Abstract:
The paper presents the results of a linguistic expedition to the settlements of the German National Region in Altai. The German language dialectal forms identified can be attributed to the Low German and High German language areas. High German forms are of a mixed nature, including the dialects of both the Middle and South German types. Despite sharing common phonetic features, each of the Upper German dialects in Altai has its own set of features, with some features identified for the first time, for example, nasalization in the Kamyshi village dialect. All Middle German dialects are characterized by incomplete consonant movement and grammatical features. South German dialects also have some peculiarities: full movement of consonants, “hissing” consonant combinations, pronoun mer (we). The High German dialects of the Altai show the features of the original mother dialects and new features acquired due to mixing and leveling processes. A conclusion is made about the impossibility of identifying the dialectal forms precisely. The Low German language substratum is found to be represented by the dialects of the Mennonite Germans. The analysis of the linguistic features has found the speech of the Mennonite Plautdietsch speakers in Altai to be significantly similar to the speech of the Low German Mennonite dialect speakers of the Novosibirsk region. Also, some sociolinguistic components identified during a survey of speakers of different German language dialects were analyzed: self-identification, linguistic competence, attitude towards native dialect.

Areal study of the Don territory provides researchers with the evidences of ethnic culture. Uniqueness of the semantic development of Don dialect phraseology in a modern research paradigm is perceived as a reflection of a national language background of linguistic-cultural community. A special mention must be made with regards to a particular nature of linguistic culture and dialectic terminology of Don dialects. When covering the role of terminology phrases in a dialect and the appropriateness of classifying them as dialect phraseological units, their continual relationship with ethnic and linguistic factors are worth mentioning.

Abstract:
The article discusses the history of the Croatian language, particularly the paths of the gradual linguistic integration of all Croats and the development of the standard language (based upon the Štokavian dialect) within Croatian society, whose members have spoken three dialects (Čakavian, Štokavian, Kajkavian) since the Middle Ages. Because of the multidialectal situation (all three dialects played an important role in the history of the Croatian language), linguistic integration was a complex process. The use of the Croatian language before national integrality in the 19th century may look complicated and disunified, but this article attempts to show the old connections between different dialectal areas and the realization of two the main conceptions of the construction of Croatian superdialectal (literary) expression in linguistic history: a literary language with a single-dialect basis (but with multi-dialectal infiltration within the superstructure) and a literary (hybrid) type of language based upon at least two dialects.

Abstract:
The national language is a fundamental and essential communication tool due to the fact that it is evenly distributed throughout the country, it is understood and spoken by most people who have certain rules of language use, and have a certain vocabulary, which more or less depends on the level of education and culture of a person. This article reveals the concept of a language and a dialect, characterizes the contact between them, and considers the dialect’s essence. The study highlights the problem of interaction between a language and a dialect and pays special attention to the role of dialect in language and cultural space. Based on linguistic mapping by isogloss strands, the boundaries of dialects are outlined, and the interpenetration issues of features of neighboring dialects as a result of their long-term interaction are considered. It is also emphasized that the structural features of the dialect change over time due to interdialect interaction and the influence of the literary language, but the dialect as a form of existence of the national language does not disappear, and only transforms into a new quality.

Abstract:
The paper investigates a twofold attitude towards linguistic diversity in the Lithuanian-speaking community, where, on the one hand, the dialects are valorised as a national and ethnographic asset and, on the other hand, certain restrictions on their use are imposed because of association with a lower social value and negative stereotypes. Three direct attitudinal studies serve as an empirical basis for the research: a quantitative survey, qualitative interviews and an experiment with high-school students on stereotypical traits of the dialect speaker. When discussing future prospects of dialect change, the overt values of the speakers are compared with the findings of the speaker evaluation experiment that have revealed subconscious values of dialectal speech. The research has shown that compared to the Soviet times, the ideological climate regarding dialects has become more politically correct. Positive attitudes are most prominent at a declarative level and when regional identity and the speaker’s affiliation with a particular community have to be emphasised. Daily personal experiences, however, with the functionality of a dialect and evaluations of social and geographic mobility of dialect speakers, show a less favourable assessment of dialectal speech in comparison to the standard (non-dialectal) varieties. It is very much due to a frequent negative stereotyping of dialect speakers. The subconscious attitudes also reveal that the dialectal variability of speech has an arguably lower social meaning compared to the non-dialectal variability. The attitudes and practices of non-professional (lay) people may be claimed to reflect a double-faced standardization ideology of the Lithuanian language, which valorises dialects as an ecologic asset and at the same time limits their functioning by putting them in the reserve of “immobile” speakers.

