary data. This paper describes the key stages in reviewing and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative evidence for decision-making and looks at various strategies that could offer a way forward. We identify four basic approaches: narrative (including traditional ‘literature reviews’ and more methodologically explicit approaches such as ‘thematic analysis’, ‘narrative synthesis’, ‘realist synthesis’ and ‘meta-narrative mapping’), qualitative (which convert all available evidence into qualitative form using techniques such as ‘meta-ethnography’ and ‘qualitative cross-case analysis’), quantitative (which convert all evidence into quantitative form using techniques such as‘quantitative case survey’ or ‘content analysis’) and Bayesian meta-analysis and decision analysis (which can convert qualitative evidence such as preferences about different outcomes into quantitative form or ‘weights’ to use in quantitative synthesis). The choice of approach will be contingent on the aim of the review and nature of the available evidence, and often more than one approach will be required.

On writing rasm has found an inconsistency because use of two rasm at once, that is rasm ‘utsmānī and rasm ’imlā’i. While the qirā’at used is the reading of Imām ‘Āṣim narrative H}afś. Based on the characreristics of that writing, MKIG is a mushaf that has a lot of influence from mushaf writing tradition among javaness boarding school. Other side, MKIG is assumed can represent a copy of the mushaf based only on memorization, because found a several corrupt in the form of errors in writing letters and vowels which is exist in almost every surah.

International Journal of Linguistics 10, no. 1 (2018): 123. http://dx.doi.org/10.5296/ijl.v10i1.12751.

Abstract:
The present paper means to study the impact of gender on specified textual aspects of the translated text limiting to degree of naturalness, explicitation, content, register, vocabulary, terminology, translation brief and orientation to target text type based on Robinson’s model of Criterion-referenced rating scale. Jane Auston’s world famous classic work, Pride and Prejudice along with two Farsi translations rendered by a male and a female translator compose the corpus of this study. Assuming that particular textual aspects are more likely to come under the influence of the translator's gender, the basic assumption was that there is a possibility that the male translator would not transfer the minutes of the narrative of a female writer. The findings revealed that the female translator in terms of Cultural Specific Items and terminology, triumphs on explicitation, in terms of language, style and tone, she triumphs on ethics of formality and totally she has more footnotes and more omissions. The male translator, more informal in tone and style, utilizes more slang equivalents. The male translator has very few number of footnotes and no omissions. However, in terms of transference of meaning there appeared no meaningful difference between the two translators. In other words, the differences were on the level of form and aesthetic aspects rather than meaning and message. The present paper was based on one case study. Doing the same research on more cases, the findings have the potentiality of generalization.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide insights on the interconnectedness of the Muslim community, madrasah and memorisation in realising the process of embodiment. Design/methodology/approach Our anthropological study was conducted in 2011 at a prominent madrasah for higher education in England. The madrasah has approximately 400 adult learners that are studying Islamic studies programme. For our anthropological study, the notion of Islamic teaching and embodiment was integral to each other and was illustrative of a long educational tradition of the pedagogy of Islam. For this research, we follow a sensory narrative style in expressing our descriptions. Findings The findings provide an insight into the nature of memorisation for embodiment. The research suggests that the madrasah was teaching memorisation with a purpose to support the process of personal embodiment. Moreover, what we also see when considering madrasah life is that the notion of the “walking Qur’an” endures, and it transcends in the form of locally flavoured articulations of embodiment. To reiterate, the Islamic approach to memorisation for embodiment was found to be a practice relevant to all of us, as individuals, communities and institutions, reflexively engaging in the world around us. For the British madrasah, this was seen to be pivotal to the Islamic pedagogy shaped by the interplay between orality, facilitating memorisation and the didactic approach towards the sacred. From our observations, embodiment has a physical and spiritual dimension where prophecy is retained and is inherent to existence and daily madrasah practice. Originality/value Our narrative experiences bring a spiritual order to the pedagogical matters of memorisation represented by the inseparable nature of knowledge and the sacred. The interweaving of experiential narrative with a theoretical perspective brings forth our understanding towards the nature of memorisation for embodiment.

