Naruto comics by Masashi Kishimoto are very popular comics. Besides Naruto comics are made in animated series films, and they are also available in the form of a game. Like the comics’ success, the Naruto animated series films were made up of hundreds of episodes. In the Naruto series, the most dominant element appears, namely the hand symbol. Logic-Based Therapy (LBT), a modality of Philosophical Counselling, believes that humans suffer because of their faulty thinking patterns. It suggests antidotal reasoning and uplifting philosophies that help counselees refute these thinking patterns and adopt a healthier way of life. This paper investigates the possibility of using the influential ideologies found in Naruto (a Japanese manga and anime) in the framework of LBT, as suitable uplifting philosophies. The anime has been interpreted through the lens of Conversational Model Therapy, Japanese values, violence studies, etc.; there is an unavailability of research on its connection with philosophical counselling. This paper aims to fill the gap by reviewing literature on concepts in counselling, LBT, and philosophical counseling. It also attempts at providing behavioral exercises for the readers to implement in their own life.

Abstract:
Shounen is one of the most popular genres of anime. Although Shounen is usually targeted at younger boys, it is often consumed by audiences of all ages, such as Naruto and its sequel, Naruto Shippuden. In this study, I will focus on identifying the masculinity within the male ninjas in the series and analyzing the motivations behind the exercise of masculinity to find the ideal masculinity. I will combine the masculinity theory with the Japanese’s manhood, to analyze the ideal masculinity in the text. Through my analysis, I find that the male ninjas of these anime series show different kinds of masculinity, which divides them into two roles, protagonist and antagonist. The protagonists are the ones who thrive to fight for others while the antagonists fight only to benefit themselves. As a result, the protagonists are able to possess the ideal masculinity as they can exercise their masculinity positively. Keywords: anime, masculinity, male ninjas, protagonist, antagonist.

Abstract:
Abstract This study investigates the generation mechanism and influence of the whirlpools in the Naruto Strait on the surrounding marine environment using state-of-the-art high-resolution numerical ocean circulation modeling in a quadruple nested configuration. The Naruto whirlpools is recognized as an extraordinary seascape that the local governments and the citizens seek to register as a world natural heritage site. We found that the pronounced pressure gradient force associated with the meridional surface elevation difference was induced by a phase difference of two bifurcating major tidal waves. These waves originate from the Kitan Strait, and ultimately produce intense tidal currents at the Naruto Strait. One branch of the tidal waves propagates counter-clockwise along Awaji Island through the Akashi Strait, while the other occurs directly from the Kii Channel. As such, the whirlpool emerges as a large number of sub-mesoscale eddies, primarily due to the horizontal shear instability of tidal currents energized at the narrow topography between two headlands that extend into the strait. A dipole of overturning vertical circulations appears underneath the whirlpools with convergent downward transport at the strongest tidal current near the center of the strait; this causes efficient vertical mixing. This three-dimensional non-linear mixing promotes a time-averaged southeastward mass transport that extracts water and materials from the Harima-nada Sea into the Kii Channel.

Abstract:
Abstract This essay performs a critical rhetorical analysis of out-of-court texts pertaining to Naruto v. Slater, colloquially known as the “Monkey Selfie Lawsuit.” By veering from a legal positivist perspective on law and turning toward theories of the public screen, it argues that while People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) formally lost its case on appeal, it successfully litigated their case in the court of public opinion. It further offers the concept of the “litigious event”—a staged lawsuit designed for mass media dissemination—to explain my perspective. By latching onto the already-viral monkey selfies at the center of the copyright dispute, PETA took advantage of the public screen by bringing a private, logocentric civil suit into a public, image-based digital sphere. Increased coverage of the case allowed PETA's legal team to harness the power of digital media to disseminate important arguments about legal rights for animals. Naruto v. Slater functioned as a trial for media, as a strategic lawsuit for public participation—in other words, as a strategically sound and rhetorically powerful litigious event.

Anime and manga can closely present Japanese culture. The concept of Hinata Hyuga as a woman ninja in Naruto Shippuden, an anime film, depicts the gender ideology of Japanese culture. The research aims to describe the representation of gender ideology in Hinata Hyuga's figure and to know the semiotic representation in Hinata Hyuga as a woman who has broken the Japanese gender ideology. The scope of this study is investigating the woman's identity in gender ideology (feminism), by seeing signs represented in Hinata Hyuga. The research is qualitative and applies a descriptive qualitative method. The primary data source of this research is taken from Naruto Shippuden animated film. After the animated film is obtained, the researchers watch several series which are related to Hinata Hyuga. To get the expected research purpose, theory by Simone de Beauvoir about gender ideology combined with semiotic Barthes is applied to analyze the representation of gender ideology. The results show that Hinata Hyuga is a Japanese woman who can be a strong ninja who has broken Japanese gender ideology. In short, by seeing signs, semiotic can prove that Hinata’s characterization is not defined as a weak woman. Hinata’s identity as a Japanese woman, who is expected to be calm, gentle, fragile and in charge of all the housework is deconstructed into a strong and brave woman who refuse to give up in any problems.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
We have already reported that the cloned mouse DNA fragment (pMU65) could replicate in a simian virus 40 T antigen-dependent system in vivo and in vitro (H. Ariga, Z. Tsuchihashi, M. Naruto, and M. Yamada, Mol. Cell. Biol. 5:563-568, 1985). The plasmid p65-tk, containing the thymidine kinase (tk) gene of herpes simplex virus and the BglII-EcoRI region of pMU65 homologous to the simian virus 40 origin of DNA replication, was constructed. The p65-tk persisted episomally in tk+ transformants after the transfection of p65-tk into mouse FM3Atk- cells. The copy numbers of p65-tk in FM3Atk+ cells were 100 to 200 copies per cell. Furthermore, the p65-tk replicated semiconservatively, and the initiation of DNA replication started from the mouse DNA sequences when the replicating activity of p65-tk was tested in the in vitro DNA replication system developed from the FM3A cells. These results show that a 2.5-kilobase fragment of mouse DNA contains the autonomously replicating sequences.