Due to the fact that the differences and commonalities of the dialects of the same group are more clearly visible in the field, since such a feature is also characteristic of the Kipchak dialect, attention is paid to studying them by regional grouping in linguistics. The article analyzes proverbs, sayings, expressions in the national spirit related to national-cultural traditions and customs, historical traditions of idioms.

The paper discusses socially isolated dialects of the Russian language with a high positive rating of prestige by the native speakers. Pomorian dialect is partially codified. The Kuban Cossacks have Russian-Ukrainian origin, only the Ukrainian balachka (балачка) was codified. The Don prestige dialect did not receive codification, but because of its social isolation it is not influenced by neighbouring dialects and the literary language.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to highlight the concept and basic principles of compiling a dictionary of Eastern Steppe Ukrainian dialects. The aim implies reaching the following objectives: substantiating the criteria for selecting the empirical material; developing the dictionary compilation principles; defining the structure of the dictionary and the dictionary entry; describing the specific designation of variants of the dialect names of clothing; covering the semantic structure of the analysed dialect words; representing synonymy, polysemy and homonymy of the studied lexical units; recording expressive shades of the analysed dialect vocabulary; writing trial dictionary entries. The material for the article includes dialect recordings made by the author, mainly by the expeditionary method, in Donetsk Oblast settlements during 1997–2013. To track the degree of word spread in the studied dialects, the materials collected by students of the Philological Faculty of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University have been used. The research metho-dology is based on the theoretical foundations of dialectology, lexicology and lexico-graphy. To achieve the aim, general and specific scientific methods have been used: analysis and synthesis; descriptive and analytical method for collecting, inventorying, systematising dialectal lexical units, as well as for interpreting linguistic facts; the com-parative method has been used to determine the peculiarities of the analysed dialectal vocabulary; the technique of modelling dialect vocabulary has been applied to construct dictionary entries. The article presents the concept and principles of compiling the re-gional dictionary of Eastern Steppe Ukrainian dialects, taking into account the existing developments in Slavic dialectology, describes the criteria for selecting the empirical material, characterises the dictionary type and its general structure, as well as features of dictionary entries (interpretation of meanings, grammatical characteristics, labels reflecting the peculiarities of the word functioning in the dialect, the originality of the illustrative material). The study contains trial dictionary entries which demonstrate the specifics of the vocabulary of the new-settlement Ukrainian dialects of Donetsk Oblast. Further research and thorough presentation of the principles of compiling the regional dictionary of Eastern Steppe Ukrainian dialects will be possible after extracting, selecting and analysing more lexical material. In this regard, the proposed principles of lexico-graphic recording of Eastern Steppe Ukrainian dialects can be expanded and refined.

Abstract:
The subject of this paper is the relation of the standard Italian language to the dialects present on the territory of Italy. In the first part of the paper, we will focus on the basic concepts such as the difference between the standard language and dialects, on the prestige it has in comparison to dialects, as well as on linguistic varieties. Since the issue of language is often related to socio-historical aspects, in the second part of the paper we will look at the development of the Italian language and its role in raising awareness of national identity. We will then explain the concept of dialect and see that, specifically on Italian soil, dialectal differences can as considerable as to prevent communication within the same language. We will briefly look at some Italian dialects, such as Venetian, Sardinian and Neapolitan, and the status they enjoy. We will also mention contemporary attitudes about the use of dialects in Italy and some of the tendencies of the modernItalian language.