Abstract:
The relevance of the article is determined by the fact that V. G. Rasputin’s prose is mostly researched from literary and methodological perspectives; less attention is devoted to its linguistic analysis. Despite the abundance of studies focusing on individual aspects of the short story "French Lessons", its holistic linguo-stylistic analysis has not been performed yet. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive description of the linguistic and stylistic specific features of the literary work in question. The research relies on the contextual, aesthetic-stylistic, linguo-poetic methods as well as level-by-level analysis. The paper identified a complex of linguistic means. On the one hand, these means are directed at the sphere of the environment depicted by the writer, and in which the main plot events unfold. On the other hand, they help to create the images of the author, the narrator, and the characters. The paper concludes that V. G. Rasputin made extensive use of lexical phraseological and grammatical means characteristic of the colloquial style to depict "fictional time". The characters’ specific speech features are reflected in the "author’s register" of the narration. The stylistic leitmotif of the story that determines both its composition and its imagery is a complex interaction of different viewpoints (those of the author, the adult narrator, the child-narrator, the characters). "Narrative time" is an amalgamation of colloquial and stylistically neutral means, a frequent occurrence of the adult narrator’s free indirect speech employed to assess the protagonist’s actions and emotions.

Abstract:
Problem setting. One of the distinguishing features of the modern era is the marginal and dubious nature of explanations of complex social realities. Cognitive and symbolic specifics of conspiratorial thinking, marked by a sense of predictability, regularity and explicit simplicity, contribute to the development and dissemination of political mythology.
Recent research and publications analysis. In recent decades, concepts have been actively used in the body of social science works: paranoid style, conspiratorial narrative, power discourse, unstable ontologies, crisis of production of meanings, conspiratorial worldview. The latest scientific search takes place in the context of abandoning the strict framing of conspiracy theories in favor of a pluralistic approach that combines epistemic, existential and social dimensions of the subject.
Paper objective. The aim of the article is to try to identify the features of conspiracy in the latest conditions of cultural development.
Paper main body. The article shows the features of modern conspiracy theories in terms of its paradoxical stability, information and cognitive attractiveness. It is emphasized that the conspiracy discourse determines the peculiarities of the conspiratorial mentality, influencing, in particular, the existential aspects of human life. The consequences of the influence of conspiracy theories can be not only feelings of alienation from politics or radicalization of society, but also the blurring of semantic boundaries between conspiracy theories and more respectable forms of socio-political criticism. Such features make it possible to distinguish positive and critical understandings of conspiracy theory, as well as to outline the main vectors in further theoretical studies of conspiracy theories. Among the distinctive features of conspiratorial meaning formation are the cultural-temporal universality, the paradoxical combination of irrational and rationalist ways of perception, and others. The peculiarities of conspiratorial thinking in comparison with the radical-constructivist specifics of the explanation of the world, as well as in the communicative-narrative logic are analyzed. The difference between conspiratorial meaning formation and the picture of the world in unstable ontologies is shown. Differentiated conspiracy narrative and political imagination. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of agency in the context of a multi-vector model of social organization.
Conclusions of the research. The dynamics of the multifaceted study of conspiracy correlates with the growing awareness that conspiratorial narrative tends to grow significantly and affect society and culture. The stability and success of the conspiracy narrative is ensured by the realization of the claim to "correct" understanding, which makes it quite convincing, and therefore in demand. Conspiracy theories, manifested in various ways of agent communication, range from simple conspiracy through complicity to structural prejudices and ideologies.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to synthesize the existing evidence on leadership that best matches nursing home care, with a focus on behaviors, effects and influencing factors. Design/methodology/approach A narrative review was performed in three steps: the establishment of scope, systematic search in five databases and assessment and analysis of the literature identified. Findings A total of 44 articles were included in the review. The results of the study imply that a stronger focus on leadership behaviors related to the specific context rather than leadership styles could be of added value in nursing home care. Research limitations/implications Only articles applicable to nursing home care were included. The definition of “nursing home care” may differ between countries. This study only focused on the academic literature. Future research should focus on strategies and methods for the translation of leadership into behavior in practice. Practical implications A broader and more conceptual perspective on leadership in nursing homes – in which leadership is seen as an attribute of all employees and enacted in multiple layers of the organization – could support leadership practice. Originality/value Leadership is considered an important element in the delivery of good quality nursing home care. This study provides insight into leadership behaviors and influencing contextual factors specifically in nursing homes.
