Hengshui Lake National Nature Reserve is one of the most ecologically valuable freshwater wetlands in the northern plains of China. It provides crucial staging and wintering habitats for a large variety of endangered waterbirds. However, this unique wetland has suffered from serious habitat fragmentation and ecological function degradation caused by increased socioeconomic activities within and surrounding the Nature Reserve. With the aim of enhancing the Reserves ecological function while balancing conservation priorities and indispensable socioeconomic activities, the ecological risks result

Abstract:
The aim of the study is the analysis of the epiphytic diatoms community in three water bodies of the SRP "Kraljevac" and the evaluation of the preliminary ecological potential according to the national regulations of the Republic of Serbia. A total of 71 diatom taxa were recorded in the samples collected in the spring and autumn of 2024. This group of microalgae indicates a high and good ecological potential in the spring (I-II class) at all investigated sites, while in autumn deterioration of water quality at two sites was observed.

Abstract:
The national Park “Samarskaya Luka” and the adjacent “Zhigulevsky state reserve of I. I. Sprygin” is a special territory that includes a variety of natural monuments, natural landscapes, unique flora and fauna for the forest-steppe zone. In this regard, this area opens up a wide potential for tourism, which is actively implemented by the management of the national Park. The purpose of this article is to show the prospects of studying this territory in the framework of a school geography course, conducting field trips along pre – developed routes on the territory of this protected area.

Abstract:
This is the first of a two-part series covering protected areas and biodiversity conservation. Part I covers the extensive literature on objectives, design, and planning of protected areas. Currently, a combination of nationally, regionally, and internationally protected areas cover about 12% of the terrestrial surface. The module covers objectives in creating PAs generally (biodiversity conservation), and more specifically (to protect certain taxa, habitats, or ecological processes). There are also other important considerations in designing PAs such as size, shape, and connectivity. Part II

Abstract:
The Mississippi National River and Recreation area (MISS), situated along a 116 km stretch of the Mississippi River through the Minneapolis and St. Paul urban corridor, encompasses ~21,800 ha of public and private land. In 2022, the Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network (GLKN) resampled permanent forest monitoring sites in the park, marking the second assessment of these sites, which were established and initially sampled in 2011. The goal of this long-term monitoring project is to provides managers with routine updates on which to base management decisions; these data can also be used

Abstract:
Channel Islands National Park (CHIS) has conducted long-term ecological monitoring of the kelp forests around San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Anacapa and Santa Barbara Islands since 1982. The original permanent transects were established at 16 sites between 1981 and 1986 with the first sampling beginning in 1982, this being the 33rd year of monitoring. An additional site, Miracle Mile, was established at San Miguel Island in 2001 by a commercial fisherman with assistance from the park. Miracle Mile was partially monitored from 2002 to 2004, and then fully monitored (using all KFM protocols