Abstract:
Introduction. The Moksha dialects of the Ruzaevsky district in the Republic of Mordovia are unique in their composition, as they encompass all three types of dialects – äkaing, ekaing, and ikaing – within a relatively small geographical area. To date, the dialects of the Ruzaevsky region have not been studied in depth, and there is a notable absence of research focused on morphonological features in the paradigm of nominal declension. The aim of this study is to examine the paradigm of the primary declension in the Moksha dialects of the Suzgariy type and identify their morphonological characteristics. Materials and Methods. The study was based on dialectal speech samples collected by the authors during field expeditions to the Ruzayevsky district of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as data from the dictionary collection of the Department of Mordvin Languages at the Philological Faculty of National Research Mordovia State University. The dialectal material was analyzed using a combination of synchronic-descriptive, comparative-historical, and structural research methods. Results and Discussion. The analysis of the available dialectal material has shown that the Suzgar type of speech is an “eka” dialect. It is less archaic compared to the “äka” dialects of the Levzhin region. In the dialects under study, within the paradigm of the primary declension, under the influence of certain phonetic processes during the agglutination of relational affixes, the initial noun stems exhibit varied behavior: in some cases, the stem is preserved, in others, there is lengthening or shortening. Historical stems may be restored, there can be a systematic voicing of the final voiced consonant of the stem, the vowel of the stem is preserved in some phonetic positions, and in others, it is reduced to a mid-height vowel, with shifts in the articulation of the final vowel towards the back of the mouth. Conclusion. For the first time in Mordovian linguistics, the authors explore the morphonological features of the dialects from this region. The study of the features of the Suzgar dialects within the paradigm of the primary declension will reveal the distinguishing characteristics of this dialect type in the area of nominal inflection and, to some extent, contribute to the understanding of the development of the dialectal system of the Ruzaevsky region. This article contributes to the study of the dialectal morphonology of the Moksha language and enriches the general theory of this linguistic phenomenon.

Nessas circunstâncias e tendo como referencial teórico a perspectiva discursivo-desconstrutivista, que assume uma postura transdisciplinar, a proposta desta pesquisa é discutir a irrupção de discursos que estão relacionados, de alguma maneira, à constituição identitária de dois grupos participantes da pesquisa, a saber, os migrantes gaúchos e os mato-grossenses; mais especificamente, aqueles oriundos da chamada Baixada Cuiabana (região que cerca a capital do Estado, Cuiabá). O corpus foi delimitado a partir de respostas a entrevistas feitas com gaúchos migrantes que vivem em Cuiabá e com mato-grossenses da mesma região que convivem/conviveram com tais migrantes. O pressuposto deste trabalho é de que, no processo migratório, o mato-grossense, por um lado, para legitimar sua posição de ser da terra, constrói e fixa sua identidade a partir da relação com questões indígenas, com a escravidão negra e, embora raramente, com a colonização ibérica. O migrante gaúcho, por sua vez, produz um discurso em torno do desenvolvimento econômico pautado na industrialização e modernização, mediante o qual procura fixar sua identidade, identificando-se mais com traços da cultura europeia (ítalo-germânica). Embora os grupos acima tendam à fixação de identidades, os resultados da análise do corpus mostraram que seus discursos se constroem na tensão entre o mesmo (a tradição), na medida em que recorrem ao passado para fixar uma identidade, e o diferente, posto que, nesses discursos, perceberam-se traços de ressignificação de si resultantes do contato proporcionado pela migração<br>Abstract: Especially after the opening to a new settlement, a migratory movement named March to the West (1930s), and other official programs of colonization, the state of Mato Grosso (MT-Brazil) became filled with foreign cultures, as a consequence of the migratory factor of its occupation, which was intensified in the 1970s, what culminated in the historic event of the state's division on October 11, 1977. Under these circumstances and based on a discursive theoretical perspective, this research aims at discussing the outbreak of discourses that are somehow related to the identity construction of two migrant groups: the "gauchos", people who are originally from Rio Grande do Sul state, and the "matogrossenses", people who are originally from Mato Grosso state, more specifically, from a region surrounding the state capital (Cuiabá) named "Baixada Cuiabana". Our data consists of excerpts taken from recorded interviews carried out with gaúchos migrants living in Cuiabá and with autochthonous who live in the same region. The presupposition of this work is that, during the migration process, the autochthonous, in order to legitimize their position as natives, build up and fix their identity based on indigenous and black slavery issues and, although rarely, on Iberian colonization issues, too. On the other hand, the "gauchos" produce a discourse on economic development that is guided by the industrialization and modernization, by which they fix their identity, what seems to reveal identifications with the European culture (Italian-German). Abstract:
No subject in the National Curriculum has been the source of more controversy than English. It has been at the heart of fierce debates in the political arena, amongst the policy makers responsible for the National Curriculum, in the academic world and in the media. Underlying these arguments have been, on the one hand, an agreement that English is a subject of special importance in the curriculum and, on the other, often profound disagreements about what the nature of that subject ought to be. At the same time, there has been a tendency for policy to be made without reference to evidence about the necessity, the feasibility or even the desirability of the proposals being put forward. In the main, the work presented in this submission provides evidence relevant to the National Curriculum for English as it has developed over the last six years.

Abstract:
The current study implements a speech perception experiment that interrogates local perceptions of Spanish varieties in Miami. Participants (N=292) listened to recordings of three Spanish varieties (Peninsular, Highland Colombian, and Post-Castro Cuban) and were given background information about the speakers, including the parents’ country of origin. In certain cases, the parents’ national-origin label matched the country of origin of the speaker, but otherwise the background information and voices were mismatched. The manipulation distinguishes perceptions determined by bottom-up cues (dialect) from top-down ones (social information). Participants then rated each voice for a range of personal characteristics and answered hypothetical questions about the speakers’ employment, family, and income. Results show clear top-down effects of the social information that often drive perceptions up or down depending on the traits themselves. Additionally, the data suggest differences in perceptions between Hispanic/non-Hispanic and Cuban/non-Cuban participants, although the Cuban participants do not drive the Hispanic participants’ perceptions.

Abstract:
This study investigates adolescents' use of standard English in situations requiring careful speech. An account is given of the historical, political, linguistic and educational development of the concept of standard English, with particular emphasis on spoken standard English. Popular conceptions of 'correct speech' are also considered, and all of these are related to requirements in the National Curriculum for England and Wales for the teaching of spoken standard English. This is related to a specific case, namely that of Tyneside English. This variety is described, and an account is given of the area and its main social and econornIc characteristics. Twenty four adolescents are chosen from two schools which contrast highly in terms of socioeconomic profile. The individuals are also selected to provide a spread of levels of attainment, and both sexes are equally represented. M Phonological, grammatical, lexical and discourse variables are quantified using Labovian quantification techniques and approaches which involve counting non-standard variants over a period of time. Principal linguistic variables are: glottalised variants of (p) (t) and (k); non standard verb and pronoun forms; non-standard lexical items, and certain kinds of discourse markers. This process provides evidence of the extent to which young people use or do not use spoken standard English. It is shown that in more careful speech young people from more and less privileged backgrounds use only small frequencies of non-standard variants, but that within this relatively small number differences do exist: certain items are used mainly by less privileged boys, others mainly by girls, others by more privileged individuals in general. Use of non-standard speech is shown to differ for different groups at different linguistic levels. Important differences in gender and in social class emerge, but attainment also appears to have a significant bearing on children's use of spoken standard English. The study concludes by discussing pedagogical approaches which might increase awareness of issues associated with standard English.

Abstract:
This doctoral dissertation focuses on the negotiation of power in schools and the social and academic experiences of First Nations and Metis children who speak a non-standard variety of English called Indigenous English. Indigenous English is a dialect of English spoken by many Indigenous peoples in Canada; it is especially discernable in the Prairie Provinces, yet it is not widely recognized by the majority of the population. This thesis explores the experience of dialect speakers of Indigenous English in the standard English School and educator perceptions of their literacy and language abilities.<br>This classroom study was conducted in an urban community in Saskatchewan. The focus of the research was a Grade 3/4 classroom with 25 students, six of whom were interviewed for this study. Additionally, interviews were conducted with eleven educators. The results of this study indicate that the First Nations children of this study speak a dialect of English that differs phonologically, morphologically, syntactically, and lexically from the Standard English spoken in Saskatchewan. The results of this PhD research indicate that Indigenous English-speaking students use discourse behaviour that differs from that of their White settler classmates. In examining the children's speech and classroom behaviour, it becomes apparent that silence, teasing, and story telling are important discourse characteristics of Indigenous English.<br>The findings indicate that White settler educators demonstrate little awareness of the systematic linguistic and discourse characteristics of Indigenous English and that this lack of awareness is apparent in White settler educators' descriptions of their approaches to teaching, literacy development, classroom management, evaluation, and referral of First Nations and Metis students for speech and language assessment. Other findings include denial of difference, and a race/class divide in the school and community.<br>Possible resolutions to the problems faced by these students may include teacher training and dialect awareness classes. This field has not been adequately explored and further research is needed to discover viable solutions to the issues experienced by dialect speakers of Indigenous English in the Standard English classroom.

This thesis examines the effectiveness of tourism as an agent of rural development, focusing on culture and nature-based destinations in the 'developing world'. The village of Desa Senaru at Gunung Rinjani National Park in Lombok Island, Indonesia, served as a case study. Conservation agencies frequently support tourism development as a sustainable alternative to more extractive resource uses. Integrated conservation models, in particular, present 'eco'tourism as an effective instrument to enhance rural livelihoods while protecting the environment. Alongside international aid agencies, the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) also promotes the sector for its poverty reduction potential in 'third world' countries. Rural communities hold concomitant expectations of tourism's socio-cultural development potential. Furthermore, 'eco'tourism functions as a growing niche market for the globally expanding tourism industry and local entrepreneurs. As such it fits well into the economic rationale that underpins neo-liberal market strategies. With such a diversity of interests at stake, the question "What kind of business is tourism?" has become more complex, critical and pertinent than ever before. Informed by development theories and the sociology of tourism, this analysis focuses on the multiple dichotomies that characterise 'third world' tourism. In the case of tourism development in Desa Senaru, several paradoxical outcomes have been identified. The most profound of these is the 'social justice paradox' that describes the way tourism costs and benefits are distributed within a heterogeneous community of native residents and migrant settlers. While most of the case study's tourism attractions are part of the cultural heritage of the wetu telu Sasak hamlets, these derive few economic benefits and struggle to access the new development opportunities 'eco'tourism offers. Filtered and directed by historical political relations, several key barriers to a meaningful participation of these native people in the 'business of tourism' have been identified. These include the prevailing conditions of education, culture, ethnicity, socio-economy, location, mobility, skills and knowledge. Expectations of 'eco'tourism as a 'soft' industry analysed vis-à-vis the global biosphere effects of air transport highlight the 'eco-paradox' of international tourism. The cleavage between the poverty-focused aid policies of the New Zealand Government and an integrated conservation project, whose benefits local elites have largely captured, illustrates the 'project paradox' of rural tourism development programmes. In the 'development paradox' of cultural tourism, symbolic constructs of 'otherness' (such as 'aesthetic poverty') contrast with various development agendas; in their search for the 'real' traditional village, for example, the tourists reject all signifiers of material progress and modernity. Their curious gaze at the spiritual practices and everyday life world of the wetu telu villagers manifests opposite a recent history of state-sanctioned religious discrimination. Taken together, these paradoxical local outcomes emphasize the significance of power relations and political dimensions within the globally expanding 'business of tourism'. Ethical considerations are an important aspect of this study as they contribute towards an 'ethic of development' that, so far, has found little theoretical resonance amongst scholars of tourism studies. To operationalise the ethical concerns raised, the thesis posits a model of a holistic approach to development. This recognises tourism as a complex open system.

Elle amene a un examen de ce processus institutionnel a partir de deux exemples : le napolitain et le provencal. L'impossibilite de l'institution d'une langue napolitaine est mise en evidence par l'ouvrage de l'abbe galiani, "del dialetto napoletano", par les evenements de la revolution parthenopeenne et, au 19e, par les vocabulaires dialectaux, refusant chacun a leur maniere un statut au napotitain. Le provencal est dans le meme cas par rapport aux evenements revulutionnaires, aux dictionnaires et au role de l'ecole. Thus it prevents the formation of other languages from these ways of speaking, which nevertheless remain as objects of science and nostalgia. The study of the ways of speaking of a community of italian immigrants by means of an oral inquiry shows that the institution most of the time works on the conscience of the ways of speaking before working on the practice itself. It brings about the examination of this institutional process from two examples : neapolitan and provencal. The impossibility of the institution of a neapolitan language is emphasized by priest galiani's "del dialetto napoletano", by the events of the parthenopean revolution, and by dialectal vocabularies in the nineteenth century, denying neapolitano a statute in different ways. The situation is identical for provencal in relation to revolutionary events, dictionaries and the role of school. But the emergence of the felibrige in the second part of the 19thc brings about a symbolic institution yet endowing provencal with the dignity of a language. The ways of speaking provencal are excluded from this process, and like neapolitan and the ways of speaking of immigrants cannot claim any statute

The present study weighs the effect of well-established language-internal factors of the dative alternation such as animacy or pronominality of the object phrases against language-external factors such as origin of the speaker. For that purpose, the study samples three types of dative variants (N = 7,070) from six regional dialects in the UK, namely the canonical prepositional and double object constructions as well as the alternative double object construction (e.g. Give it me), using the Freiburg English Dialect Corpus (FRED) and the British National Corpus (BNC). By applying a novel dialectometric approach that uses conditional random forests, we compare the importance of well-known predictors across these six regions and highlight two (political) clusters that contrast England with Wales. Our study advances current knowledge on regional variation in probabilistic grammars and highlights the importance of including non-canonical variable patterns in the analysis.

Abstract Building on previous research on the multilingual global cities of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai (Leimgruber, Siemund &amp; Terassa 2018; Siemund &amp; Leimgruber 2020), the present study looks into the multilingual/multidialectal texture of Shanghai, a recently emerged global city in China. To understand the societal multilingualism of Shanghai from the perspective of individuals’ linguistic repertoires, this study implements a mixed-method approach, using questionnaire surveys and semi-structured interviews as the data collection instruments. The questionnaires were distributed to 398 students from one comprehensive university and one polytechnic university in Shanghai and follow-up interviews were conducted with 34 students from both universities. The analysis of the data indicates that Shanghai university students uniformly possess a Chinese-English bilingual profile, while a small number of individuals develop trilingual profiles of Chinese, English, and a language other than English. It also suggests that different language varieties are assigned hierarchical values and, in particular, regional dialects continue to be marginalized due to their limited pragmatic values. The findings reveal the far-reaching impacts of government-level foreign language education planning on individuals’ multilingual profiles. Similar to other global cities such as Singapore and Dubai, students in Shanghai tend to develop English-centered bilingual language profiles, typically in combination with the national lingua franca. These bilingual profiles may be further enriched by heritage languages or world languages that are deemed economically useful.

The works of renowned Slavicist Ludmila Kalnyn’ constitute an integral hypertext, exhibiting the movement of ideas, goals, and methods of studying Slavonic dialects in the second half of the 20th c. and the early 21st c. These works feature innovative methodologies and techniques of dialect research, such as her precise technique of modelling individual subdialects (i.e. actual communicative dialect systems) and dialect language (i.e. a construct comprising individual subdialects); this promising method has proved to be effective and has been adopted by other dialect researchers. Furthermore, she formulated a range of problems solution of which was aimed to the structure and functioning of dialects, their status in the national language stratigraphy, and areal characteristics of items and phenomena found in dialects. The scope of dialect modelling includes subdialect phonological systems, syllable-internal structure and syllabification, and word as both the field and the factor of phonetic changes. Her modelling technique involves the sequential use of sets of distinctive features of the objects under study, also taking into account the regularity of manifestation of features in dialect speech and conditions of their neutralization. Empirical databases were created regarding Slavonic (viz. Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Bulgarian and Sorbian) dialects, including their systemic descriptions. Special attention was given to the status of modern dialects against the background of other strata of the national language, and to their role in forming and present-day development of literary language. In her research, Kalnyn’ has demonstrated: – the advantage of the exhaustive systemic description of a dialect based on the system of distinctive features over descriptions of random subdialectal features against the background of standard language, the importance of uncontradictory explication of preconditions and chronotope of the origin of structural and functional specificity of modern Slavonic dialects; – the importance of joint approach combining synchronic systemic description with the elucidation of the history of every structural element and phenomenon, establishing their spread within national and general Slavonic continuum as a means of achieving the completeness of dialectal knowledge; – the heuristic value of identification and detailed analysis not only of entities and phenomena widely spread within a dialectal continuum, but also of locally limited ones of the ancient origin or, on the contrary, resulting from recent innovations; – the necessity for comprehensive dialectal studies of consistently considering social, historical, and cultural circumstances of a subdialect’s functioning within society. Many years of her active participation in the work on The General Slavonic Linguistic Atlas (including the identification and development of its theoretical foundations, production of numerous phonetic maps, especially interpretative and generalizing ones), analysis of phonetic Slavonic areas determined the dynamics of her views on many phenomena of Slavonic phonetics. At the same time, working in the international collective, and organizing international conferences dedicated to problems of Slavonic dialectology, led to the dissemination of L. E. Kalnyn’s ideas, theoretical generalizations, and practical experience. The trajectory of this experience’s emergence is insolubly linked with the conceptual development of present-day Slavonic dialectology.

Greece’s language landscapes both geographically and historically multifarious. The dispersal of these dialects has been complexified by mixing and borrowing, as well as other factors, while their boundedness is blurred throughout the region. Many of these dialects and their applications (such as in miroloi and demotic music) are in significant decline, if not endangerment, and efforts to revitalize these languages are inadequate. Yet, these dialects, as an aggregate, also provide a significant source of local and larger (for example, national) ideology, where they each entextualize such an ideology in their linguistic appropriation. This paper presents work thus far on the ethnography of dialect and ideology throughout Greece. While a full ethnography of Greek dialects is not possible, efforts to build the landscaping of the country’s dialect map will contribute to the understanding of questions such as, how is ideology of Greekness represented through and entextualized in language forms throughout Greece, and beyond. This study draws on the frameworks of linguistic ideologies and entextualization as methodical frameworks. The language documentation has thus far spanned several decades.

Тhe article is devoted to the study of the components of the linguoculturological commentary of the ritual words of dialect linguoculture in the "Dictionary of the Siberian wedding ceremony." The work based on the dialects of the Middle Ob region, objectifying linguoculture. The dialect lexicon has an extensive corpus of units serving the Russian national wedding ceremony. Their semantics is a multicomponent structure that contains a unique layer that represents the national identity of Russian ritual culture. The work reveal at identifying the components of the commentary, establishing their hierarchy, clarifying the specifics of the presentation of the most significant components.

Language, including local varieties, is an important component of national identity – subdialects and dialects, as well as Latgalian written language promote awareness and strengthening of regional identity and enrich the national language as a whole. Therefore, it is important that attention is paid to all language varieties. During the last decades regional varieties of Latvian language have not received sufficient coverage in learning content – there is either no information about them in learning materials or it is minimal. As a result, students not only do not acquire necessary linguistic, cultural and historical knowledge but also their language skills are not being fully developed. The article describes an experience that was gained in Latvian language classes while using developed lingvodidactic material to promote an understanding of regionalist issues. In the study, surveys, content analysis and case study methods were used. In trial operation it was determined that 10th-grade students do not have knowledge about regional varieties of the Latvian language, their history and importance in the development of Latvian language. Using the developed lingvodidactic material, students’ knowledge of Latvian dialects, subdialects and the Latgalian written language has improved. The ability to recognize differences between dialects and to acquire necessary information has improved as well as interest in the regional diversity of the Latvian language has been created which promoted development of an overall respectful attitude towards the Latvian language. The study results are consistent with conclusions from other studies and demonstrate consequences of imperfections in learning content which negatively affect students’ consciousness of national and cultural identity. The situation can be significantly improved by including students’ age-appropriate lingvodidactic material in the Latvian language learning content.

Very different from other countries with only one language, Indonesia has more than three hundred local languages having more than seven hundred dialects. Currently all descriptions census and survey variables in questionnaire, data entry program, metadata, and interviewer guide book are available only in single national language. An interviewer may not be able to accurately translate variable descriptions from single national language to local languages and further to a particular dialect. This condition leads to misinterpretation and low accuracy in collected variables. We propose consolidation among local languages to produce official statistics variables at National Statistics College in the context of statistical education. Consolidation will produce multilingual official statistics equipment mentioned above. Every year there are several hundred new students at National Statistics College from almost every leading local language. These are untapped resources and are ready for this purpose. Data accuracy may be improved with multilingual descriptions variable. It will encourage a lot of information about a variable as much as local language but it will make data more accurate. There will be no biased variable because it has been explained in the local language. Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) provides structured approach to arrive at more accurate data. A personal computer owned by every student offers far more ease and flexibility for review, validate, edit GSBPM sub-process during education. The academic campus has long standardized software to help for this purpose.

Нами отмечено, что на фоне лексикологии лексикография успешно и активно ушла вперед, что продиктовано ее необходимостью и востребованностью, так как словари являются немаловажным рычагом в изучении и сохранении языков. This article addresses issues that are equally relevant to all Dagestan languages in lexicographical terms, including a variety of types of dictionaries such as monolingual (explanatory, spelling), bilingual translated Russian-national and national-Russian, dialectological, as well as dictionaries that have proven themselves to date on the microlexicon of the Andalal and Khaidak dialects and phytonymic dictionaries being prepared for two Dagestan languages. We noted that against the background of lexicology, lexicography has successfully and actively moved much forward, which is dictated by its necessity and demand, since dictionaries are an important lever in the study and preservation of languages.

Abstract:
The rise of vernacular languages and local dialects emerged the revival of classical myths in literature, there was in a way revival of Hindu Renaissance and Religious Reformation in the Mediaeval History of India. These languages materially aided in the development of national and human consciousness and self-realization. It indeed undermined the feudal order and universal religious intolerance and casteism in India. The vernacular languages established through their respective literatures’ fundamental truth, that there is a divine power and interference behind human force and the goal of individual and society is the social, religious, political unity and economic justice. Yet, there was gruesome picture of society in India where heretics were punished both by Hindus and Muslims respectively in their own communities, as it was treason to doubt the already prevalent teachings and principles of prescribed religions i.e., Hinduism and Islam.
